Which of Miley Cyrus’s most recent Bangerz costumes scandalizes you most?

If the last leg of her tour wasn’t crazy enough for you, Miley Cyrus has added six more skin tight, barely-there leotards to her Bangerz tour wardrobe. After a month-long break from her tour due to an infection, the singer returned in London last Tuesday and we have to say, she is looking spicier than ever.
Adding to her customized ostrich feathered outfit by Simone Harouche, and her fur-laced and cannabis-encrusted getups by The Blonds, she’s now flaunting even more of The Blond’s leotards covered in Miley-faced dollar bills, tons of glitter and of course her signature tongue-exposing mouth symbol- in 3D. And not ignoring today’s of-the-moment trends, the style icon is also rocking neon yellow (also by The Blonds) and athletic styled leotards, did you expect any less? We sure didn’t! We guess she was probably feeling a little exposed, hence the addition of a long feathery yellow skirt (with a leg-baring slit), a hood, cowboy hat and beanie to finish off her ensembles.

Sexplosion! Today’s taboo-breaking sexual renaissance examined, from Miley Cyrus to Lena Dunham
Briefly, in the early 1990s, I was a smut peddler. I edited an anthology called The Girl Wants To, which included art and writing about sex and the body, from Roberta Gregory’s “Bitchy Strips” to Barbara Gowdy’s strange, beautiful account of a young necrophiliac, “We So Seldom Look on Love.” The anthology was part of a growing wave of heated discourse by third-wave feminists—women making sense of sex in the ’90s. These were women who felt the need to write about want, desire, pleasure and other taboo information. Taboo because we were talking about our bodies and sexuality in ways we never had, at least publicly and en masse. Think forward, and think of what even the sweetest pop star imaginable, Katy Perry, is saying in virtually all of her songs: that she is a bi-curious, sexy dream-girl/gurl who refuses to “bite [her] tongue” any longer. Having been pushed down to the ground, she is up and roaring in the old-school manner of “I Am Woman.” She is Helen Reddy 2.0, in other words: no bowl-cut and cardigan, no dulcet tones, but the same fervent desire to tell us that we, as women, need not suffer oppression lightly; that we are a pride of powerful lions.
Lately, there has been a sea change, with a powerful sense of another killer wave coming—a “sexplosion.” Writer and former Variety editor Robert Hofler used the term in his fascinating book of the same name. But while his exhaustive, illuminating book focuses on the period from 1968-1973, the wild time that followed the sexual revolution, Hofler’s theories suggest that the future of sex will become less “man-made.” And it already has, of course. Female performers are busily upsetting ideas about sex and power, about the naked body and their perceived passivity.
In her graphic song “Pour It Up,” Rihanna sings, “That’s how we ball out,” in a voice that is virtually empty of inflection. And in the controversial video for the song—“The really sad thing is that she thinks she’s being edgy and sexy when in fact she is slowly destroying her soul,” commented one disquieted fan—she sings this chorus as she presides over a strip club, sitting on a throne in a diamond bra, collar and Lana Turner wig, talking like a man, acting like a woman and unsettling our idea of what it means to be either.

Girl can’t help it: All of Miley Cyrus’s crazy Bangerz tour costumes

Last Friday, Vancouver was treated to opening night of Miley Cyrus’s much-anticipated Bangerz tour. To nobody’s surprise, the concert’s visuals delved into XXX territory, including tongue prints, high-cut leotards and 24-karat gold leaf rolling papers on sale at the merch table. But hey, what else would you expect from the queen of twerk controversy?
Cyrus revealed the nine-piece wardrobe created by fashion BFF Marc Jacobs, The Blonds and Roberto Cavalli as previously reported, to name a few.
Sliding down an inflated model of her own tongue (natch), Cyrys kicked the night off in a custom two-piece red suit by stylist Simone Harouche accented with ostrich feather shoulder details. Accessorizing with a pair of white cowboys boots and a white Chanel mini cross body bag, the singer gyrated through a rendition of her song “SMS (Bangerz)” alongside a group of neon bears and balloons. Later, Cyrus swapped into a cannabis-covered deep-V leotard by The Blonds, keeping the cowboy boots but swapping the Chanel for a silver backpack by the brand.

