Society loves to witness fairy-tale romances turn happily ever after with the real-life fantasy of golden gilded carriages, sparkling tiaras, and larger than life pomp & circumstance. The lead up to […]

The Queen’s Last Corgi Has Died, But She Still Has Her Dorgis!
It’s hard to imagine Queen Elizabeth II without her furry, four-legged sidekicks at her feet. Ever since her father, King George VI, brought a pointy-eared pup back to Buckingham Palace in 1933, the Welsh breed has been the official animal accompaniment to Her Majesty and Co. Until now…(*reaches for tissue*.) Sadly, after 85 years of constant companionship, […]

9 Celebs and Their Furry Friends in Honour of National Dog Day
It’s National Dog Day, the one day of the year where I get to lament the fact that I still don’t have one. That’s ok, someday. He or she will be a mutt, mixed and medium in build. And they’ll never say they hate me. Just love, love, love. But till that day comes, I’ll […]

Kate Middleton pairs her Jenny Packham gown with the Queen’s diamonds, naturally

After two Kate Middleton-less months, our favourite duchess is finally back in the spotlight! Last night Kate attended a gala at the National Portrait Gallery, which is one of her official patronages, and the event was her first official engagement for 2014. Clearly we’re not the only ones taking note of all this official-ness: the Queen loaned Kate an impressive diamond necklace for the evening, one we’ve been fantasizing about since photos first emerged via the Twitter accounts of royal reporters.
The necklace (which looks like it would be right at home on the neck of another fabulous Elizabeth) was a wedding gift, given in 1947 from the Nizam of Hyderabad. Queen Elizabeth—who was just a princess at the time—selected the necklace from Cartier and it’s essentially diamonds on top of diamonds on top of even more diamonds, which is likely why it’s her favourite piece to wear for official portraits.

The official Prince George christening photos will warm your heart and make you love Kate even more
See all the official Prince George christening photos »
When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released the official christening photos for Prince George last week, his animated smile and little waving hands seemed to be saying something. Our baby body language skills being what they are, we’re going with something between “Heeeeeeeyyyyy!” and “Aren’t my parents the coolest?” Because really, both messages are there: the photos, taken by Jason Bell, are beyond friendly and demonstrate just how different the royal world of Will and Kate is compared to the monarchs-in-waiting of past.
The four photos all keep Prince George front and centre, whether he’s flanked by an adoring Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles or surrounded by the Middleton clan. (As for what Kate’s wearing, we have all outfit details here.) And if a smiling, waving Prince George wasn’t enough to brighten your weekend, on Sunday another photo was released, with the little one gazing into Kate’s eyes, smiles abound. Honestly, we encourage you to flip through all the Prince George christening photos any time you’re feeling down, they really do the trick.

Kate Middleton baby countdown: The Queen wants to go on holiday so could the royal baby hurry up?
See Kate Middleton’s maternity looks »
She may be the Queen of England, but just like us commoners, Kate Middleton’s due date is on her mind and she’s tired of waiting for the royal baby. This morning, while touring the her kingdom, a 10-year-old girl asked the Queen if she was hoping for a boy or girl. Her reply? She “didn’t really mind” either way but it better be soon: “’I’m going on holiday soon so I would like the baby to hurry up and arrive.”

Prince William’s got a fancy new Scottish title (that his great grandfather probably couldn’t say three times fast) and Kate’s wearing a beautiful new dress!
View this look in our Kate Middleton slideshow »
The Royals visited Edinburgh earlier today for a service we don’t think we can quite say out loud, but we’ll try to explain it without getting tongue-tied. Held at St. Giles Cathedral in the Scottish capital, Wills was installed as the Knight of the Thistle at a special thistle service. The Order of the Thistle (anyone making the connection to this scene from The King’s Speech but me?) is the highest honour of chivalry given in Scotland and can only been bestowed by the Queen herself (how convenient!) Since Kate and Wills are already known as the Earl and Countess of Strathearn in Scotland, we’re hoping some amazing new hybrid title becomes a gossip mag norm…

Kate Middleton will now have to curtsey to Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. As if!
Kate Middleton might be the future Queen of England, but she’s still a commoner by blood, a fact addressed in the updated list of royal protocols that is said to have circulated privately throughout the royal household last week. The list, which was approved by the Queen herself, places Kate below members of the House […]

All the glorious royal wardrobe details from Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee pageant!
For those of you who were still in REM mode yesterday morning, you missed quite the to-do yesterday in London. Okay, maybe a “to-do” is putting it mildly, when in actuality, Queen Elizabeth‘s 1000-boat-strong Diamond Jubilee river pageant was 60 years in the making, and also hasn’t happened since Queen Victoria‘s in 1897. So lets just say it was QUITE THE TO-DO! The Queen donned an Angela Kelly–designed boucle white coat with flecked gold ribbon embroidery and Swarovski crystals (what, no diamonds?)—reportedly so that she’d be visible from afar amidst all the naval uniforms. Aboard the gilded Spirit of Chartwell and flanked by the royal family in all their uniformed glory, the Queen gave the good ol’ royal wave for a good portion of the afternoon while millions of onlookers cheered her on from the banks of the Thames.
