Who did it best? Anne Hathaway and Julianne Hough’s classic Hollywood style (Plus! The engagement ring!)
Photos by Getty Images and Steve Granitz/WireImage The approach of winter always seems to bring out one thing on red carpets: the classic Hollywood approach to makeup. That is, deep red lips, thick black lashes and liner, and hair that’s swept into voluminous curls or a simple updo. This weekend, both Anne Hathaway and Julianne Hough graced the red carpet in this timeless manner.

Anne Hathaway keeps us entertained, Kate Moss joins the fashion film club and Lindsay Lohan sells her body for $2.1 million

The jury is still out on whether Anne Hathaway and James Franco were in fact worthy hosts at last night’s Oscars, but at least we had Anne’s constant outfit changes to keep us entertained. Which one was your favourite? [Blackbook]

Celeb poll: Vote for your favourite Golden Globes look!
Colour was everywhere on last night’s Golden Globes red carpet. So much so, that we are seriously considering a mid-winter makeover. From the emerald green worn by Angelina Jolie, Elizabeth Moss and Mila Kunis to the shades of bubblegum on Claire Danes, Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore, the spectrum was covered at every point.
This year, it also seemed that the ball gown was eschewed – with the exception of a few knockout odes from Catherine Zeta-Jones and Olivia Wilde – for the sleek and sexy cutout lines on Emma Stone, Anne Hathaway and January Jones.
Between all of these visual delights, who do you think did it the best? View the full looks after the jump!

Celeb poll: Lady Gaga vs. Anne Hathaway in the battle of the hip flaps
Lady Gaga by Neil Mockford/FilmMagic; Hathaway by Kevin Winter/Getty Images for AFI Today in Who Wore it Best: Hip Flap Edition, we have two very different stars, with very different personal styles and one possibly disconcerting sartorial detail in common. First we have Lady Gaga, who wore this tuxedo-ish number, with what look like portions of an Elizabethan neck ruff protruding from the jacket, out in London yesterday. Anne Hathaway sported a cream Antonio Berardi dress, sleek save the handkerchief attachments, to a gala screening of Love & Other Drugs at the AFI Fest in L.A.
So, who wore it best? Vote now!

Michael Kors as the hedges, Heidi Klum as an Amazonian robot alien, and more fashion Halloween costumes
Red carpet spotting is more fun on Halloween–there’s little in the way of simple column dresses and more of a push towards robots. Which is what we think Heidi Klum is dressed as for her annual Halloween bash. (Or maybe an alien? A Transformer? Help us out here.) Lanvin also threw a party at their […]

Red carpet round table: The best and the worst of the Met Gala
Photography by Kevin Mazur/WireImage/Getty Images Now that fashion week, the Globes and the Oscars are all done, we’ve been starved for serious red carpet action for the past couple of months. Last night’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Gala in New York at least promised to give us fodder for red carpet punditry. The theme was American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity–the exhibit currently on at the Met’s Costume Institute and the most awaited guest of the evening was the American fashion force Lady Gaga. She didn’t show up on the red carpet and the result was a mostly-expected line-up of dresses. (Though even Gaga wore an Armani bodysuit that was near-identical to the one she wore at the Oscars, so yawn.) Diane Kruger’s blazingly white Calvin Klein was the clear winner of the evening, but Gap’s “collaborations” with Rodarte, Sophie Theallet, Thakoon and Alexander Wang were an almost universal disappointment.
After the jump, features director Leah Rumack, fashion market editor Sarah Casselman and I dish on the best, the worst and the most, um, interesting ensembles of the night.
