Go west, young shopper! Quebec-based department store Simons is opening in Edmonton

Image courtesy Simons After 170 years of being located strictly in Quebec, Simons is ready to make a move west. In October the department store will open its doors in Alberta at the West Edmonton Mall.
Amongst the roller coasters and water parks in the giant mall, Simons will occupy 95,000 square feet (that’s a lot of feet!) and will sell international brands like Missoni and Balmain as well as its well-loved in-house brand.

Nail Corner: Keep it classic with leopard-print nail art
From the Luoboutin heels that Carly Rae Jepsen is wearing on the cover of our October issue to all the animal print accessories that got a spot in our Fall/Winter 2012 trends guide, there’s never been a better time to paint leopard-print spots on your nails. It’s a fan favourite for nail art that can done in endless colour combinations—but we think it looks best in the classic shades of tawny-brown, copper and black. The muted colours of a leopard-print manicure is also a clever way to sneak some nail art into otherwise formal occasions. (Say, for instance, a family-filled Thanksgiving dinner?) Above all else, leopard-print spots are easy to master: all you need is a dotting tool!

Get the look: Take animal prints literally with 10 cat, bird and snake picks under $100
Kanye West and Liv Tyler battled it out for who wore the Givenchy Rottweiler tee better and Hanneli Mustaparta repped crazy cat ladies everywhere in her cropped Opening Ceremony cat knit. Since then, the literal animal print has taken over streets.
Animals also took over New York Fashion Week and if it taught us anything, it’s that any animal goes. Proenza Schouler handed out ballcaps with embroidered cats at their spring 2013 collection’s after-party (how can we get one?!) and Marc Jacobs took the one and only Mickey Mouse and put him on a cropped sweater. And leave it to Man Repeller‘s Leandra Medine, to make the beaded sweater even cuter after she restyled it with a pair of boyfriend jeans on the set of Moda Operandi’s photoshoot of the collection. Only she can take Mickey Mouse from a man getter to a man repeller (hence her title).

Get the Look: 10 affordable pieces that up the ante on fall’s leather trend

Photo via Jeffrey Mayer/WireImage From cut-outs to bright colours, we’ve noticed a few celebs trying fall’s leather trend early, and we approve of the many ways its being re-imagined. Eva Longoria wowed us when she donned a laser cut Marchesa dress at the premier of her latest flick earlier this summer, and Emma Stone earned some serious style cred in the red leather Monique Lhuillier number she wore on the Tonight Show. Both of the stars balanced their leather looks with ladylike accessories—Eva paired hers with black patent pumps, and Emma completed her ensemble with a matching pair of Christian Louboutin heels and red lips. To avoid the biker chick look, we suggest you take note of Longoria and Stone’s longer hemlines, and stick to softer, feminine silhouettes.

Dare we dream to get our paws on the designer’s signature porcelain bowl-inspired skirts? You bet! And with prices ranging from $120–630, a Jason Wu for Target–paced shelf clearer is certainly likely.
