Montreal shop notes: What’s new in Old Montreal
Ssense. Photography by Jane Heller. Old Montreal is sizzling these days. Whether it’s for cinq-à-sept cocktails, gallery-hopping or moonlit dinners, I often find myself there and invariably my credit card gets a workout.

LFW diary: 10 thoughts, in order, at Burberry
Photography by Ian Gavan/Stringer 1. There are some serious fashion peeps finding themselves in the second row: Lynn Yaeger, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Kate Lanphear, Derek Blasberg. Okay, maybe they’re not all that serious, but they’re all used to A1 treatment. Wonder how they feel about their industry fame being subjugated to Hollywood fame at a fashion show?

LFW diary: 101 Dalmatians at Topshop, Old-fashioned romanticism at Temperley
Topshop shot by Ian Gavan/Getty Images I’d be dead certain the Topshop Unique show was inspired by my Halloween costume, Cruella de Vil, had it not also been… Lady Gaga‘s Halloween costume. In any case, it was a Cruella, Cruella world at Old Billingsgate Market, this year’s expansive Topshop venue.

The daily steal: Velvet stripe T-shirt, $80
Velvet is all over the fall fashion pages, and stripes will be all over the spring ones. This T-shirt from Topshop ($80, jonathanandolivia.com) is a light, modern and sophisticated way to wear both.

The daily steal: Moto jeans, $85
Topshop calls these the “Skinny Ellie Trousers” ($85, us.topshop.com). Based on the name alone, I would choose them as a Steal (though the E at the end is unnecessary, I think), but I also love all the intricate moto details–perfect for a rock and roll ensemble.

Fashion news: Corinne Day dies, Kate Moss and Topshop end partnership, and is Tomas Maier next up for H&M?
British fashion photographer Corinne Day died Saturday at the age of 45. Day, whose photos of Kate Moss for The Face launched the model’s career, lost her battle with a brain tumor. [Fashionista]
H&M released a video dubbed “Designer Collaborations 2010” that stars a mystery male designer, who an eagle-eyed viewer spotted as Bottega Veneta designer Tomas Maier, sparking rumours of a collaboration. Just when we swear we’ll never line up for one of these things again…. [Fashionologie]
American designer Ralph Rucci has cancelled his runway show for the this year’s New York Fashion Week. Rucci’s president Vivan Natta will be taking an extended medical leave and Rucci has decided to hold individual appointments at his Soho showroom instead, a move he says will save the company US$500,000. The daily steal: Cross-body bag, $63
As an urban cyclist, the number one priority for a purse is that it must have cross-body capabilities. Weaving through cab drivers and jaywalking tourists is just that much harder when clutching for a shoulder bag’s dear little life. This one, ($63, topshop.com) fits the bill very nicely, and while the canvas is great for […]

Owner Jackie O’Brien-Jones added an extra 800 square feet to her ultra-contemporary shop to make room for the cheap(ish)-chic merch, which includes Topshop’s regular […]
