Fall 2018 Couture and the Movies They Most Resemble
Jean Paul Gaultier: Paris is Burning “’This Whole Thing Smacks Of Gender,’ i holler as i overturn my uncle’s barbeque grill and turn the 4th of July into the 4th of Shit,” is one of the greatest dril tweets of all time and also, coincidentally, a pretty good review of the Jean Paul Gaultier Fall […]

Chanel’s Fall 2017 Haute Couture Collection is a Love Letter to Paris
It would have been inspiring enough just to watch a live broadcast of the Chanel Fall 2017 Haute Couture show from the Grand Palais in Paris. It was thrilling to actually be there, seated under the 38-metre replica of the Eiffel Tower, but it was off the fashion Richter scale to touch the clothes at […]

Miranda Kerr Shares New Details About Her Dreamy Couture Wedding Gown
The photos are FINALLY here! Miranda Kerr’s intimate nuptials to Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel, which took place in the backyard of their California home (there were fewer than 50 guests) in May, were so shrouded in secrecy that we, the world, never even caught a glimpse of the supermodel in her wedding gown—SOB! But sound […]

Chanel Couture Fall 2017: See the Best-Dressed Celebs + Top Runway Looks
Just when you thought Karl Lagerfeld couldn’t top his Chanel sets anymore (we’re still thinking about the Fall 2017 life-size rocket), the Kaiser upped the ante and brought the world’s most-admired monument into the Grand Palais. That’s correct. For the Chanel Haute Couture Fall 2017 show, Lagerfeld installed a 38-metre high reproduction of the Eiffel […]

The Most Mesmerizing Beauty Looks at Spring 2017 Haute Couture Week
Otherworldly is one word that comes to mind when describing the beauty moments from Spring 2017 Haute Couture week. Given that couture is the crème de la crème of fashion, it’s not surprising to see beauty trends that are out of this world this time of year. Structured hair seems to be the biggest trend […]

Behind the scenes at Tanya Taylor’s wedding: From her haute couture wedding gown to the tropical paradise venue
See all the details, including Taylor’s Elie Saab couture dress »
As someone who didn’t grow up fantasizing about her big day, Tanya Taylor’s recent walk down the aisle had all the makings of a modern fairytale. The 27-year-old Toronto-born, New York-based designer—who recently showed her Fall 2013 ready-to-wear collection in both cities, earning high praise from editors and buyers alike—spent a year and a half ensuring that her April 20 destination wedding would be as stylish and personal as the clothes she creates. The idyllic locale—the luxe Sandy Lane resort in Barbados—certainly didn’t hurt, nor did the romantic nature of the groom, business development manager Michel Pratte. He proposed to Taylor, after a 10-year on-and-off courtship, with a poem and a spectacular antique ring—an 1890s old-mine-cut diamond in a 1920s art deco setting—that had caught her eye months earlier at an estate jewellery boutique. So far, so dreamy.
Then there was her magical dress: an intricately embellished cloud of white organza by ready-to-wear designer and couturier Elie Saab, based on a showstopper from his Fall 2012 haute couture show in Paris.

Did you know it takes 83 days to hand-embroider a Chanel couture jacket? Here are 10 things we learned while checking out their Fall 2012 collection in New York
Every little bit counts: Arriving early for my 9am appointment in New York City to check out Chanel’s Fall 2012 Couture collection, I was ushered into the elevator along with Chanel employees clad in head to toe tweed. Even the elevator decor had been thoughtfully attended to, with an oversized portrait of Coco Chanel that matched Karl Lagerfeld’s drawing on my invitation card.
Okay, maybe not entirely head to toe tweed: I knew the agony I went through when selecting my outfit was not in vain when I discovered that the Paris-based PR girl showing me around was wearing the same pair of Alexander Wang sandals. Phewf!

All the photos and backstage beauty scoop from Rad Hourani’s first couture collection
View the collection and beauty face charts! »
Montreal native Rad Hourani managed to make fashion history not just once, but twice last week: not only was he the first Canadian to show during haute couture week in Paris, but he was also the first designer to ever show a unisex haute couture collection.
He described his collection as “unisex, pure and complex” to FASHION Montreal editor Patricia Gajo last month, and the collection was all that and more: luxurious, sleek and meticulously tailored. The makeup and hair was also true to the Jordan-born designer’s bare-boned, androgynous style. At the hands of senior M.A.C artist Luc Bouchard, models were sent down the runway in a palette of neutrals inspired by “angelic creatures,” their slicked back hair baring their minimalist faces.

The inside scoop on Rad Hourani’s first Haute Couture collection, direct from the man himself!
If the fashion universe hasn’t already noticed, Jordan-native/Montrealer Rad Hourani is taking Paris by storm (fitting that his name means “thunder” in Arabic), never mind making history. On July 3, the model scout/stylist/designer/visionary will be the first Canadian to present an haute couture collection in the City of Light. This event is also unprecedented in that it will make Hourani the first unisex haute couture designer on the planet. Not bad, considering his label only celebrated its fifth anniversary this year. Not bad either when you remember he’s only 30, just turning so last Friday!
I managed to catch hold of the jetsetter just before he boarded a flight to Hong Kong. He was on his way to attend an exhibition in his honour, “Five Years of Unisex,” at I.T Hysan One, laudably one of the most artfully designed department stores in the world. Here’s the Rad update:

New nail polish alert! The beauty at Chanel haute couture is all about the blues
That blue makeup you invested in during the fall? It’s about to get a lot more mileage. From eyes to nails, everything was as blue as the sky at Chanel’s haute couture show today. (Not to mention the show itself: guests boarded “Chanel Air”—a set staged to look like they were flying in a custom luxury jet.)
While we wait for confirmation on the products used backstage, let’s discuss two things:
