If you had any doubts that Rihanna is the fashion goddess of our time, look no further than last night’s CFDA Awards, where she went badder than ever in a barely there fishnet dress embellished with over 216,000 Swarovski crystals to accept the award for Fashion Icon of the Year. The outfit was no a doubt a big “eff you” to Instagram, who shut down her account last month after she posted a topless photo of herself on the cover of French fashion mag Lui. It was also a pretty ballin’ Sally Bowles moment, if Sally Bowles was a Never Nude flapper, ready for yet another closeup. “Fashion has always been my defense mechanism,” she said, during her acceptance speech. It’s been that for all of us fashion kids too, which is just one of the millions of reasons we love Rihanna so.

Some may see Rihanna’s CFDA outfit as just another in her near-flawless run of fashion moments, but what’s just one small step for BadGalRiri is one giant leap for fashion kind. This glittering, sugar-coated message to the Instagram establishment is in effect the ultimate slut shaming defence. (Stepping out in a faux fur stole emblazoned with the word “fear” is another brilliant one.)

  • Mulberry launches Tessie, a more affordable (ish), equestrian-inspired line

In the first step toward more affordable accessories, British fashion house, Mulberry has launched a lower priced handbag line inspired by equestrian saddlery.

The Tessie collection features a hobo, clutch, tote and satchel which feature soft leather detailing in either oxblood, poppy, oak or black with belt buckles and straps. Most importantly, the Tessie collection will range between $860 and $1,190, a marked difference from the brand’s typical pricing, which usually begins around $1,300 for the same size.

This new line comes after a rather difficult time for Mulberry, which issued two recent profit warnings and reported falling share prices, on top of its loss of its former CEO, Bruno Guillion. Not to mention, the brand’s notable no-show at February’s London Fashion Week after Emma Hill, the brand’s former creative director left the company.

  • Can you guess how much celebrities make in front row?

How Much Celebrities Make in Front Row

How much would a designer have to pay you to persuade you to sit front row? If you answered “nothing, duh” then you are not Rihanna.

Reports are gaining momentum online that reveal a hefty front row price tag for the A-list. Jessica Chastain is said to have received $80,0000 to attend an Armani Privé show during Milan Fashion Week. Seem a little steep? For $70,000, you’ll get cool girl approval by way of Chloë Sevigny.

According to The Telegraph, getting Beyoncé or Rihanna to park their (fantastic) booties along the runway will cost a cool $100,000 a piece. When you think of how frequently we are seeing these beauties front row the price tag becomes offensively impressive. If you do the math, that means Rihanna made almost a millie at Paris Fashion Week attending shows by Lanvin, Givenchy, Chanel and more.

  • Breaking: Target announces latest designer collaboration with Altuzarra

Well hello, high low! Target has just announced its next designer collaboration, with rising New York label Altuzarra. • The Wizard of Oz is coming to a fashion week near you!

    Wizard of Oz Fashion Week

For all you Wizard of Oz Mega Fans, September 4, 2014 is a date you are going to want to mark in your calendars. The film’s leading ladies will be transformed high-fashion-style for the film’s 75th Anniversary. Inspired by Dorothy, Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West (we know, we can hardly contain ourselves) Warner Bros. Consumer Products and The Wizard of Oz have teamed with US-based Tonner Doll Collection, plus various designers to create one-of-a-kind 22-inch couture dolls. If you’ve ever thought a green, warty witch couldn’t be glamorous, you’d better think again.

The Wizard of Oz has influenced fashion for decades, from Louis Vuitton’s Follow the Yellow Brick Road-esque dress to Christopher Kane’s rainbow dress of Spring ’14 to Kate Spade gingham pants, the list is endless. But never before have we seen something like this- a heap of our favorite designers re-imagining one of the most popular films of all time! The fashion and costume designers modernizing the looks of the celebrated characters include Trina Turk, Donna Karan, BCBG Max Azria, Chris Benz, Jenny Packham, Marc Jacobs, Betsey Johnson, Lyn Paolo, and Anna Sui– and if the sketches are any indication, this doll collection just may be as covetable as Dorothy’s ruby red slippers themselves. Using elements from the movie, such as Dorothy’s gingham pinafore and the infamous (however, essential) tornado, the designers combined some of today’s greatest styles, including a peplum jumpsuit and eclecticism, into the sketches.

Like many others, we’ve fallen for the Kate (Middleton) Effect: the worldwide phenomenon that turned normies into royal stalkers and turned royal stalkers into shopping addicts alike. Having been blessed by a Duchess-worthy stamp of approval, footwear brand Stuart Weitzman has capitalized on said Kate Effect by creating a customizable service for her favourite shoe, the Corkswoon.

Since debuting a pair during the 2012 Olympics, Kate has gone on to wear Stuart Weitzman’s Corkswoon wedges numerous times, from canoe trips to volley ball matches to pit stops in Australia. Now, shoppers can choose from 15 season-complementing colours of suede, including lemon yellow, haze tan, and of course Kate’s royally famous navy. You can also choose between the classic cork or natural braided jute wedge bottom for your very own swoon-worthy pair…pun totally intended. The SWxYOU: Corkswoon program launched yesterday and will only be available for two weeks.

  • Salvatore Ferragamo’s Fiamma bag already has a family of loyal followers

We’re suckers for a father daughter story, especially when that story results in a handbag collection. Italian leather brand Salvatore Ferragamo has added a new model to its covetable list of bags: the Fiamma. Honouring Ferragamo’s late daughter and creator of the first Ferragamo handbag collection, the Fiamma is functional luxury at its best, featuring a renewal of the brand’s iconic silk lining as well as dressings like snakeskin, croc, tweed and Swarovski crystal.

To celebrate the launch of the Fiamma, Ferragamo has created an accompanying video celebrating international families of powerful women. New York artist Jacqueline and daughter Lola Schnabel make an appearance as does Mariel Hemingway and daughter Langley Fox. On the international front, things get royal with Princess Patricia and Princess Mathilde Melusine Ruspoli of Rome. The film celebrates these women and families for their eclectic style, unique talents, immaculate achievements and dedication to family.

In a post-Wikileaks world, everybody’s gotta watch their back…even in fashion. After a series of fuzzy photo leaks, Kristen Stewart’s much-anticipated ad campaign for Chanel has yet again been released before its official launch date later this week. Earlier today, Grazia published the photos in their sepia toned glory. The ads feature the actress in Chanel’s Metiers d’Art Paris-Dallas collection. Fringe, feathers, stars and stripes look pretty bangin’ on the alt A-lister. So good in fact, that all I can think about is a modern remake of Annie Get Your Gun with her in the starring role. Outlaw staples like gun holsters and ID-obstructing bandanas are also pictured, which she describes as “I can’t use the word bad-ass but there is something about it that is fun… fierce.”

Chanel has released a Q&A with Kristen Stewart in regards to the ads, which we’ve dutifully pasted below for your enjoyment. After all, with KStew it’s all or nothing.

There’s also a video, cause heyo!
