MFW diary: Milan at its best at Dolce & Gabbana, Aquilano Rimondi, Versus and Salvatore Ferragamo
Dolce & Gabbana is about to begin. This is one show I never mind waiting for. And why would I? The seats in the Metropol theatre are cushy-comfy and actually have backs (YES!) There’s plenty to keep you entertained⎯from the waiter plying you with pizza and red wine at your seat, to the video scenes of backstage primping, people arriving, and front-row eds gossiping in their seats that is looped and playing overhead. Any moment, the theatre will go dark and like clockwork, my favourite, “Cavalleria Rusticana” will swell on the sound system and, from what I can see from the backstage video, fall will be another colossal hit for this dynamic duo. So far, from the monitor above me, I spy enormous star earrings, lace, and glitter galore! Sequins mix with fur and there’s a gender-bending mix of masculine/feminine… feels like classic Dolce to me!

Dispatch from Milan: A lacy affair at Dolce & Gabbana, plus schoolgirls at Versus, short-sleeve dresses and more
Yank your grandma’s white linen tablecloths off the table! If Dolce & Gabbana have their way, spring will be a lacy white affair with doilies, curtains and table linens doing double duty as pretty, feminine dresses, bloomers, corsets, lady suits and babydolls. The dynamic duo did their favorite silhouettes all in “bianco” lace, embroidery and broderie anglaise. With only a few soft floral prints, a smidge of black lace and some signature leopard prints thrown in the mix, the collection was almost singularly one note–and a clean, fresh and a fabulously feminine, one at that.

Fashion news: Crystal Renn’s Gaultier ad, Courtney Love’s style blog and Stella McCartney to design British Olympic uniforms
The Jean Paul Gaultier fall campaign has recently surfaced on the web. Shot by Inez and Vinoodh, the colourful photo features Crystal Renn, Chinese model Ping Hue and French model Kelly Moirera. [Fashionista]
Expect the British Olympic athletes of 2012 to be especially well-dressed. Stella McCartney has been appointed the creative director of Adidas’ 2012 Olympic Team GB uniforms. “As a British fashion designer it is an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be creative director of Team GB as the hosting nation of the London 2012 Olympic Games,” she says. Fashion news: Warhol for Ferragamo (kinda), Agent Provocateur to double its stores and a new Chanel polish to go crazy for
Claudia Schiffer, Sienna Miller and Kylie Minogue helped to raise awareness by stripping down to a sheet bearing a target logo, for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. [Fashion Indie]
Andy Warhol was the accidental inspiration behind a limited-edition Salvatore Ferragamo shoe. Here’s how it happened: Warhol often wore Ferragamos–the only men’s style that the shoe designer ever personally created–in his studio, leading to the shoe to be streaked with paint. After the painter died, Ferragamo’s family bought a pair of the paint-speckled shoes at auction. The company has created replicas, which will go on sale in the next few days. [WWD]

Fashion news: Marni sweets, champagne Louboutins and the Olsenboye parade
It was only a matter of time before Christian Louboutin’s shoe designs got delicate enough for a princess—Cinderella to be exact. Louboutin teamed up with champagne company Piper-Heidsieck to design a glass slipper that will be sold in the Le Rituel gift set along with a bottle of bubbly. [WSJ]
For shoe fanatics, Salvatore Ferragamo is launching an online store to make luxury shopping that much easier. A site dedicated to the company’s museum will also be available shortly at museoferragamo.com. [WWD]
