Sterling Cooper for sale: Buy one of Joan’s dresses, or perhaps Don Draper’s desk
Sterling Cooper‘s assets are being auctioned off a piece at a time, which would be sad, were it not a set for a fictional company and if we weren’t distracted by the fact that you can also buy one of Joan “Joanie” Harris’ famously Roger-attracting dresses. Pieces from the Mad Men set, office furniture mostly, are being auctioned off on eBay to benefit City of Hope, a L.A. County hospital focused on cancer treatment.

Joe Fresh Style has teamed up with Rethink Breast Cancer to create this year’s Canadian edition of the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer–with the famous target done in wine, berry and fuchsia. At $12, this not only qualifies as a steal, but a good deed, too. And for an extra $4, you can pick of a […]

Todd Lynn is showing his fall collection in Toronto at Coco Rocha’s Strut for a Cure
When then 11-year-old Erika Campbell heard that her dad’s colleague was cycling across Canada in the annual Sears National Kids Cancer Ride, she wanted to put on a fashion show to help raise funds. Luckily she knew someone in the fashion biz–Campbell called her cousin Coco Rocha, who gathered 20 models from Elite agency (and […]

The daily steal: Soy candle, $44
Yeah, I know it costs more than I would spend on a dry-cleaning in a month, but let me explain. Juara’s pretty and lightly scented Hope Soy Candle ($44, beautymark.ca) burns for a ridiculously long time, emits smoke-free signals (thanks to being made from soy) and, here’s the best part, donates 10% of its proceeds […]

Spread the love at the Heartbeats for Africa art auction
Affairs of the heart are top-of-mind this month, but on the eve of Valentine’s Day, you’ll have a chance to spread the love around a little at the second edition of Heartbeats for Africa, a fundraiser to help women and children in Africa who are living with HIV/AIDS. The art auction is the brainchild of sisters Alison and Kate Lawler-Dean, who work in public relations and art consulting, respectively, and were inspired to create the event after reading Stephanie Nolan’s 28: Stories of AIDS in Africa. (The first Heartbeats was held in 2008.)

The daily steal: Rock tees for a cause, $25
Someday I know my collection of rock T-shirts will be worth money and now I can fuel my addiction (without having to deal with the club scene anymore) thanks to the Yellow Bird Project (yellowbirdproject.com). The Montreal-based non-profit that has some of the coolest indie bands of the day–Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear and the Dears […]

Baby’s first Lagerfeld: The Kaiser designs a doll
How is it possible that Karl Lagerfeld has so much free time on his hands? Aside from designing his own line and the multitude of Chanel collections, it seems like every other day the man releases some ancillary project. Does he never sleep? Anyway, today’s announcement comes in the form of a princess doll created […]

Frocktail hosts competitive shopping for a good cause
The first annual Frocktail Party combined cocktails and competitive shopping, with all proceeds going to fund juvenile diabetes research. Held in Toronto this past Thursday, the sold-out event saw women showing up to bid on more than 80 pre-loved dresses and accessories, and men following in their wake to see the Shark Week behavior of the bidding babes.
While tastes varied, all Frocktailees agreed that with 100 per cent of the nights profits going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation—the night was organized by a group of young ladies who had seen their friend Vanessa Oliver deal with the daily realities of living with juvenile diabetes—there was no guilt involved in splurging. See photos from the party after the jump.
