Get the look: 10 tropical-printed picks inspired by Proenza, Stella and Altuzarra all under $100
Gone are the days when Hawaiian prints were only worn by middle-aged men touring through Oahu. From Altuzarra to Alexander Wang, tropical patterns have taken on a new, infinitely more chic form this spring. Jaime King kept her saturated flora and fauna skirt by Proenza Schouler from looking kitschy by opting for sleek black, while Liya Kebede took a pared-down approach to the trend with a nude Proenza Schouler dress flanked by tropical birds from the duo’s fall collection. Yasmin Sewell, on the other hand, opted for an eclectic spin on the trend by pairing her tropical Stella McCartney top with a black-and-white patterned skirt.

Calgary shop notes: Good for your hair, and the Earth
This season, runways from Mary Katrantzou to Chanel were awash in ocean references. Get the beachy waves seen at Acne’s show by using Calgary-based sisters Anita and Nadia Saoud’s hair-care line TAJ10 (from $12, taj10.com), which is free of parabens and petroleum-based ingredients. Good for your hair and the Earth; Ariel would be proud.

Nail Corner: An under-the-sea gradient manicure inspired by Peter Pilotto
The single-nail style of gradient manicure has been making the rounds on nail blogs recently—thanks in part to its simple application method (I swear!) and its endless colour possibilities. It’s also a favourite of L.A.-based nail artist Madeline Poole, whose cheery sunset-ish designs will convince anyone to make this her next manicure. And when it comes to translating spring’s underwater trend into nail art, what could be better than a deep blue to foamy white gradient? Peter Pilotto’s aquatic print—as well as the illustration that accompanied it in our March issue—served as the perfect Nail Corner inspiration. Time to break out a makeup sponge and find out how to do this manicure!

Hello, kaleidoscopic prints: Mary Katrantzou is coming to Topshop!
What winter blues? Visions of spring just got a little bit more vibrant with the announcement of the Bay presenting Mary Katrantzou for Topshop this March at their Yorkdale Mall location!
Dare we dream to get our paws on the designer’s signature porcelain bowl-inspired skirts? You bet! The 10-piece spring capsule collection will be reminiscent of the surreal style we saw for fall, while keeping true to the Topshop girl’s aesthetic. And with prices ranging from $120–630, a Jason Wu for Target–paced shelf clearer is certainly likely.
