Meghan Markle Wore a Subtle Tribute to Her Majesty at the Queen’s Funeral
The late Queen Elizabeth II knew the power of fashion. Throughout her 70-year reign, she used clothes, colours, hats and jewels to conduct soft diplomacy and developed a stylish language of covert symbols. So it was only fitting that today, as the world paid its final respects at the Queen’s funeral at Westminster Abbey, Meghan Markle, […]

Princess Eugenie Took Style Cues From Meghan Markle at Her Star-Studded Royal Wedding
Much like her first cousins Princes William and Harry, Princess Eugenie’s relationship played out like a fairytale romance in the public eye. Eight years ago Queen Elizabeth’s sixth grandchild was introduced to Jack Brooksbank, a brand ambassador for tequila crafter Casamigos (founded by George Clooney) and began attending high-profile events with him just one year […]

A new official portrait of Prince George! Plus, Kate Middleton recycles her Missoni tweed coat for a friend’s wedding
See more Kate Middleton style »
Is there better news for a Monday morning than two new photos of Kate Middleton? How about: two new photos of Kate, one of which is an official family portrait, complete with smiling Prince George, happy Lupo and doting dad, Prince William. Best Monday ever!
The official Cambridge family portrait was taken by Jason Bell, who also took the (super adorable) Prince George christening photos. Kate, Will, Prince George and Lupo are sitting in a window at apartment A1 in Kensington Palace, otherwise known as their new royal home and the family looks perfectly at ease. “Why yes, our baby does have the cutest, pudgiest cheeks! Oh, the personalized “George” sweater he’s wearing? That was just a small gift from Grandpa Charles.”

Kate Middleton repeats an Orla Kiely look for a day spent with at-risk youth
Proving that she’s keenly aware of the impact her outfit choices have, Kate Middleton opted to repeat an entire look while visiting the crime prevention charity Only Connect earlier today. After all, a day spent with those in need is not the time to break out a new bespoke McQueen dress. Instead, Kate chose a look she first wore in February 2012: a printed Orla Kiely dress, brown tights and brown suede Aquatalia booties. (A colour palette certainly fitting for a crisp fall day!) The wool dress featured a jacquard bird-print, a belted waist and pleated skirt—the silhouette is not unlike that of Kate’s favourite coats, fitting right in with her go-to look for royal engagements. Also notable was Kate’s hair. The headline-making grey hairs from two weeks ago are still there, but covered with a deeper chocolate tone and accented with a brush of honey-coloured highlights at the ends.

Kate Middelton matches Prince George’s christening gown with off-white Alexander McQueen
Who wore off-white best: a pudgy-cute baby in a dress or the always-stunning Kate Middleton? Okay, it’s not a fair comparison, but with Prince George on the scene, attention is certainly divided. The three month old heir to the throne was christened this morning at an intimate royal affair—just 22 guests are reported to have been in attendance, including the Middleton family, Prince Harry and, of course, the Queen. (Sorry, Cressida Bonas, maybe next time!)
While Prince George’s christening outfit was decided centuries ago (he’s in a replica of the royal christening robe, the original of which is 172 years old) Kate’s christening dress is completely new. It’s a bespoke Alexander McQueen piece, which bares a striking resemblance to the ruffled Reiss dress she wore for her official engagement photos in 2010. Kate kept her hair straight with one side pinned up, the perfect style to match her cream-coloured hat by Jane Taylor and show off her Kiki McDonough citrine earrings.

Emilia Wickstead’s modern take on old world elegance has met its match in the Duchess of Cambridge
See Kate Middleton’s Emilia Wickstead looks »
Emilia Wickstead is a name you’ll start hearing often. Operating on a more feminine frequency than many of her edgy London contemporaries, she sits poised for an international takeover, partly because of her association with another ultra-feminine name: Kate Middleton. Perhaps most directly though, she’s got the chops.
A native New Zealander, 29-year-old grew up with a made-to-measure designer for a mother and ample creativity in her veins. She moved to London to study fashion marketing and spent time in New York interning for Proenza Schouler, Narcisco Rodriguez and Vogue Magazine. After a few years of working made-to-measure, Wickstead launched a ready-to-wear collection in 2011 at London Fashion Week. Fast-forward to today, and she’s gotten Emilia Wickstead creations on the Duchess of Cambridge at least five times by our count, and those five have been amongst Kate’s best and often-repeated pieces. She has also dressed Samantha Cameron, the notoriously fashion-loving wife of British PM David Cameron, and made clients of online retailers Matches and Net-a-Porter.
When we met the designer last month in Toronto, those high-profile connections were especially clear. Dressed in an exquisite low cut A-line dress of her own creation, Wickstead explained why the new brand of sophisticated modernity is all about what isn’t revealed: “I design very much how I dress at 29,” she says. “If I am [wearing] something short, I like to be quite covered on top and if I am wearing something to the knee, I like an open back or a low neck. I think there is something very sexy in the way of dressing like that doesn’t have to be show all and tell all.”

Kate Middleton wears Pucci while handing out a Paralympic gold medal
See what else Kate wore this weekend at the Paralympics »
Despite the fact that William and Harry are also Olympic ambassadors, it’s no surprise (to us, at least!) that Kate Middleton is the most popular royal at various London 2012 celebrations. Yesterday she took part in her first medal ceremony, presenting the gold for men’s discus. And because Kate always knows how to dress the part, she ditched her usual Team GB uniform for a more official-looking outfit.
