While it’s easy to slam David Beckham – and anything Becks related- as excessive, Stephano Gabbana (of Dolce & Gabbana) will argue that that excess actually revolutionized men’s fashion. “Here was a soccer player who is straight, with a wife and children, and men were saying: ‘If he wore it, I can wear it too.’ Before that it felt like men’s fashion was just for gay men or strange people – men were afraid to wear something special.” [Vogue UK]

Russian Vogue has devoted their April 2010 issue entirely to newly-minted Russian resident Naomi Campbell. The model was also guest editor. Says editor Aliona Doletskaya: “I wanted to debunk a few myths surrounding Naomi. When I suggested the concept, she immediately came and for an hour and a half laid out stories, photography, interviews and other sections. Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper are the next faces of M.A.C’s Viva Glam. “People think if you’re strong about your sexuality, you must have a d–k,” Gaga told WWD. “And that’s what this is about. Marc Jacobs is suing Christian Audigier’s line Ed Hardy for allegedly knocking off one of his handbags. Jacobs’ legal reps state that any infringement “has been intentional and wil[l]ful, calculated specifically to trade off the goodwill that plaintiffs have developed in their successful Marc Jacobs Pretty Nylon tote bags.” [Vogue UK]
