Kate Middleton opts for a low-key Christmas look while spending the day with her family
See all of Kate’s recent appearances and outfits » Christmas time is family time at its best—a sentiment that was especially embraced by the Duchess of Cambridge, who opted to spend her last Christmas before motherhood with her own family at their home in Berkshire alongside Prince William, rather than with the rest of the […]

TIFF 2012: Rachel McAdams and To the Wonder co-star Olga Kurylenko toast their latest film in matching green Elie Saab dresses
See the To the Wonder TIFF party photos »
How could two green Elie Saab dresses wind up side by side on the TIFF red carpet? “It’s a complete coincidence,” Olga Kurylenko assured me at the TIFF after party for To The Wonder hosted by Hugo Boss and GQ and held at a condo development on Richmond St. West in Toronto earlier this week.

Is it just a coincidence that Gwyneth Paltrow and Blake Lively released separate yet very similar perfume ads this week?
Maybe it’s all the Olympic fever in the air, or maybe it’s just all the perfume spritzing that’s made us dizzy, but we’re having a hard time distinguishing between the latest perfume ads for Blonde A (Blake Lively for Gucci Première) and Blonde B (Gwyneth Paltrow for Hugo Buss Nuit).

They said/We said: Hugo Boss funds investigation into its founder’s Nazi association
Galliano debacle aside, we’ve not been reminded of certain “unpleasant” associations in the fashion industry for quite some time. Well, the past has resurfaced again, as news of a new Hugo Boss investigation has made headlines.
The company recently financed a historical study of the period between 1924 and 1945, the times leading up to and during the Second World War to clear the air about Boss’s association with the Nazis. So far we already all knew that Hugo Ferdinand Boss himself was a member of the Nazi party, but after the war he claimed to have joined only to save his business, which was facing bankruptcy in the early ‘30s.
The new study shows that Boss was a loyal member of the Nazis, won the bid to make the infamous brown shirts worn by the party, and was a personal tailor to Hitler. Boss’ factories used forced, mostly-female labour during the war, about 140 kidnapped Poles and French, brought in during a wartime employee shortage. Something nice to say about him (if you can call it nice?) is that he showed some concern for their welfare.
The company has issued an apology on its website but isn’t it pretty irrelevant at this point, over 60 years later? We are unsure as to why Hugo Boss chose now to bring all this info to light. We just hope it didn’t cost too much.

TIFF partysphere: We met Alexander Skarsgård at last night’s GQ and Hugo Boss Melancholia party. We did nothing but nod and smile
If you’ve been reading this site so far at all, you’ll know that we’re big fans of a one vamp Viking, Eric Northman aka. Alexander Skarsgård. Well guess what kids, we met him! In the flesh! The living flesh! Not the dead kind from TV! At last night’s Hugo Boss and GQ party for Melancholia, to be exact. Alongside Kirsten Dunst in her beauty of a ‘40s-inspired, polka-dot blouse and white skirt, the Skars infused the room with so much Swedish hotness, it was almost too much to take. After much giddy giggling, we (Holt Renfrew’s Jennifer Daubney and I) got the courage to let ourselves be introduced. Not like there was a point, since the two of us could barely say anything beyond “Big fans!” Then, naturally, we followed him out to the patio where we stole peeks of his behind. TMI?

Inside last night’s Holt Renfrew fête: The three Coveteurs and many (many) designer duds
Last night, Holt Renfrew fêted Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark, and Jake Rosenberg, the home-grown trio behind voyeuristic style site The Coveteur. Held in the the shoe department of the Bloor Street flagship store, the soiree debuted a new photo exhibit previewing the store’s fall footwear collections, as well as the closets of Canadian taste-makers Dee Dee Taylor Eustace, Gabor Jurina (whose closet was guest-edited by our very own Susie Sheffman), Sylvia Mantella, and Lynda Latner. The three Coveteurs (get it?) looked as chic as the venue, with Kleinberg in a flowing DVF and Céline choker, Mark in Alaïa, and Rosenberg in Hugo Boss. Natch.

Fashion news: Michael Kors sets model age limits, Marc Jacobs doesn’t “find clothes sexy at all,” McQueen’s ashes to be scattered in Scotland
Last night at Harvard, Anna Wintour, Michael Kors and Natalia Vodianova participated in a panel discussion on “Health Matters: Weight and Wellness in the World of Fashion,” where Kors spoke out about the age of models, and announced that he will only hire models 16 years and older, saying, “The age of models really has to become a priority. We need to give these girls a chance to grow up.” Kors also stated that he won’t hire models who show any sign of an eating disorder, because “You shouldn’t support it or encourage it or support it, just say no.” Meanwhile Vodianova admitted to a post-pregnancy eating disorder due to the pressure to get back into modelling almost immediately. [Fashionologie]
“I don’t find clothes sexy at all,” Marc Jacobs told a crowd last night at New York’s Museum at F.I.T. “I find people sexy, and I find personalities fascinating and sexy and appealing and charming. So a sexy girl wrapped in a sheet is a sexy girl, and an un-sexy girl in a low-cut dress is still an un-sexy girl.” Also, he wears briefs, if you wanted to know. [The Cut]

Fashion news: Coco Rocha reveals her line, Jimmy Choo sneakers and a Versace tell-all

Not content with their Uggs collabo, Jimmy Choo has ventured further into comfy footwear with a line of sneakers. The low- and high-tops will be crafted from snakeskin and suede with gold touches. [Stylelist]

Jonathan Rhys Meyers gets elemental for Hugo Boss
I admit that I do not watch The Tudors. (I’m under a lot of pressure to watch The Wire, okay?) However, one thing I do know about star Jonathan Rhys Meyers is that he is very, very attractive. This is a surprise to no one, least of all Hugo Boss who have made him the face of their new men’s fragrance, Hugo Element.
You’ve probably seen the ad floating around, but we have some extra shots from the TV commercial and one from the launch last year at the London Eye. It’s our Valentine’s Day gift to you, dear reader. Enjoy, after the jump.
