Alexander McQueen casts Kate Moss as a futuristic urban warrior in its Spring 2014 ad campaign
See the Alexander McQueen ads starring Kate Moss »
In just her latest chameleon turn, model superstar Kate Moss is a futuristic urban warrior for Alexander McQueen’s Spring 2014 ad campaign images, which debuted online today. Part tribal goddess, part bondage queen, Moss looks totally fierce in a decidedly dystopian and unnatural setting shot on location in East London. Despite being a friend of the late designer, this is Moss’s first appearance in an Alexander McQueen ad, this time shot by long time McQueen collaborator Steven Klein.
In the ads, Moss’s Day-Glo cropped hair is gelled back for maximum impact, making her signature gaze all the more enchanting. Zipper-encrusted collars, pleated leather skirts and full feathered pieces show off the model’s svelte 40-year-old bod, while the gold arm cuffs highlight the vibrancy of her hair. Even the lookalike voodoo doll Moss shares the camera with is outfitted in replica miniature get ups.

Daria Werbowy stars in Balenciaga’s Spring 2014 ad campaign
See more of the campaign images »
Moody, botanical and a little bit Canadian: welcome to Balenciaga for Spring 2014. Toronto supermodel Daria Werbowy fronts the Steven Klein-shot ad campaign and it’s safe to say the images are A+.
Slated to debut in print next month, the campaign’s first image shows Werbowy at peace, leaning against a white wall engulfed in botanical vines. The others showcase the supermodel sporting the brand’s crop-driven Spring 2014 collection pieces. “I wanted to convey a sense of strength and knowingness,” said Balenciaga creative director Alexander Wang. “Daria is definitely not naïve.” With a gaze as powerful as hers, these ads will surely stop onlookers dead in their tracks.

Calvin Klein gives us a six-pack of reasons to be excited for the Superbowl (aside from Beyoncé, that is)
In addition to Beyoncé’s highly anticipated half-time performance, Calvin Klein has given us a six-pack (and not the drinkable kind) of reasons to tune into the big game this weekend. Today the brand announced that a new Calvin Klein men’s underwear advertisement will debut during the Super Bowl, adding to the list of high-profile ads that air during the annual television broadcast. The commercial will launch Calvin Klein’s Spring 2013 advertising campaign.
This year, the campaign stars male model Matthew Terry, a recognizable face for Calvin Klein. The images were shot by renowned American photographer Steven Klein. Through the images, Terry stars as a character in a contemporary “man vs. machine” creative. The advertisements are similar to Calvin Klein’s famed underwear advertisements of the past. Powerful and masculine, it’s easy to see why the classic black and white advertisements still manage to catch everyone’s attention.

Exclusive: We talk with Lady Gaga about Fame, fragrance and why being from New York makes her scent the best (Plus: 16 photos of celebs at the Fame launch party!)
See all the party photos from the Fame launch in New York! »
Masks, tattoos and Mother Monster asleep on a couch. The party for Lady Gaga’s new fragrance, Fame ($59, thebay.com), was indeed unlike any other perfume launch. But hours before she hosted a masquerade ball at New York’s Guggenheim that brought out the A-list (Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang) and the WTF List (Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton), Lady Gaga was wide awake to talk to FASHION about her post-sex rituals (pizza and a movie!), what the colour black means to her and why being a New Yorker makes her pop star perfume better than other celeb scents.
For someone who hasn’t yet smelled Fame, can you describe your fragrance?
“It’s very sexual, it’s very addictive, but it is very chic. The metaphor of the bottle is that when you spray this product, all the good things about fame come out, and all the bad things stay inside. So when you buy this perfume, you can have the lovely smell of it, [while] I’ll be dealing with all the bullshit inside.” -
Lady Gaga’s Fame fragrance goes even darker with two new sinister teaser videos
Lady Gaga continues to entice us with the premiere of two teaser videos for her soon-to-be-released eau de parfum, Fame. In true Lady Gaga form, the results are a sensory feast, shot by fashion photographer Steven Klein. The videos play on the dark nature of Lady Gaga’s black-to-clear fragrance and feature sinister imagery that naturally includes lots of leather and latex.

Lady Gaga continues to make us curious about Fame with a French art house-esque fragrance film
Just when you thought you had all the Lady Gaga news you could handle for the week, the shock-tastic chanteuse is keeping the hype surrounding her forthcoming fragrance Fame going with a just-released mini-film for the scent. The black and white “Formulation” is right on the heels of yesterday’s big unveil for her Steven Meisel-shot ad campaign, which shows a nude Gaga being trodden on by a group of tiny men.

Fashion news: Michael Kors sets model age limits, Marc Jacobs doesn’t “find clothes sexy at all,” McQueen’s ashes to be scattered in Scotland
Last night at Harvard, Anna Wintour, Michael Kors and Natalia Vodianova participated in a panel discussion on “Health Matters: Weight and Wellness in the World of Fashion,” where Kors spoke out about the age of models, and announced that he will only hire models 16 years and older, saying, “The age of models really has to become a priority. We need to give these girls a chance to grow up.” Kors also stated that he won’t hire models who show any sign of an eating disorder, because “You shouldn’t support it or encourage it or support it, just say no.” Meanwhile Vodianova admitted to a post-pregnancy eating disorder due to the pressure to get back into modelling almost immediately. “I don’t find clothes sexy at all,” Marc Jacobs told a crowd last night at New York’s Museum at F.I.T. “I find people sexy, and I find personalities fascinating and sexy and appealing and charming. So a sexy girl wrapped in a sheet is a sexy girl, and an un-sexy girl in a low-cut dress is still an un-sexy girl.” Also, he wears briefs, if you wanted to know. [The Cut]
