LFW diary: Fantastic Mr. Fox inspires at Mulberry
It was a six-minute ride from the Mayfair Hotel to the Mulberry show this morning, and yet when I arrived, I found myself in some enchanted woods. Flowering vines caught in my hair, which perhaps I should’ve brushed. The red and white speckled mushrooms indigenous to all Disney movies—you know the ones—popped up under my feet. Bright-eyed, bushy-tailed waiters offered cupcakes decorated to match.

How do you begin the creative process for Lula? “I start from weird things. For one issue, I was playing with kaleidoscopes; we tried to make everything look like that. For another one, I was obsessed with Wednesday Addams. For our first anniversary issue, I stalked the woman who created Strawberry Shortcake. When I first met Kirsten Dunst, one of the things we bonded over was Strawberry Shortcake.”

The Bay’s full-tilt foray into high fashion continues apace. This Thursday and Friday, the Toronto Queen Street store is hosting a two-day extravaganza of British fashion, dubbed God Save the Queen. The Room will be transformed with installations and the opening night soiree will let the guest list-only crowd mingle with the cool kids of London fashion–Mark Fast, Marios Schwab, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, Charlotte Olympia Dellal, Nicholas Kirkwood and Giles Deacon, who will be demonstrating his DJ prowess.
