Beauty Fix: Tips to avoid flaky winter skin, how to finally embrace the marsala trend + more
I have a deep skin tone and find concealing dark circles just results in an ashy-looking undereye area. What am I doing wrong? We’ve always been taught to use a concealer that’s a shade or two lighter than our skin tone to conceal the undereye area. This is usually in order to brighten a dark […]

Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Orchid: From lipstick to nail polish to blush, purple is the colour of 2014
See the Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Orchid collection »
Last week Pantone announced Radiant Orchid as the official colour of 2014, putting an end to the reign of 2013’s Emerald. While we may take a few more months to say goodbye to our favourite statement-making pair of green pants, when it comes to beauty, we’re more than happy to usher in a colour that is so very versatile.
Think about it: from nail polish to lipstick, eyeshadow to blush, Radiant Orchid is an ideal shade—and one that wears well on all skin tones. Of course, Pantone is one step ahead of us, releasing the details today for their forthcoming cosmetics collection with Sephora.

See the Oz the Great and Powerful costumes up-close »
Disney’s new film Oz The Great and Powerful is opening in movie theatres tomorrow. And not only are we excited to see James Franco in L. Frank Baum’s classic Oz setting, but we also can’t wait to take in the film’s visually stunning fashion and cinematography.
Created by costume designers Gary Jones and Michael Kutsche, the fashion of Oz reflects the glitz and glamour of L. Frank Baum’s classic storybook setting, while frequently using emerald, ahem, Pantone’s Colour of the Year (How perfect!) Jones and Kutsche created almost 2000 costumes for the film, including several elaborate looks for the film’s witchy stars Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, and Rachel Weisz.

Farewell Tangerine Tango! Emerald has officially been announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year for 2013. In a press release published this morning, Pantone said of their new favourite hue:
“Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity.”

Holt Renfrew celebrates 175 years with specially-designed pieces from Christian Louboutin, Bobbi Brown, Michael Kors and a special appearance by Elton John!
See all the anniversary pieces! »
We might as well pitch a tent and set up camp outside Holt Renfrew’s sleek Bloor Street entrance, because come September, it will be the place to be. Not only is Holt’s taking part in Fashion’s Night Out festivities September 6 (stay tuned for details!), but the store is also ringing in it’s monumental 175th birthday. In true Holt’s fashion, the Hot @175 anniversary will be rung in in style, with a slew of designer collaborations for sale in (what else?) signature magenta.
From its start in 1837 as a hat and cap shop in Quebec City to the go-to luxury mecca it is today, Holt’s has undeniably had a starring role in Canada’s retail legacy. To fête the occasion, everything from high-fashion designs like Christian Louboutin’s magenta-platform sling backs to fun finds like Pantone’s “Holt Renfrew Magenta” notebook will prove that even at 175, Holt’s still has it.

Our top beauty picks to match Pantone’s 2012 colour of the year: Tangerine Tango
Pantone has announced the colour of the year for 2012 and our future is looking bright. Tangerine Tango (that’s Pantone number 7625C for the designers out there) is a punchy mix of orange, coral, and red—making it an extremely versatile shade for all skin tones. And, considering that Sephora and Pantone are rumoured to be working on a Tangerine Tango–inspired makeup collection for March 2012, it’s a good thing this chosen colour is so multifaceted.
