SAG Awards 2013: View our top 12 red carpet picks and vote for your favourite
See our top 12 Sag Awards red carpet picks »
2013’s red carpet train continued last night, with the best and brightest Hollywood stars making a stop at the 19th annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. And as that train quickens its pace, we’re seeing many of the same trends featured at the Golden Globes shining through once again.
Continuing with the strapless red dress trend that was so popular at the Golden Globes, Jessica Chastain matched her ginger locks with a bright red fitted Alexander McQueen gown with wrapped sweetheart neckline. In the white corner, Sofia Vergara and Naomi Watts wowed in Donna Karen Atelier and Marchesa respectively. Shining the brightest though, was Kerry Washington in an incredible white strapless Rodarte gown with silver lace and embroidery.
Michelle Dockery wore a black vintage Chado Ralph Rucci dress that caused excitement with sheer panels that revealed a bit of side boob. New mom Claire Danes once again flaunted her post-baby figure in a black one shouldered Givenchy gown that featured a thigh high slit with a graphic black and white design highlighting the slit.
Fitted silhouettes were also a big trend at the SAG Awards, with Amanda Seyfried and Jennifer Garner at opposite ends of the colour spectrum—Seyfried in navy blue Zac Posen and Garner in gold Oscar de la Renta.
Jennifer Lawrence followed suit in a strapless navy Dior Haute Couture gown that she looked gorgeous in despite battling walking pneumonia (and despite the rip or maybe a slip that could be heard around the world).

Golden Globes 2013: Our 4 favourite hair and makeup trends from the red carpet
See our top beauty trends from the 2013 Golden Globes »
While there were many head-turning moments on the red carpet at last night’s Golden Globes Awards, four beauty trends stand out above the rest. Blue eyeshadow is making a strong case for its return in popularity—but don’t fret, this isn’t the pastel shade that dominated the ’80s. Kerry Washington wore blue with a multi-dimensional shimmer and Nicole Kidman used it add some colour to her otherwise almost-monochrome look. Lena Dunham and Anne Hathaway showed us two ways to style short hair—we’ll let you decide who did it better. Also interesting: A number of stars opted to keep it simple, forgoing the typical updo and letting their hair down for a natural look on the red carpet. And if you thought there was a lot of red and orange last night, what about the lipstick? We reveal who took home the award for best lip colour at last night’s Golden Globes.

Critics’ Choice Awards 2013: See who made our list of best dressed on the red carpet and vote for your favourite

The week of award shows continued last night with the prestigious Critics’ Choice Awards. On the red carpet, celebrities upped their fashion A-game with embellishment, sequins, and other eye-catching adornments. Classic black gowns were updated with daring cutouts and pattern mixes.
While many of the stars chose designers we’re used to seeing during award season, the love for Brit designers continued with Amanda Seyfried wearing a lace blue dress with a-symmetrical hem by Marios Schwab. Yes.
It-girl Jennifer Lawrence stunned in a black Prabal Gurung dress with leather detailing, showcasing that one 10/10 red carpet look from her is good enough to combat a whole season of mehs. Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway went for a more traditional look, shining in an intricately beaded dress by Oscar de la Renta.

Anne Hathaway is keeping her short haircut but hopefully forgetting the rest of her Les Misérables hair and makeup tricks
There’s just two weeks to go until the big day. Yes, Les Misérables opens in movie theatres on December 25 and to satisfy our fandom till then we’re watching as much promotional footage as we can. Today’s find via Styleite: a behind-the-scenes look at the hair and makeup that was used to transform the actors on screen.
Lisa Westcott, the hair and makeup artist for Les Misérables said, “How can you make a beautiful woman not look beautiful?” when speaking about turning Anne Hathaway into the character of Fantine, a struggling factory worker who is forced into prostitution in 19th century France.
The video offers an interesting insight: while many thought Hathaway was forced to cut her hair, she was actually the one who decided to chop it all off for the role. While she’s said that the shorter style is one she’s grown to love, the rest of her Les Misérables look won’t be sticking around: “A lot of people had to wear wear plastic moulds on top of their teeth that were painted,” Anne Hathaway explained of her character’s missing and decayed teeth. “I was one of the lucky ones. I didn’t have to wear it, I just had to have my teeth painted.”

Miley Cyrus’ pixie cut just keeps getting shorter and shorter
Miley Cyrus is the definition of scissor happy. She first cut off her long flowing locks in favour of a punky pixie cut in August, and now she has revealed an even shorter style.
Last time she cut off her hair, we noted that she resembled Swedish pop-singer Robyn, but now the resemblance is uncanny. Her new haircut is shaved tightly to the sides of her head and a small faux-hawk tuft of hair has been left at the top—like a last, dying gasp of air from Miley’s bun. Her new fixation with punk-inspired haircuts suits her updated wardrobe, which lately has had more of an edgy rocker vibe than former Disney star. (Will Miley Cyrus’ forthcoming album have the same aesthetic and sound?)

The scoop on Anne Hathaway’s Valentino wedding dress (and headband!) Plus, additional Blake Lively bridal details
This summer it felt like the wedding bells kept ringing, and ringing, and ringing and, oh you get the picture. It was a big summer for celebrities like Natalie Portman who tied the knot with French choreographer and Black Swan co-star and Drew Barrymore who married art consultant Will Kopelman. Even our favourite Man Repeller, Leandra Medine, locked it down with longtime on and off boyfriend Abe Cohen.
On the long list of summer celebrity weddings, Blake Lively and Anne Hathaway were some of the most talked about. Mouths were agape when it was revealed Lively didn’t wear Chanel OR Gucci when secretly marrying Ryan Reynolds. She opted to wear a custom made Marchesa gown (not too shabby).

Gabby Douglas’ hair makes headlines again: the gold-medal winner got a $1000 haircut from celeb stylist Ted Gibson
Since Gabby Douglas made Olympic history as the first African-American and the third U.S. gymnast ever to win the all-around gold, her hair has also been making headlines. While we still don’t understand why viewers took to social media to call out the pint-sized 16-year-old for having unkempt hair (her bun looked just as slick as her teammates’ updos!) today the story gets a little better: Douglas got a gold medal-worthy haircut from celebrity stylist Ted Gibson.

No need to pack your bags, but be sure to wish yourself a bon voyage—at least until Monday.

The Devil Wears Prada is getting a sequel. What do you think?
Nearly 10 years after penning her “fictional” book about geek-turned-chic assistant Andrea Sachs and ice-queen editrix Miranda Priestley (who is famously inspired by Anna Wintour, who the author was a personal assistant to), Lauren Weisberger has put pen to paper again to bring the characters back to life.
Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns takes place eight years after Andrea triumphantly left Miranda in Paris. Andrea has teamed up with her nemesis-turned-friend Emily to create The Plunge, their very own magazine, and is engaged to a “social media scion” called Max (poor Nate). Thanks to New York’s small media world, Andrea’s path once again crosses with Miranda’s and, of course, drama ensues.
