Video: Behind the scenes with Beyoncé’s tour stylists
While some might have you believe that the magic of Beyoncé is just that, magic, the queen is revealing the team of stylists that help her prep for daily global domination. The latest installment in a string of behind-the-scenes tour videos released on her YouTube page provides some serious designer eye-candy as we delve into the wonderful world of wardrobe for the Mrs. Carter World Tour. In the video, tour stylists Ty Hunter and Raquel Smith give an up close and personal look at all the different tour outfits and share how looks are chosen, how they come together and some insider details on those quick costume changes (think layers) from Givenchy to Ungaro and beyond. One Versace employee shares how long it took to make that insane white and silver fitted number (spoiler: a paltry 300 hours). For the Crazy in Love segment, the secret to better on-stage twerking is revealed and it includes plenty of ruffled patent leather.

They said/We said: Rihanna plans to launch a clothing line
Just when we thought the world had enough (or one too many) celebrity clothing lines, Rihanna decided to give us another one. Yes, the Barbadian singer took to On Air with Ryan Secreast to announce her intentions of launching a fashion line of her own.
While RiRi doesn’t actually have any design chops of her own (then again, when has that ever mattered before?), she intends on earning the respect of the fashion industry by working closely with designers:
“This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I’m working with designers. Designers that I respect, and [fashion] companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say ‘Buy it, because it’s mine.'” Hmmm, is this starting to sound suspiciously like Kanye West part 2 to anyone else?
To be fair, Rihanna does have some serious commercial power behind her. After being spotted on the Jonathan Ross Show in head-to-toe Boy London, UK retailer Selfridges saw sales of the brand soar 45 per cent overnight. And then there’s her two-year-strong “design collaboration” with Emporio Armani (though the word “collaboration” has literally lost all meaning to us ever since Lindsay Lohan pastied Ungaro).
Maybe we’ll be eating our words in a year’s time, but we’re not too optimistic. While the singer has had some major fashion wins of late (think: her “self-designed” Armani Grammy gown) sometimes her taste is just a tad questionable. Remember her Thug Life tattoo? We do. And frankly, we’re not #overit.

They said/We said: Chado Ralph Rucci cancels NYFW runway show
First Phoebe Philo, now Ralph Rucci. Luxury line Chado Ralph Rucci announced today that it is cancelling its upcoming Fall 2012 runway show, and opting for more intimate showroom appointments instead.
The designer (who you may remember from his diva-esque cameo on Kell on Earth) was set to show on February 12, during the same time slot as Tommy Hilfiger (an undeniable NYFW staple). Of course, this has people questioning whether the Rucci camp moved the show to avoid press and buyer competition with Hilfiger.
Of course Rucci’s sister, Rosina Rucci, shot down all those rumours, telling WWD, “Tommy’s audience is decidedly not ours.”
Others are speculating that this is all about finances, citing Ungaro’s recent decision to cancel its Pre-Fall and Fall shows. But given that Ungaro also sent models with heart-shaped nipple pasties down the runway at the behest of Lindsay Lohan, we find it hard to compare the two.
We hope this isn’t a sign of difficulties (monetary or otherwise) in the Rucci camp. Whatever the reason may be, we just hope we can see snaps of the collection online. We love us some American couture.

On the eve of Sienna and Savannah Miller’s departures from Twenty8Twelve, we look back at the top 10 best and worst celebrity fashion lines
We were shocked to hear that one of the first (and few) celebrity lines to succeed, Twenty8Twelve, announced today that notoriously stylish Sienna Miller and her designer sister Savannah Miller have left the label. Come fall, the label will change its name from Twenty8Twelve by s. miller to Twenty8Twelve London. Despite the loss of the two co-creative directors, the brand will still show at the upcoming London fashion week, and has plans to expand into e-commerce and open a new store in New York (in addition to their successful London stores and sales in department stores worldwide).
This news about one of the most prominent celebrity lines got us thinking about celebrity status and fashion-line success. We revisit 10 of the best and worst celebrity fashion lines out there and give you our verdicts.

Fashion news: Stella McCartney is pregnant, Giles back in London and Jonathan Saunders for Toy Story 3
Stella McCartney is expecting her fourth child later this year. Congrats! [Vogue UK]
While the New York Post referred to Lady Gaga‘s outlandish appearance at her sister’s graduation as her way of “getting back at the bitches who mocked her lust for stardom,” a recent article in WWD suggests it’s more of a once-an-attention-seeker-always-an-attention-seeker kind of thing. Apparently she was no different in high school, though she didn’t have Giorgio and Miuccia on her side back then. [WWD]

Fashion news: Estrella Archs leaves Ungaro, Vera Wang + David’s Bridal, and Rodarte’s carnival game
The dusty Ungaro drama is far from settling, with the announcement today that Estrella Archs leaving the label. “Estrella Archs announces that she has left her job as chief designer of Emanuel Ungaro due to irreconcilable differences related to the creative direction of the brand,” a spokesperson for the designer confirmed. [Vogue UK]
Anna Wintour spoke at the Pratt Institute last night in a tribute to Irving Penn, and we got a glimpse into the softer side of the Vogue editor-in-chief, calling Penn a “seductive” man who she immediately had “an intellectual crush [on].” She concluded her speech quite emotionally, saying “He made me a better editor. He was always in my head…. Irving’s gifts to us will not end.” [Fashionista]

Jonny Johansson, the founder of Acne, has said he would like his label to be recognized for more than their slim fitting jeans. The brand is also home to a full clothing line as well as a magazine Johansson started called Acne Paper. This collective began with Johansson’s past dabbling in furniture design, music and fashion—with the full name of Ambition to Create Novel Expressions an indicator of the far-reaching creative abilities of the man behind the jeans company. A collaboration with Alber Elbaz has taken Acne into a luxury standard and higher price point—giving the company its much-deserved appreciation in the design community and building its rep. [NY Times]
