See the Ciara for Roberto Cavalli Fall 2015 campaign in all its sandy glory
Early this morning, Peter Dundas announced via Instagram that R&B singer Ciara is face of the Roberto Cavalli Fall 2015 campaign. 2015 is proving to be a busy one for the new mom as she is currently promoting her latest album Jackie. Dundas, who joined the house in March after heading Emilio Pucci since 2008, naturally tapped the singer […]

They said/We said: Giles Deacon splits from Ungaro, do we hear Vuitton in his future?
This morning, news broke that Giles Deacon is no longer working as creative director and leading designer at Ungaro. The story of the reported mutual breakup is being met with surprise, coming just weeks shy of Paris fashion week, and after only two collections (and two very well received collections at that) with the Parisian fashion house. The Spring 2012 line will be the last collab between Deacon and Ungaro, and is rumoured to not even have been designed by Deacon himself, but instead “reflect the work of the design team.”
Deacon was the latest in a long list of short-lived collaborations with the likes of Giambattista Valli, Peter Dundas, Esteban Cortazar and even Lindsay Lohan. His departure begs the question: is the brand stable?
Having such a tumultuous staff does not bode well, and with no replacement named, we will wait with baited breath to see what the future holds for the Ungaro name as well as its place within the industry.

They said/We said: We weigh in on Anja Rubik’s mullet wedding dress
Anja Rubik has joined the ranks of Natasha Poly, Lily Aldridge and Kate Moss as the newest wedded supermodel. The face of Fendi married her fiancé and fellow model Sasha Knezevic this past Saturday (and to think we were busy watching TV!) at a church in Deià on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The couple was blessed with a picture-perfect day—in addition to their genetic superiority—which helped make the day look like a high-end campaign rather than a real-life wedding.
The only potential crimp in the picture? Rubik’s custom-made Peter Dundas dress, which struck some as mullet-esque. In somewhat of a shocking reveal, the hemline was (super) short in the front and drew out into a long, layered train. We’re guessing her thought process went something like, “Just look at these legs.” Belted at the waist and fuller in the bottom, the white silk was a perfect contrast to Rubik’s dark tan. The model’s upper back was covered with lace, which came together with a bow at her neck.
But back to that mullet. For some, wedding gowns are best as classic, simple pieces. But to be fair, Rubik was staying true to her own taste with a touch of bohemian and rock ‘n’ roll. The dress had both Rubik and Dundas written all over it, whether the critics liked it or not.

MFW diary: Sports in the Swiss Alps at Sportmax, Jil Sander and Emilio Pucci
It was nice to catch up with Deena Weinberg, owner of Toronto’s Max Mara shop at the Sportmax show. It’s a little out of context for the two of us, we’re more often caught sweating on our bikes at Sunday morning spin class than at a fashion show! The collection was big on coats with swingy tweed toppers, parkas and a particularly strong rusty patent leather floor length trench. Texture was the name of the game with sheer appliqued embroidered floral prints, chunky rib knits, sequins and this season’s obligatory coloured fur.
