Fashion on film: The 9 best cinematic style moments of 2013
While red carpet celebrities continue to be the ambassadors of choice for luxury brands, big studio film-making was bound to get a little haute with their marketing tie-ins this year, resulting in some of the best on-screen fashion moments we’ve seen in ages. Prada got behind The Great Gatsby and Alexander McQueen dressed Effie Trinket in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Meanwhile, Blue Jasmine’s many alcohol-fueled meltdowns were accessorized in everything from Hermès to Louis Vuitton.
Here, we take a look back at the year in cinematic fashion and count down the 9 best fashion on film moments of 2013. There were plenty to choose from:

Top 10 model celebrity couples: In honour of Behati Prinsloo and Adam Levine’s engagement, we count ’em down

Rumour has it that Adam Levine has decided to put a ring on it. It, being Victoria’s Secret model Bahati Prinsloo’s finger. Though we find it hard to believe that the singer, who doubles as a notorious modelizer, is wanting to settle down already, the musician’s publicist has confirmed that the engagement rumours are indeed true. Prinsloo and Levine first started dating shortly after the singer’s very public breakup with fellow Angel Anna Vyalitsyna (that has to call for some back stage tension). The tatted Maroon 5 front man and star of hit show The Voice refuses to embrace the womanizer label he’s been given, telling Details Magazine he just really loves women.

Cannes amfAR Gala: We rub shoulders with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jessica Chastain and more at the star-studded charity night

It was a cool, wet week for the Cannes Film Festival, but the skies cleared in time to cast a warm glow over the 20th annual Cinema Against AIDS amfAR (the Foundation for AIDS research) Gala at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc.
Our tinted Mercedes SUV was one of many that lined a steep incline to the luxurious venue just outside of Cannes. After passing through gates (with a smattering of fans waving), we were led past a pack of photographers who urged us civilians to “hurry up!” so they could shoot the likes of Heidi Klum, Karlie Kloss, Joan Smalls, Aishwarya Rai, Rosario Dawson and Zhang Ziyi.
Inside the main house we spotted Adrien Brody waiting for his girlfriend outside a washroom, while John Taylor of Duran Duran air-kissed a friend. We moved to the rear of the building to arrive atop a wide dramatic staircase. A long path leading to the sea was covered in a cushion-like platform. Perhaps to protect the grass? Or visitors’ heels?
Nearby we saw Jessica Chastain and Milla Jovovich posing playfully with host Sharon Stone for an event photographer. Down the stairs were tables stacked with Moët & Chandon Imperial. I drained my glass as Jeremy Renner popped out from a shrub and Pucci designer Peter Dundas wandered by laughing, with two models on either arm. A ragtime jazz band played as we followed the band in to dinner. En route we passed a seated Leonardo DiCaprio talking with Goldie Hawn—over the evening he was lauded repeatedly for his philanthropic efforts.

The British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) took place in London last night, and while the temperatures outside were chilly to say the least, snow didn’t stop the winners and nominees from attending Grey Goose’s red hot after party celebrating the Weinstein Company’s nominated films: Silver Linings Playbook, Django Unchained and The Master.
Many of the aforementioned films’ stars attended, including Hollywood’s It girl of the moment Jennifer Lawrence who shined in a sequined strapless Dior Haute Couture gown, slicked back hair and Chopard dangle earrings. As the party got underway, Lawrence and her Silver Linings Playbook co-star Bradley Cooper were back into the dancing swing of their Playbook characters, getting down on the dance floor with Michael Fassbender and British actress Alice Eve. If these photos are any indication, there was plenty of sweat and fun to be had. Also in attendance, Amy Adams looked gorgeous in a knee-length, beaded turquoise number (ID Pending).

Trunks show: St-Tropez makes a splash in Montreal
I love suit shopping (bathing suits, that is) and this season men’s swimwear is making a splash in Montreal. Finally, the St-Tropez brand Vilebrequin (vilebrequin.com) has opened its first Canadian shop at Ogilvy (1307 Ste-Catherine St. W., 514-842-7711, ogilvycanada.com). Known for its bright and quirky prints, this label’s fans include Prince William and Hollywood royals like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise. Now, if only Vilebrequin would design swimwear for women.

Fashion news: Hamish Bowles goes camping, Angelina Jolie may star in Gucci film, and Adriana Lima tries acting
Vogue’s European Editor at Large Hamish Bowles spent some time roughing it in the country, reluctantly prepping a piece for Vogue’s environment issue. The fashion journalist ate what he thought was bear feces–but turned out to be only dates–a prank concocted by Hamish’s scout leader. [Vogue]
Woody Allen’s latest muse is Adriana Lima, whom Allen is said to be writing into his next screenplay. Model chum Agyness Deyn has also caught the acting bug; she’ll be appearing in Peter McGough’s upcoming short film. But can these pretty faces transfer their talent to the big screen? We’ll be watching. [Yahoo!]
