Move over, argan! From dilo to moringa, here are 4 of the best new beauty oils for your face and hair
The success of argan has solidified oils’ place in the beauty world. Now, new imports from Africa, Asia and the South Pacific are giving Morocco’s golden elixir some steep competition.
By Wendy Schmid
The beauty industry has a new list of buzzwords: Dilo, moringa, marula, camellia. They don’t exactly trip off the tongue, but each one is a nutritive oil primed to be a hit. And while they may be new to us, to indigenous peoples they’re long-time beauty secrets. Culled from nuts, seeds and flowers and brimming with antioxidants and essential fatty acids (omegas 3, 6 and 9), they are nature’s true anti-agers. When combined with high-tech ingredients, they pack an even bigger punch. Here, a look at the ones you’ll want to be smoothing on your skin and hair this season.

Summer hairstyles: 4 Beauty Panel tips to make your hair look its best in the heat and humidity
While there are many things to look forward to in the fall (new collections, trends, Fashion Week!), we’re making the most of summer while it lasts. That being said, our hair won’t miss all the heat and humidity once the season is over. Humidity makes perfect curls turn to frizz, causes straight hair to curl and makes sleek hair virtually impossible. And don’t even talk to us about the torture that is using a blow dryer in a bathroom without A/C!
But before you decide to chop it all off (although celebrities like Beyoncé are tempting us!), we suggest checking in with the Beauty Panel. This week our beauty blogging experts are sharing the tips and tricks to their go-to summer hairstyles. From taming a voluminous head of hair into a no-mess, no fuss style to keeping your hair healthy all season long, the Beauty Panel is here to help.

Here’s the only piece of beauty news you need to know today, kids: Beyoncé now has a super short pixie cut. She’s joined the ranks of other celebs who made the very on-trend cut this summer! And because only Beyoncé herself announces any and all news about, well, herself, the singer chose to share her new hair via three Instagram snaps late last night.
The cropped style looks great—this is Beyoncé, after all—and the only real disagreement between fans (aka internet commenters) is over whether it’s an actual cut to her real hair or just another one of her stunning wigs.

You’ve printed off your resume, know your strengths and weaknesses and have the perfect job interview outfit planned. But have you considered how to do your hair and makeup? Just like a low cut top is a job interview no-no, glittery makeup or a messy ponytail is best saved for more social situations. When you want to put your best face—and hair!—forward, a neutral look that highlights your natural beauty is best. Don’t distract from your talents with hair and makeup that’s better suited for a night out with friends. To make sure the HR department focuses on your credentials rather than a makeup blunder, we asked the Beauty Panel to share some job interview-worthy beauty looks. Read on, take their advice and all you’ll have to worry about is showing up at the right place at the right time.

How to get wavy hair: Loose, broken waves are on-trend for summer and easy to master with this tutorial
As the weather turns warmer and muggy temperatures make us want to spend as little time playing with blowdryers and heat tools as possible, it’s no surprise that summer is so synonymous with letting your hair do its own thing. Loose curls, natural textures and beach-inspired styles are all popular during summer months—but for those of us with straight hair a little bit of extra effort is required. So before you put away that curling iron, read on. Because if there’s one new summer style technique you’ll want to learn, it’s how to get wavy hair.
Showing us how to get wavy hair is Moroccanoil artistic director Antonio Corral Calero. I met up with Antonio at the Quartz Crystal Spa at Toronto’s Trump International Hotel to talk about summer hair trends and it was his recent work at New York Fashion Week during the Spring 2013 season that inspired this wavy hair look. Without a doubt the biggest style for this summer is the loose, broken wave.

Cannes 2013 red carpet beauty: The scoop on Aishwarya Rai’s hair, Marion Cotillard’s mascara and more
See these Cannes red carpet beauty looks up close »
FASHION’s beauty editor Rani Sheen is currently at the Cannes Film Festival getting the red carpet scoop on all things beauty. Here’s what she witnessed over the weekend.
The inclement weather at the beginning of the world’s glitziest film festival did nothing for the beauty looks on the red carpet—Carey Mulligan bravely battled sheets of rain trying to derail her pale-pink Dior Couture gown and sleek centre-parted hair at the Great Gatsby’s premiere. However, the sun started to shine on Sunday and the stars took full advantage. Aishwarya Rai (commonly referred to as the most beautiful woman in the world) let her long, brown hair flow in natural waves at both the premiere of Blood Ties and the Cohen brother’s latest, Inside Llewyn Davis. But at Sunday’s gala for 100 Years of Bollywood, the Indian film and actual princess tried a style that quite befitting for the occasion.

Side parts, middle parts, no parts: Backstage tricks for achieving the top hair trends for spring
What’s in a hair part? A whole lot, according to the Spring 2013 runways. Celia Ellenberg reports.
To part, or not to part? That was the question that many coiffing stars seemed to be asking themselves this season as deep side parts, centre parts and no parts at all gave equally convincing performances on the spring runways. Why all the deliberate differentiation? “When I choose the part for a designer at a show or on a shoot—whether it’s a side or centre part, clean or messy—I always think about the character we’re conveying, the identity of the brand and every other little detail,” says Redken creative consultant Guido Palau.
