Like it or not, Toronto Fashion Week is here, and it’s here for the next three weeks. From now until March 19, prepare to be inundated with all the fabulousness (and sometimes the unfabulousness) from the shows.

First up, we’re reporting from last night’s Mackage show. In celebration of the brand’s 10^th anniversary, founders Elisa Dahan and Eran Elfassy brought the circus to the Fermenting Cellar in the city’s Distillery District. Special guest stars Heather Marks and Rick Genest (a.k.a. Zombie Boy) opened and closed the show respectively. Complete with snow cones, cotton-candy cocktails, scantily clad servers, and fortune-tellers, all the hullaballoo was memorable—but perhaps unnecessary—when paired with the brand’s stellar collection of leather and wool–mix coats and jackets, tailored-to-perfection secretary dresses, and multi-zipped moto jackets.

Staying warm during winter without sacrificing style is a veritable art for cold-weather warriors in Montreal. What’s on my outerwear radar this month? Local lines Mackage, Soïa & Kyo, Moose Knuckles (think chic puffers) and Rud, the new collection by Rudsak (rudbyrudsak.com).

When the mercury drops to 30 degrees below zero, I often long for the warm sand beaches of Trinidad and Tobago. My only consolation is beautiful winter wear I can flaunt while braving the blizzards. In fact, one of the primary reasons I adore living in Alberta, Edmonton in particular, is the four distinct seasons we have, which, for me, translates into four fabulous wardrobes (and some multi-tasking transitional pieces).

Question: Has spring already passed me by? With the weather at a balmy 10 degrees and a cream Burberry duster coat sweetly whispering “spring” in my ear, I am already thinking about the new collections and knitwear for Fall 2007. On the (stilettoed) heels of the fall international collections in Milan and Paris, Toronto’s L’Oreal Fashion Week has officially begun with all of its fanfare, fashionistas and fabulousness.
