What’s a summer beauty product I can splurge on?
Treating yourself doesn’t have to mean splurging on something that serves little to no purpose. Instead, get major bang for your buck and buy something that can be used in multiple ways. Aerin Beach Cream ($50, esteelauder.ca) can be used as a post-sun body hydrator, leaving behind a hint of bronze tint with incredibly subtle shimmer, or it can be applied to hair as a conditioning treatment while you’re still in the sun, as heat activates the treatment, leaving hair soft and shiny. If you’re in a pinch, a tiny dab can be used on cheekbones for a bit of radiance. The cream is infused with rose-based floral fragrance that will help you freshen up after a day in the sun.

Is there a quick way to improve my skin’s appearance?
If there’s one point to drive home regarding skincare, let it be this: skincare is about consistency and taking care. The time you put into fine-tuning a regimen that works for your skin usually reaps rewards of skin that looks bright, radiant and breaks out less. That being said, not everyone has time to commit to a routine every day and night. If you’re looking for a quick fix for your skin’s lacklustre state, try Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Boosting 5-Minute Facial ($100, thebay.com). This two-step system involves applying a self-foaming mask containing alpha hydroxy acids and protease enzymes to dissolve impurities in the skin that are contributing to a dull appearance. After a couple of minutes, rinse skin and then finish with the lipid-rich ceramide serum, which also contains skin-firming fruit extracts and soothing aloe vera. Radiant results for five minutes of effort! -
Beauty Fix: The benefits of using a facial oil, how to say goodbye to undereye puffiness and more

I don’t have undereye circles, but sometimes I have puffiness that creates a shadow. What can I do about this?
Undereye puffiness and swelling is a buildup of fluid in the undereye area. This less-than-slightly scene can be caused by a number of things, including but not limited to irregular sleep patterns, allergies, high sodium consumption (this will probably make you rethink topping up your soy sauce the next time you have sushi!), and alcohol consumption. Some fine-tuning of your lifestyle can help alleviate undereye puffiness and swelling, but in the meantime, Garnier Nutritionist Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller ($22, well.ca) can help you! This undereye roller encourages circulation to the area thanks to the cooling sensation of the metal rollerball, and the tinted gel formula dispensed with each roll contains caffeine and lemon extract, in order to brighten and stimulate the area, concealing darkness without creasing! -

I feel like every time I paint my nails, I can’t sit still long enough to let them dry. How can I speed up this process?
I think it’s practically a rule in life that when you’re waiting for your freshly painted nails to dry, you’ll suddenly have an undeniable urge to reach into your purse or pocket. Fortunately, we can usher the drying process along by applying a couple drops of Quo by Orly Dry In A Sec drops ($10, at Shoppers Drug Mart) on each nail. These drops utilize quick-drying silicones to protect the polish from smudging while drying at a rapdi. And keep in mind that when you’re applying your colour, thin, even coats of nail polish (instead of thicker coats) will be your best friend if you really want to reduce your drying time! -
Beauty Fix: How to do a frizz-free blowout on the most humid of days and more answers to your beauty questions
Every week our Beauty Fix columnist takes on your questions about makeup, skincare, hair and more. Have a beauty question we haven’t answered? Email us at beautyfix@fashionmagazine.com.
How do I make my at-home blowout frizz-free in the summer?
Something key to remember is that the environment in which you blowdry your hair has a large impact on how your hair will react to heat styling. It’s advisable to blowdry your hair in a dry environment, i.e. not the bathroom you just steamed up with your shower! Next, make sure your hair is actually completely dry when you have completed the blowout. Any damp areas are likely to react to the air temperatures around you, which seldom results in smooth strands. Always finish hair with an anti-humidity spray, such as Oribe Imperméable Anti-humidity Spray ($44, at Donato Salon & Spa), which utilizes copolymer technology to shield hair from the impact of humidity, and also contains a UV filter to protect hair.
