Couture diary: Christian Dior’s everlasting ode to the New Look
I don’t know what bigger news is: the return of the ‘80s pouf at Christian Dior’s spring 2011 haute couture show, or designer John Galliano’s own new ‘do, a lush and healthy-looking pixie. Very sexy and gamine!

Spring 2011 preview: What we loved at Paris Fashion Week
WHAT THEY’LL BE TALKING ABOUT IN 5 YEARS:
The Chanel show, which took over the entire Grand Palais with some 3,000 seats, 87 models and an 80-piece orchestra. -
Spring 2011 preview: What we loved at London Fashion Week
EVERYONE WAS TALKING ABOUT…
The four models who slipped at the Burberry Prorsum show; the French bulldog that appeared on the Mulberry catwalk; and the trek, in heels, up to the Topshop Unique show venue on the old Eurostar platform at Waterloo station. Seriously—couldn’t they make the moving sidewalk actually move? -
Spring 2011 preview: What we loved at New York fashion week
MY FAVOURITE…PARTY:
The reopening of Chanel’s SoHo store. The guest list included S.J.P., Liv Tyler, Jessica Stam, Blake Lively, DJ/It girl Alexa Chung and the man of the hour, Karl Lagerfeld. Guests channelled their inner Basquiat by grabbing a canister of Chanel-branded infrared spray paint from one of the handsome cater waiters and unleashing on the digital graffiti wall.MY FAVOURITE…SHOW:
Michael Kors’ sunshine state of mind. I can’t get enough of his cool-as-a-cucumber crinkled linens, tissue cashmeres and hand smocking.

Fashion news: Tom Ford’s new video
Leave it to Tom Ford to spark a blaze of fashion chatter. Ford has released the video for the first women’s collection under his own name – a spring 2011 show that happened in September but has gone mostly unreported until now, as per Ford’s wishes.

Alexander Wang lightens up his accessories for spring
Fashion’s wunderkind Alexander Wang has released images of his Spring 2011 accessories collection and much like his recent ready-to-wear collection, which the designer called “optimistic” and “pure,” the accessories line is a light and airy departure from his usually dark colour palette.
Past Wang best-sellers like the Rocco tote, the Diego bucket bag and the Freja open-toe booties received an update, courtesy rose gold hardware and pastel pebbled leather.
Standout pieces include an edgy satchel with multiple straps, ladylike frame bags and slouchy totes with studded bottoms. And for those who fear pastels, there are plenty of black pieces to round out your urban uniform.

Video: Travis Taddeo explains his morbidly-inspired spring collection
When I first received the invite for Travis Taddeo‘s spring and summer show and saw a picture of a noose, two things popped into my head. First, “This is going to be interesting.” Second, “How very Travis.”
The young designer’s show was held last month in Griffintown, a barren albeit “up-and-coming” area. By the time I arrived, all the other usual suspects had already been seated: Eva Friede from the Gazette, a slew of French and English bloggers, as well as Taddeo’s eclectic entourage that included Denis Gagnon, Yso, and Cary Tauben. As I read the designer’s press statement, I learned that Taddeo’s inspiration drew upon “slain celebrities where spirits of tragically erased stars reappear to haunt the designer’s new titillating collection.” That explained the T-shirts printed with River Phoenix’ face – and the noose. I don’t make this stuff up.

Vogue has the first photos of Tom Ford’s new womens line
Tom Ford may not love the way the Internet eats fashion, but he sure knows how to leave the blogging masses hungry. The designer made a triumphant return to womenswear with the debut of his Tom Ford womens line at an intimate show during New York Fashion Week. Or at least, we had to assume it was triumphant, as the designer did not allow any photographers to release images of the clothes, which were worn by top runway names, as well as Ford’s friends–Julianne Moore, Beyoncé, Karen Elson, Stella Tennant, et al.
Well, now we’re getting our meal–or at least a snack. Vogue‘s December issue features a spread shot by Steven Meisel, showing the clothes on some of the same models that appeared in the spring show.
