Coachella 2014: Festival style season begins with rainbow hair, flower crowns and more!
See the Coachella 2014 style gallery »
From a surprise Beyoncé performance to the announcement of Alexander Wang x H&M, the first instalment of Coachella 2014 was probably the most major on record. Got FOMO? Us too.
And while the stage may have been full of surprises, what we saw on the fields was pretty much in line with what we’ve been seeing since music festival style became a thing: fringe, feathers and flower crowns. This year, the candy coloured hair trend made a nice accent, with our favourite festivalgoer pictured in a shark-print bathing suit and turquoise hair to match. Also spotted was an inside lip Coachella tattoo. Now that’s commitment.

Celebrity style recap: From festival fashion at Coachella to red carpet glamour in NYC, here’s what the stars wore this weekend
See the best celebrity style from this weekend »
Whether you live for the glamour of red carpet galas or are obsessed with how stars dress when they’re off duty and street stylin’ it up, this past weekend has you covered. Things started off with a sartorial bang at the Tiffany & Co. Blue Book gala in New York City. Jessica Biel and Katie Holmes were amongst the notable guests, and both dressed in black and white. But it was Kate Bosworth, in a pink silk Katie Ermilio dress, who stole the style show that night before jet setting to the golden coast to join Emmy Rossum at the Alexander Wang and H&M Coachella party.

Forget your Saturday night: Alexander Wang for H&M was announced at Coachella
However cool you thought your Saturday night was, Alexander Wang probably has you beat. Again. The designer announced his upcoming collaboration with H&M last night, which in and of itself is a big deal. He’s the first-ever American designer to collaborate with the brand. He’s also just a liiiitle busy lately, but hey. Why not make top the major with more major—a throw down dance party at Coachella featuring surprise performances by Iggy Azealea, Major Lazer and Diplo. The designer also used the announcement to launch his Instagram account, which previously stayed update-less for two years. “We were really waiting for the right moment to do something with it and find the right project. We kept it going and it kind of accumulated followers without any posts and we thought, what a great idea for the first post to be this, so we did a really fun video,” the designer told WWD.

Our top 10 music festival style picks: Relive summer 2013 with the best of the season’s non-hobo looks
See our top festival fashion picks »
No fashion challenge is quite as sticky (literally with temperatures at Pitchfork Festival nearing 40 degrees Celsius) as dressing for a music festival. With the weather and the crowds (don’t forget the likelihood of the grass quickly turning to sludge) the list of variables to consider is a long one. From coast to coast, the music festivals of summer 2013 have taken us far and wide. We snapped an array of stylish bohemians at California’s ever-popular Coachella and hip trend-setters at Chicago’s Pitchfork. We documented country’s most fabulous at Bowmanville’s newly established Boots and Hearts festival and young trendsetters and New York’s Governor’s Ball. We’re doing a festival style roundup- taking a look back at the ensembles that had set fashion senses a-tingling.

Topshop has launched a music festival style collection with Kate Bosworth: See all 21 Topshop Festival items now
See all 21 Topshop Festival items here »
Just in time for this summer’s music festival season, Topshop is launching an interactive campaign called Topshop Festival. Inspired by the energy of the ever-growing popularity of British music festivals and its fashion, the campaign includes music, movies and, of course, must-have products. Even better, Topshop turned to Kate Bosworth—a Coachella devotee who’s always embraced the festival fashion trend—to help create some items for the collection. It’s not a collaboration, per say, but more of a Bosworth-approved edit of the Topshop Festival collection.
Working with the Topshop design team, Bosworth created items that extend the actress’s style and work hand in hand with the Topshop brand. The special 21-piece collection consists of signature pieces ranging from neon printed shorts, fur lined vests, gladiator sandals and even feathered wings. And before you click through to our gallery of all the Topshop Festival items—you may have already seen them: Bosworth wore many of the items at this year’s Coachella festival.

Coachella 2013: Capturing the brightest and best fashions during the festival’s second weekend
See the street style photos from Coachella Weekend 2 »
It’s the great Coachella debate: which weekend is better? Because Coachella has two weekends for maximal festival party times, last week, we saw everything we expected from festivalgoers from floral crowns to 90s throwback hairstyles and this weekend, it’s a similar story with different dates.
Toronto-based photographer, Dana Richardson Blewett, worked her way through the festival grounds at Coachella 2013, to capture the scene as people danced to Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs, Major Lazer and Wu-Tang Clan in short-shorts, prints, and crocheted pieces.

Coachella 2013: 20 of the best fashion statements spotted during the festival’s epic first weekend

What would our Instagram feeds be like without Coachella? 2013’s music season is officially underway and its always-awesome burst of festival fashion couldn’t have come at a more welcome time. While the rest of us were begging for anything over 10˚c, we lived vicariously through shots of Man Repeller’s Leandra Medine and Alexa Chung bathing in the Californian sun while they, and the rest of the massive crowd, enjoyed epic sets but some of music’s greats (ahem Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stone Roses, New Order) and one very special video preview of Daft Punk’s much anticipated new album. Ah, the life.

Now that S.S. Coachella exists, we have somewhere to wear Cruise collections! Get the scoop and see our 10 fantasy clothing picks
Check out our resort wear picks! »
Weezer’s Caribbean cruise sounded unreal and all, but the most recently announced concert-cruise blows Weezer’s out of the water (pun intended): Coachella organizers have just announced that they’ll be taking to international waters this December as S.S. Coachella, a 2,800-person capacity vessel packed full of indie favourites like Hot Chip, Girl Talk and Yeasayer. The ocean landscape is a far cry from the festival’s usual arid locale in Indio, California, and we have a feeling the heat exhaustion, up-to-the-knee mud splatters and disgusting port-a-potties won’t be missed too much (though they may be replaced by seasickness for some).

Music festival style snaps: Coachella 2012 part two
Fresh out of the SoCal desert, we bring you the second installment of appropriately stellar Coachella styles. From the raddest grouping of Azealia Banks fans (direct from London!) pictured above, to the countless interpretations on the cutoff jean short that we spotted, here are some of our favourite picks from the festival’s second installment. After two back-to-back weekends in the blistering heat, we’re putting down our festival cams until Bonnaroo hits Tennessee in July. In the meantime, click through for some sweet sunny action on this frigid April day!

What’s in your bag? The Coachella edition
Two FASHION editors will be camping this weekend. In the desert. Shocking, yes. But also, true. Come Friday, ginger-haired photo editor Nicole Stafford and I will be hitting Indio, California for the second weekend of Coachella festivities. Opting for the near death full experience, we’re going for broke (not) in a tent during a weekend that’s promising highs of nearly 40° Celsius. We might die, but before we do, we’re bringing you a special peek into not one, but both of our travel bags. While high SPFs are a no brainer, we’ve also thought about other essentials. You know, like culturally relevant graphic tees and designer sunglasses.

Music festival style snaps: Coachella 2012 part one
Let the fringe-fest begin! This weekend, the stylish (and the not so stylish) flocked to Indio, California for the first in a two-week installment of Coachella 2012. With the likes of Radiohead, Pulp, Azealia Banks and Feist rocking the stage, and celebs like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Kate Bosworth and Diane Kruger boozing on the sidelines, style spotting amidst the madness was on the agenda for Toronto-based Amy Wood who snapped some of the fest’s best dressed for us. Stay tuned for a new installment next week from the second weekend of festivities!
