Kim Kardashian had a busy night on Instagram, posting selfies of her newly blonde locks. Last winter, Kardashian’s hair was a gorgeous, sandy blonde shade and once she went back to her natural colour, she tweeted her regret, saying: “I’m so annoyed I dyed my hair dark! I wanted to switch it up since I feel everyone went light, and we started filming a new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, so [I] wanted a fresh look. BUT now I am missing my light hair!”

And with our favourite A-listers happy to share pics on social media, it’s as if we were actually there (but not really). How can I curb shine without powdering repeatedly throughout the day?
There’s obviously an argument in favour of luminous skin in summer, but that usually means being in control of the areas that are radiant and glowing. If your rendition of “radiant and glowing” veers more towards “shiny mess,” then you probably should enlist the help of a product to reduce shine. Powdering your face is a bit high maintenance, and it’s also bound to lead to product build-up if you’re touching up throughout the day. Avoid that heavy look by misting your face with Face Atelier Ultra Matte ($40, faceatelier.com) instead. It can be used before or after makeup to minimize shine. The formula contains silicones that are heat-, moisture-, and sebum-resistant, which eliminates shine while giving skin an optical blur effect that softens the appearance of fine lines and pores. This stuff is a must-have for brides!

Fans of Gwyneth Paltrow’s perma-perfect blond locks take note: the actress, lifestyle expert, cook, author and Goop sensei has added another job to her portfolio: blow dry aficionado. Along with hairstylist David Babaii, Paltrow has been announced as partner and creative director of Blo Blow Dry Bar. The blow dry bar chain has carved itself something of a niche since launching in 2007 with its no cut, no colour, just blowouts philosophy. With Paltrow and Babaii’s input, the chain hopes to expand further, bringing red carpet glam to Gwyneth-devouts worldwide.

“I cannot wait to grow Blo with Gwyneth and David. Last night’s Met Gala could easily be described as overwhelming—it’s easier to list who wasn’t there than name all the stars who were. (But our best dressed gallery does a pretty good job!) When it came to the beauty, gone was last year’s hyper-colour punk inspiration. For the 2014 Met Gala, simplicity in hair and makeup was best.
