Ones to watch: Tze Goh moulds a simple statement
Though temporarily overshadowed by Spring’s ode to the thrills and frills of the decadent ’70s, have no fear: Minimalism is still being championed by the likes of Phoebe Philo at Céline, Raf Simons at Jil Sander, as well as a number of young designers such as Central Saint Martins grad Tze Goh. Born in Singapore, he moved to New York to study at Parsons New School for Design and eventually relocated to London, where he is currently based.

Fall 2011: Best in show
After a long and exhausting month of shows (it’s a hard life… we know), we’ve finally had a few minutes to digest the thrills and frills that we saw on the runways in New York, London, Milan and Paris. So, here they are. Our top ten hits, in no particular order. (Ordering them would be like choosing favourite children, and we simply CANNOT go that far… )

MFW diary: Sports in the Swiss Alps at Sportmax, Jil Sander and Emilio Pucci
It was nice to catch up with Deena Weinberg, owner of Toronto’s Max Mara shop at the Sportmax show. It’s a little out of context for the two of us, we’re more often caught sweating on our bikes at Sunday morning spin class than at a fashion show! The collection was big on coats with swingy tweed toppers, parkas and a particularly strong rusty patent leather floor length trench. Texture was the name of the game with sheer appliqued embroidered floral prints, chunky rib knits, sequins and this season’s obligatory coloured fur.

Spring 2011 preview: What we loved at Milan Fashion Week
EVERYONE WAS TALKING ABOUT…
Optimistic bright, blasting colour; Miuccia’s “minimal baroque” collection for Prada; the fact that Milan is back on top; and, of course, where to go for dinner! -
Celeb poll: Kate Bosworth is so mint in Jil Sander. Do you like her look?
Kate Bosworth attended the 2010 Hollywood Style Awards yesterday where she presented her stylist Cher Coulter with the Stylist of the Year Award. The 29-year-old actress wore a look right off of the Jil Sander 2011 spring runway–a white T-shirt paired with a mint green maxi skirt. She topped of her outfit with a slick bun and fuchsia lipstick. What do you think of Bosworth’s minty fresh look? Vote after the jump.

Dispatch from Milan: Jil Sander and Max Mara go pop!
POP goes Milan! Shock waves of jolting colour have electrified Milan Fashion Week!
The Jil Sander show on Saturday was an explosion of color and volume and is sure to go down as one of the most important shows of the season. Starting with simple white tees paired with flourescent maxi skirts, the mind-blowing DayGlo combos just kept on coming! Couture silhouettes from the ’50s and ’60s mixed with tailoring and sport-utility touches. Love the fluorescent soles on neutral pumps, the stripes and flouro-florals, and bright nylon shopping bags. Simple, saturated and strong!

Jil Sander will live-stream tomorrow’s Men’s SS 11 show on the brand’s website. Tune in tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. EST. [Fashionista]
Happy (belated) birthday to poor Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz, who describes his lavish celebration as such: “I was at the Air France lounge waiting to get on the flight to New York, and the airline attendant presented me with a muffin. I think we both felt embarrassed.” [Racked]

Fashion news: Haider Ackermann goes man, Jil Sander relaxes and Gaga wants to make hats
Jil Sander is showing a spontaneous side with the launch of the Milan-based brand’s diffusion line Jil Sander Navy. Expect new bold colours and a laid back aesthetic – they’ve gone as far as introducing prints. It’s almost as if Jil Sander is cheating on minimalism. [WWD]
Prints of a nude 19-year-old Kate Moss crouching in the sand will be auctioned by Christie’s, and are estimated to fetch USD$ 45,000. [The Cut]

Jil Sander–the label–is creating a lower-priced line, Jil Sander Navy. It’s set to hit stores in January 2011 and there will be prints. [WWD]
Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman and husband Harvey Weinstein revealed that she is five months pregnant. We cannot wait to see the baby clothes that come out of this. [The Cut]
And the baby boom doesn’t end there: Designer, and mom of Daisy, Pearl Lowe has announced that she is pregnant with her fifth child. [Vogue UK]
Spotted: Anna Wintour sitting front row at the Green Day musical, American Idiot. We never would have called that one. [Daily Front Row]
