Fall 2014 Couture week has officially wrapped in Paris, and we’ve been daydreaming of the Pinterest-worthy dresses ever since. Although there are times when the designs are truly too outrageous for everyday wear and at a price point that is way above an average person’s budget (mainly the latter), we can’t deny our love and lust for these runway masterpieces. Thanks to celebrities and some very lucky street style stars, we can get a glimpse of couture in all its high-fashion glory. But before you raise your white flag and think couture is only for the elites, we’d like to let you know that you too can get on the action. How? We might as well pitch a tent and set up camp outside Holt Renfrew’s sleek Bloor Street entrance, because come September, it will be the place to be. Not only is Holt’s taking part in Fashion’s Night Out festivities September 6 (stay tuned for details!), but the store is also ringing in it’s monumental 175th birthday. In true Holt’s fashion, the Hot @175 anniversary will be rung in in style, with a slew of designer collaborations for sale in (what else?) signature magenta.

From its start in 1837 as a hat and cap shop in Quebec City to the go-to luxury mecca it is today, Holt’s has undeniably had a starring role in Canada’s retail legacy. To fête the occasion, everything from high-fashion designs like Christian Louboutin’s magenta-platform sling backs to fun finds like Pantone’s “Holt Renfrew Magenta” notebook will prove that even at 175, Holt’s still has it.

Loulou de la Falaise was a muse, collaborator, and designer, best known for her magnetic sense of style that inspired Yves Saint Laurent and captivated the rest of the world. With her passing last week, we lost a style icon who, from the decadent ‘70s until the present day, mixed party-girl and bohemian sensibilities to show off colourful, playful outfits and design show-stopping accessories. After grabbing a $10 raw vegan green juice (only in New York!) from the Chelsea Market to keep up my strength for all the hustle and bustle, I made my way over to the Alice + Olivia presentation to brush up on what all the girly partygoers will inevitably be wearing come spring. Kourtney Kardashian clearly had the same idea, as I saw the pint-sized reality star surveying the selection. The elaborate faux garden party set the stage for Betty Draper–inspired vintage cropped pants, juicy-hued full skirts, retro square-buckle belts, floral palazzo pants, and heaps of sequins. Feeling extra ladylike, I tried to snag a freebie Butter London manicure at the Aldo Salon Pop-Up Shop but, sadly, the manicurist was on break.
