GLOW’s Alison Brie Doesn’t Want to Be Called a Comedic Actress
The room is dark, illuminated only by flashes of coloured arcade lights snaking across the ceiling. The instructor is shouting encouragement over crunchy EDM. I’ve never been to a Rise Nation session, but the concept is similar, I assume, to a spin class—only instead of stationary bikes, there are climbing machines that, in the low […]

The 12 best, worst and weirdest attempts at hiding baby bumps on TV shows
Our jaws collectively dropped to floor when we found out earlier today that not only is Alexis Bledel a mom, but the Gilmore Girls star has been a mom since last fall. Talk about a well-hidden pregnancy! While we’re certainly happy for the new mom and her hubby Vincent Kartheiser, we can’t help but wonder, […]

Christina Hendricks on why Anne of Green Gables is her ultimate beauty inspo
Since the Mad Men series finale, we’ve been in Sterling Cooper withdrawal, willing Kiernan Shipka, January Jones, and Jon Hamm to return to us, via a new Netflix series or primetime drama. Well, we have good news, Joan Holloway fans: Christina Hendricks has a new gig playing Trudy, the seductive ex-wife of a draft dodger […]

Decoding the outfits in Mad Men’s Season 7 promo shots
Mad Men Season 7 is bound to be tense, reflective and “up in the air,” but if we can discern anything from the just-released promo stills, it’s that the dawning of a new era means different things for different Drapers. The show’s final installment will take us into the 1970s, which is sure to muddy […]

8 wild TV to real life actor transformations, from “Crazy Eyes” to Pete Campbell
8 wild TV to real life actor transformations »
As many nationwide binge watchers can attest to, the new season of Orange is the New Black hit the web this weekend with more crazy than ever. Our favourite inmates are back and looking real busted. So busted in fact, that it was hard to believe any of them could be anything else in real life, a fact that was countered pretty shockingly at last week’s red carpet premiere in New York. Actress Uzo Aduba a.k.a. “Crazy Eyes” is shockingly glam for one, as is Taryn Manning, whose Podunk portrayals have been her signature since the early oughts.
With these transformations in mind, we had a look back at the IRL looks of some of our favourite television characters. From the big budget world of Game of Thrones (its recent “Blackwater” episode reportedly cost $8 million) to the ever-changing early 20th century styles on Downtown Abbey, here are 8 of the most drastic TV to real life actor transformations.

FASHION Magazine March 2014 Cover: Jessica Paré
There is a reason why playing one of the sultriest women on TV looks so effortless for Jessica Paré. The 33-year-old is a self-taught sensualist in real life who loves to indulge (spas, chocolate, travel, designer clothes, you name it) so stepping into her role as Megan on the award-winning drama, Mad Men, was something she felt completely suited for. In the last two seasons of the series (a new episode airs on April 13), the Québécoise actress particularly brought the heat as she managed to eclipse every scene she was in by her smouldering portrayal of Don Draper’s secretary-turned-wife. While immersing herself into the art deco surroundings of Beverly Hills’ Crescent Hotel, Paré is just as sleek as her television counterpart. Insisting on starting her interview with features editor Elio Iannacci with a glass of pino grigio, Paré offered her thoughts on style, stardom and the women of Sterling, Cooper & Partners after shooting FASHION’s March cover (on stands nationwide on February 17, 2014). Here is a sneak peek of her inside story:

Rachel McAdams vs. Mad Men’s Joan: Which redhead wore purple best?
Get a closer look at Rachel McAdams’ new red hair »
Today’s edition of Who Wore It Best is a battle of the redheads: Rachel McAdams at Jimmy Kimmel Live vs. Christina Hendricks as Joan in season six of Mad Men.
Rachel McAdams recently converted to being a ginger with a new auburn hair colour that she debuted on Monday night in Los Angeles. Wearing a two-piece purple ensemble on Jimmy Kimmel Live—and she made sure to explain that it was not a jumpsuit—she blabbed about living in Toronto (!!!) and told a hilarious story about the time a grocery store clerk gave her some pot. Canada’s sweetheart just got a little bit more real.
The combination of the entirely purple look with fiery red locks jogged our memory of a recent outfit worn by everyone’s favourite redhead, Joan Holloway/Harris. Joan’s similar two-piece outfit from the season six premiere of Mad Men doesn’t feature sheer paneling like McAdams’, but instead has a dark purple vest that allows a ruffled button-up to show through. We must remember that this is a show set in the past, you guys.
Purple is a great tone for those with reddish locks so who do you think wears the colour better? Vote in our poll!

Mad Men season 6: We preview Sunday’s premiere with 18 late-sixties era photos from the new season
See the Mad Men season 6 photos »
After last season’s never-endingly delayed start, I feel a bit trained to wait a long time for a new jolt of Mad Men. So much so, that Sunday’s season 6 premiere feels like a bonus and a half. When we left Don, Megan, Roger, Joan et al in 1967, tensions were running high. There was a suicide, a puberty scare, LSD, another affair, and as always, more drinking. There were also, as always, era-correct costumes for us sartorial minded watchers to sink our teeth into.
As we first spotted with Mad Men’s season 6 preview photos released back in January, the swinging late sixties are to be embraced with sky-high bouffant hair, empire waists and sideburns so good, they incited their own mock Twitter account.

5 questions with Coco Rocha: We meet up with the Canadian supermodel at Banana Republic’s latest Mad Men launch in LA
See the Banana Republic Mad Men Spring 2013 collection »
On Tuesday, Banana Republic’s latest Mad Men collaboration (available online now!) was launched at The Grove in sunny Los Angeles. Canadian supermodel Coca Rocha, who starred in the collection’s latest campaign, was on hand to chat and offer her take on the line at the Banana Republic “Mod Pod,” a repurposed glammed up trailer that was set up on the lawn and offering complimentary hair and makeup touchups (and a mini bottle of champagne!) to attendees. Guests previewed the line, which is comprised of classic silhouettes with modern accents, bright and beautifully patterned dresses, and an assortment of fun accessories.
Event goers were lucky enough to take home a piece from the collection, and I chose a very Megan Draper-esque shift dress with oversized pinstripes and a cut out at the back. FASHION also had the chance to chance to chat with Rocha and hear her thoughts on the line, what she misses most about Canada, and being a role model:

Banana Republic’s Mad Men Spring 2013 ads star Coco Rocha as Megan Draper
See the Banana Republic Mad Men ads starring Coco Rocha »
If the Spring 2013 runways were any indication, the 1960s are trendier than ever—a fact which can at least in some part be attributed to the ever growing popularity of Mad Men.
Capitalizing on this, as well as the popularity of its last two collaborative collections, Banana Republic is set to launch the third installment of Banana Republic Mad Men next Wednesday February 27.
The latest Banana Republic Mad Men collection is inspired by the series’ newest heroine, Megan Draper (played by Canadian actress, Jessica Paré) as well as the series’ newest phase in time: the late 1960s. Bright colours and bold prints dominate the collection and have us singing “Zou Bisou Bisou” all over again. The just-released ads starring Coco Rocha couldn’t say it better. Gone are the ultra-feminine Betty Draper-inspired full skirts of collections past and hello op-art prints and slim silhouettes!
