NYFW diary: Happy 30th, Michael Kors!
Photography by Frazer Harrison/Getty Images How do you get Hollywood royalty like Michael Douglas, wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, Bette Midler and Angelica Huston to be up and at ‘em, bright and early on a Wednesday morning? Well, let’s just say it helps if your first name is Michael, and your last name is Kors. Celebrating 30 years of American luxury, Kors created 64 fall looks that nodded to his design aesthetic over the years: seventies disco glitter, eighties athleticism and nineties minimalism. Skin tones of nude, suntan and cocoa mixed with dusty shades of blush, plum and mauve (the colour of the week). Throw in a few graphic splashes of crimson, long, lean lines and a dream team of models (Carmen! Jourdan! Daria! Karolina! Frankie!) and you’ve got the hottest ticket in town. Even Kors’s show invitation (bearing a vintage shot of the designer himself) seems to say let the good times roll. Here’s to the next 30!

NYFW muse moment: Anna Dello Russo
I spotted Anna Dello Russo, editor-at-large and creative consultant for Vogue Japan, at the Michael Kors show. An avid collector of the quirky and cutting edge, Dello Russo is best known for her picnic-worthy headpieces. From bejewelled watermelons to metallic cherries, the produce aisle is the coolest new place to find your fashion inspiration. Carmen Miranda would approve.

The reopening of Chanel’s SoHo store. The guest list included S.J.P., Liv Tyler, Jessica Stam, Blake Lively, DJ/It girl Alexa Chung and the man of the hour, Karl Lagerfeld. Guests channelled their inner Basquiat by grabbing a canister of Chanel-branded infrared spray paint from one of the handsome cater waiters and unleashing on the digital graffiti wall.MY FAVOURITE…SHOW:
Michael Kors’ sunshine state of mind. I can’t get enough of his cool-as-a-cucumber crinkled linens, tissue cashmeres and hand smocking.

Michael Kors as the hedges, Heidi Klum as an Amazonian robot alien, and more fashion Halloween costumes
Red carpet spotting is more fun on Halloween–there’s little in the way of simple column dresses and more of a push towards robots. Which is what we think Heidi Klum is dressed as for her annual Halloween bash. (Or maybe an alien? A Transformer? Help us out here.) Lanvin also threw a party at their […]
