Bring a little beauty to Day of the Dead
Elettra Rossellini Wiedemann dressed as a Day of the Dead skeleton, photo by KEYSTONE Press Halloween might be over, but there’s still good reason to do something special with your beauty routine this morning: November 2 is Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead—the Mexican holiday that celebrates the departed. Bright flowers, sugar skulls, and colourful costumed skeletons are all iconic symbols of this holiday, and are gaining traction across mainstream culture. Both Elettra Wiedemann and Debra Messing showed up at the Hulaween Benefit Gala this weekend dressed like a skeleton à la Day of the Dead. Of course, not every office will appreciate a full painted-skull get up on your face, so here’s a few subtle ways to adjust your look.

Afternoon beauty fix: Get rid of those pesky white under-eye rings
When I see myself in photos, my eyes appear to be surrounded by white rings. What am I doing wrong with my concealer, and how do I fix it? Your concealer is too light for your skin tone. It should be halfway between your skin’s fairest and darkest tones and only slightly lighter than your […]

Afternoon beauty fix: Attack wrinkles and pimples all at once!
I’ve started to notice fine lines around my eyes and mouth, which is weird because my combination/oily skin still breaks out from time to time. Is there a foundation that will cover pimples and reverse wrinkles? Let me first address your comment that it seems “weird” to age and suffer from acne at the same […]

We’re pretty obsessed: Check out Stila’s summer getaway-inspired palette collection
There’s nothing like the term “limited edition” to get the beauty freaks, well, freaking. What’s more: This collection is beach-inspired, warm and full of what seems like solar energy.
Just in time for the first official week of summer, Stila debuts a series of five limited-edition travel palettes ($18 each, at Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutiques and Murale) inspired by top summer vacation spots—such as South Beach and The Hamptons—to be released periodically from now until the end of the season. Each palette is complete with themed eyeshadows, a blush and a bronzer. As if the makeup itself isn’t enough, it also contains a mirror and face chart with pro tips from Stila’s top experts.
Whether or not you actually plan on taking off to one of the five referenced luxe locales, you can certainly channel the part. Just don’t hurt your fellow shopaholics trying to get to them. It’s not very haute.
