Inside the Joe Fresh afterparty: 20 photos of the stylish set proverbially kicking off their heels after the Fall 2013 fashion show
Check out the photos from the Joe Fresh after-party »
Given the well-heeled ladies and gents that show up for a Joe Fresh fashion show, you’d never believe the label’s wears run as affordably as they do. Though as any Loblaws shopper in Canada knows, they do. After last night’s punky all-black Fall 2013 outing, showgoers were looking to kick off their heels (proverbially speaking) with signature orange cocktails, mini tacos and pulsing DJ beats at the private watering hole, Storys.
Fresh off the Fresh runway, models Heather Marks, Meaghan Collison and a group of studly males in tight sweaters flooded the room with just enough impossible beauty to make the ogling worth it. Creative director Joe Mimran and wife Kimberley Newport-Mimran showed up in coordinated head-to-toe black suiting, adding their own luxe touch to the non-colour of the night. As the two cozied up to Loblaws frontman Galen Weston, nightclub impresario Charles Khabouth and our favourite dandy, Bruce C. Bailey, an informal dance party broke out with queen of the moves, Andrea Bolley, at the forefront. Just an average rip roaring night in Toronto as of late, it seems.

TFW diary: Fur’s homegrown moment at IZMA
On the international fashion scene, fur is having a major moment. From New York to Paris, it seemed as though the runways were rife with the fuzzy stuff. Serendipitous then, for Izzy Camilleri and Adrian Mainella of IZMA for whom fur is forte. And these are definitely not grandma’s fur coats. For fall, entirely modern bits like thick bands of gold studs, copper foil linings and micro mini hems, were mashed up with seriously ‘70s undertones such as evergreen furs, jumpsuits the colour of roasted squash and sheer burgundy velvet burnout.
There were highs—the colour blocked fur coats—and lows—an unflattering tuxedo onesie with voluminous pant, and unfortunate metallic sequined leggings. Should you happen to be invited to a black tie gala in an ice palace, the finale look would have you covered in a floor length fur gown complete with train and jeweled straps. Let the fur fly!

A new venue for LG Fashion Week. (Round 2)
We mentioned earlier today that LG Fashion Week would now be taking place at the Allstream Centre at Toronto’s Exhibition Place. According to a release sent today by the Fashion Design Council of Canada, the organization “requires a much larger canvas to articulate its vision” and that the warehouse at 30 Ordnance Street was a “romantic idea,” but fraught with logistical challenges. How a warehouse is romantic, we don’t know, so we’ll just join the chorus of tweeters who are just happy that there will be proper washrooms.

Fashionistas in space
This year’s Buy Design for Windfall (buydesignforwindfall.ca) fundraiser went off without a hitch this past weekend. Themed Buy Design in Space, the futuristic fashion set came out in droves to raise funds for the charity—Canada’s only new-clothing bank—with the always-exciting live and silent auctions (items included M.A.C and Chanel gift baskets and tickets for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra). We had our eye on a few prizes, but alas, nothing made it home with us. Not even the jam-packed gift bag, which we think we left in someone’s car! (Too many Moon Juice cocktails to remember!)
