On the eve of Sienna and Savannah Miller’s departures from Twenty8Twelve, we look back at the top 10 best and worst celebrity fashion lines
We were shocked to hear that one of the first (and few) celebrity lines to succeed, Twenty8Twelve, announced today that notoriously stylish Sienna Miller and her designer sister Savannah Miller have left the label. Come fall, the label will change its name from Twenty8Twelve by s. miller to Twenty8Twelve London. Despite the loss of the two co-creative directors, the brand will still show at the upcoming London fashion week, and has plans to expand into e-commerce and open a new store in New York (in addition to their successful London stores and sales in department stores worldwide).
This news about one of the most prominent celebrity lines got us thinking about celebrity status and fashion-line success. We revisit 10 of the best and worst celebrity fashion lines out there and give you our verdicts.

They said/We said: Katie Holmes gets nakie for her new jewellery campaign
Wowza! Katie Holmes is looking like we’ve never seen her before in ads by luxury jewellery brand, H.Stern. The usually demure (and somewhat eerily modest) 33-year-old actress and mother proves that she has still got it (or at least finally found it), sporting H.Stern jewels, wind-swept hair, kohl eyeliner, and not much else.
Sprawled on the beach and draped in regal jewellery, the drop-dead gorgeous Scientologist (there’s something we don’t say everyday!) glares intensely into the camera. We’ve got to ask, is anybody really noticing the jewellery?
The ads are currently running in Israel, but will grace America with their presence this fall.
THEY SAID:
Celebuzz: “In case anyone was wondering, yes, Katie Holmes has still got it.” [CELEBUZZ]
Global Grind: “We wonder what the Church of Scientology will have to say about Katie Holmes’ steamy new H. Stern advertisements.” [Global Grind]
E! online: “From stunning to sizzling! We get to see a whole lot more of Tom Cruise‘s better half. Make that sexier half!” [E!online]

TIFF 2011: Learn how not to pose for the photog from these celeb gaffes
It’s that time again. Toronto has rolled out the red carpet for an army of A-listers, all flocking to TIFF looking their most flashbulb-friendly. Sure, everybody has a “good side” in photographs, but no one works their angles (or, wrecks their angles, depending on who you ask) quite like a VIP.
Couture-clad celebutantes poised in the same goofy positions, doing the same silly faces, and looking all-around stupid for the paparazzi’s pleasure. So, which repellent poses take the cake? We’re all familiar with the traditional hand-on-hip and shoulder-peek-over, but FASHION has assembled a list of the top five posing offenses, and their frequent perpetrators, with tips on how to avoid making the same photo faux pas yourself.

Then and now: These celebs and fashion insiders know how to do retro without going back in time
It’s no secret that we’re all a little fixated with the styles of the past. Each season, a reference (or many) to full skirts, bellbottoms, or drop waists pops up on the runway, and we embrace it with a fresh new take on how to dress it up. Riffing on the past without looking like you came out of a time machine though—therein lies the rub. Before you delve into your old gems, take a look at how the style icons of today have interpreted the icons of days gone by.

Pink lady: Costumer Christopher Hargadon on recreating the Kennedys
Attempting to recreate the wardrobes of one of America’s most documented families sounds like entering a maze that’s impossible to navigate. “It was all-consuming,” admits costumer Christopher Hargadon of History Television’s spring miniseries The Kennedys, a scripted biopic on the rise of the mythic clan. Speaking from his Toronto studio about the task of dressing some 150 characters—Katie Holmes’ Jackie alone has about 50 costume changes—he says his main concern was finding fabrics that reflected the time, like the type of wool used in men’s suits. To mimic the intricate embroidery of one of Jackie’s evening gowns, Hargadon spent hours hand-painting the onscreen replica.

Just what the men’s fashion world needed; Marks & Spencer will be releasing a line of men’s underwear inspired by Robert Pattinson. Our hearts go out to the dudes who succumb to these manties after being pressured by their girlfriends. [StyleList]