Miley Cyrus makes for the best “Bob Mackie cowgirl” on MTV Unplugged

Miley Cyrus brought it all back home last night for a countrified edition of MTV Unplugged. As one of the only music-focused holdouts of the channel, Unplugged has long since been the place to make history (Nirvana’s cover of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold the World” and Lauryn Hill’s controversial follow up to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill are two biggies). And while Cyrus might not have reached VMA level in her bootie-on-bootie smack duet with Madonna, she once again proved her vocal chops. To boot, she proved that tacky is real trendy as of late in two over-the-top Nashville-approved looks.
Opening with an ultra twangy version of “4×4,” Cyrus went full out hoedown in a white bejewelled cowboy hat, blond bob wig and head-to-toe gingham cat suit custom made by her stylist Simone Harouche. The top featured a stud-encrusted yoke, which was worn open and filled with a bedazzled white necktie and shimmering belt. It was classic Dolly Parton (minus those famous double Ds), whom Cyrus covered later in the show with “Jolene.”

Roberto Cavalli releases costume sketches for Miley Cyrus’s upcoming Bangerz tour

By now, we’re no stranger to wardrobe changes during a big ticket event. Big name equals even bigger outfits. Anne Hathaway changed eight times during her, somewhat tumultuous, Oscars hosting gig. Taylor Swift had 11 changes on her Red Tour, including one 4.5 second costume change. Madonna, the biggest name of all, broke the Guinness World Record in 2000 for most costumes changes in a film—85 in Evita. So when Miley Cyrus announced her upcoming Bangerz tour, we knew there was gonna be some serious wardrobe action.
Not one to shy away, Cyrus has enlisted the services of some of the most notorious designers around, each to outfit her for segments of the show. Marc Jacobs, a close friend of the singer, is said to have designed a few, and if his finale at Louis Vuitton is anything to go by, we know we can expect some in-your-face designs. And we mean that in the best way possible. Cyrus has also tapped the design duo behind The Blonds, of Beyoncé’s ‘boob suit’ as well as her own New Years Eve gold suit, as well as some archive pieces from legendary designer Bob Mackie, the man behind all those infamous Cher outfits. So far, lots of designers with oodles of shock factor.

UPDATED: Miley Cyrus stars in Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2014 ad campaign
See the Miley Cyrus for Marc Jacobs campaign images »
Well, can’t say we didn’t see this coming. After almost a year of fashion dating, Marc Jacobs has finally made Miley Cyrus his girl a.k.a. the star of his Spring 2014 campaign. Always game for a wild one, Jacobs dressed the singer in fishnet for last year’s punk themed Met Gala, sat her front row at his fall show and most recently, featured her nudie bootie in his range of iconic “Protect your skin” T-shirts.
For Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2014 ad campaign, the designer casts Cyrus as a modern-day Christopher Columbus, perched in the sand in his Hawaiian pirate wares. Staring off into the distance, Cyrus wears a fairly uncharacteristic facial expression (and by that we mean no tongue), which falls perfectly in line with the earnest nature of her latest single, “Adore You.” Fitting, cause we pretty much adore everything about this pop-fashion meet-cute.

Capping off a year in style always seems so, for lack of a better word, crazy. But many of them, like this, this and this will just live in our mind for
all eternityuntil we fixate on something else. Meanwhile, here’s who we think was at the top of their game in 2013.

AMAs 2013: Our top 5 picks for best dressed on the red carpet
See the AMAs 2013 red carpet looks »
The biggest stars in music took over Los Angeles last night for the annual American Music Awards. From Miley Cyrus’s tongue-wagging kitty to Lady Gaga’s red carpet arrival on a white two-manned faux horse, the show was nothing short of spectacular.
On the red carpet, Miley Cyrus (sans bleached eyebrows) was surprisingly modest in a white Versus white pantsuit with black Saint Laurent pumps. Once inside though, it didn’t take long for the singer to return to her signature rebellious ways when she rocked a cat print crop top and high-waisted bikini bottom by Brit designer Markus Lupfer during her performance. In other attention grabbing sartorial choices, Lady Gaga, the newly appointed face of Versace, wore a lavender dress from the brand’s Spring 2014 collection. In eerily brilliant branding, she appeared the doppelganger of Donatella herself.

Miley Cyrus has bleached her eyebrows and (of course!) looks totally fierce
Because we are obsessed with everything Miley Cyrus, our radar is blowing up with the star’s latest radical alteration. She’s ditched the full dark eyebrows we’ve come to know (and secretly covet) for a pair of platinum blond arches.
Cyrus’s barely-there-brows sent the internet into a frenzy last night, after making a debut on Lily Allen’s Instagram. (The pair were out partying in L.A., as young, popular stars tend to do.) Never one to hide from social media, Cyrus also shared a snap of her new brows—while posing with Miranda Kerr, no less.
Given that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire comes out tomorrow, we have to ask: Could our favourite limit pusher be channeling the over-the-top women from the Capitol with their bleached brows? On the other non-fictional hand, the notable lightened arches of Lady Gaga and just about every model on the Gucci Fall 2013 runway could have also inspired the bleach job.
