Coachella 2013: Capturing the brightest and best fashions during the festival’s second weekend
Photography by Dana Richardson Blewett See the street style photos from Coachella Weekend 2 »
It’s the great Coachella debate: which weekend is better? Because Coachella has two weekends for maximal festival party times, last week, we saw everything we expected from festivalgoers from floral crowns to 90s throwback hairstyles and this weekend, it’s a similar story with different dates.
Toronto-based photographer, Dana Richardson Blewett, worked her way through the festival grounds at Coachella 2013, to capture the scene as people danced to Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Major Lazer and Wu-Tang Clan in short-shorts, prints, and crocheted pieces.

Coachella 2013: 20 of the best fashion statements spotted during the festival’s epic first weekend

What would our Instagram feeds be like without Coachella? 2013’s music season is officially underway and its always-awesome burst of festival fashion couldn’t have come at a more welcome time. While the rest of us were begging for anything over 10˚c, we lived vicariously through shots of Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine and Alexa Chung bathing in the Californian sun while they, and the rest of the massive crowd, enjoyed epic sets but some of music’s greats (ahem Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Roses, New Order) and one very special video preview of Daft Punk’s much anticipated new album. Ah, the life.

Outside Lands style snaps: Our 10 favourite looks from San Francisco’s hippest music festival
Photography by Sharlene Chiu The Outside Lands festival celebrated it’s fifth birthday this past weekend in the legendary Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and over 65, 000 people a day grooved to the tunes of Stevie Wonder, Jack White, The Kills, Bloc Party, Tanlines, Of Monsters and Men and Santigold. Known for SF’s obsessed foodie culture, Outside Lands’ food trucks almost stole the show with to-die-for fried chicken ‘n’ waffles, bacon funnel cakes, and pork belly buns. Style notes: the temps are chilly so expect at least three layers consisting of tank, sweater, leather jacket plus scarf, hat and gloves, all of course done in an effortless SF cool with a tinge of southwestern boho chic. See our favourite looks from the weekend.

Lollapalooza Style Snaps: 23 shots of bejewelled hairpieces, neon brights and fringe-wearing festivalgoers rocking out in Chicago
Photography by Jillian Lockwood It seems like half of Canada spent last weekend in Quebec for Osheaga and the Montreal Fashion & Design Festival and the other half headed southwest to Chicago for Lollapalooza. And while both festivals had their fair share of rain, Lolla attendees showed off some sweet summer styles right through to Sunday night. Check out our shots from Grant Park by Toronto photographer Jillian Lockwood—fringe skirts, American flag-print cut-offs and loads of brightly-coloured items were popular as ever.

Osheaga 2012: 45 photos of cut-off clad festivalgoers (and Florence Welch!) braving the heat in Montreal this weekend
Photography by Phil Birnbaum It’s no small feat to stay stylish and festival-ready when Mother Nature decides to cram lightning, torrential rain and paralyzing heat into the space of three short days, but as a whole, Osheaga’s festivalgoers managed to take the unpredictable weather this past weekend fashionably in stride.
Though typical festival garb showed up in full force (think flower crowns, ratty shorts and boho fringe), there was a decidedly more feminine and ‘50s-inspired sartorial lean. From a mint gingham halter dress to a bralette-and-circle-skirt combo, Osheaga’s female attendees somehow managed to strike a Betty-Draper-meets-Pocahontas golden mean, adding in unexpected elements to their femme pieces like an oversized pewter shark tooth or Montauk moccasins.

Music festival style snaps: Pitchfork 2012
Photography by Lauren Baker Despite a torrential downpour and sticky sweaty temps, music lovers hit Chicago this weekend for the annual Pitchfork Music Festival to see Feist, Sleigh Bells, Grimes, Dirty Projectors, Vampire Weekend and more perform on stage. In and amongst the crowds, Toronto vintage gal Lauren Baker attempted to shoot some of the cutest gals (not an easy task amidst the rain!) Lady Gaga was spotted in the crowd as well, but alas, we didn’t snap her. Here are some of our Gaga-less faves.

Catch up with last year’s music festival coverage »While we’ve been busy with all things Canadian fashion for the last few weeks, our friends south of the border have been living it up in the Austin sun for the two-week-long South by Southwest (SXSW) film, interactive, and music festival. While everyone from Bruce Springsteen to Jay-Z (!!!) to Sleigh Bells took to the stage, the stylin’ gals filled out the parties and the crowds in full force, including one Miss Alexa Chung, whom we snapped at the Spin magazine party in a rad metallic skirt, and two of the most babe-ular musicians, Margaux & Charly (they play violin and viola respectively), on bikes. Toronto-born and currently Austin-based writer and all around cool chick Lia Parsley was there to catch all the fashion action. And here, we bring you the best snaps!
