LFW Diary: Lana Del Rey and Downton Abbey’s ladies at Mulberry, true love at Jonathan Sauders, and a whole half hour with Tom Ford
View the many (and we mean many) Mulberry celeb attendees »
Where to begin. With the celebs? Lana Del Rey (carrying the namesake Del Rey bag from the ever-growing fashion house), Michelle Williams, the surprisingly petite Elizabeth Olsen, Leigh Lezark, and Ladies Mary and Edith Crawey—I mean Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael—all sat front row at Mulberry; and then there were the models (Jacquetta Wheeler, Irina Lazareanu) and It girls Poppy Delevigne and model/It girl/socialite Caroline Sieber at Matthew Williamson.

Party Pics: Derek Blasberg and Leigh Lezark go west for the Vancouver launch of Very Classy
Last Thursday, Vancouver’s classiest held court at The Room for a champagne toast to New York–based writer Derek Blasberg’s latest tome, Very Classy. The boy about town(s) touched down along with gal pal/DJ/model/Chanel ambassador Leigh Lezark (in Chanel, of course) for his first visit to the city—and just in time: it was the first sunny day the west coast had seen in a long time! (Score one for Van weather staying classy long enough to impress.)
After a January hibernation, guests, including our February issue It Girl Manjy Sidoo, seemed eager to dress up, and a long queue formed to shake hands, pose for Instagrams, and book sign. With his signature charm and newly slicked-back hair, the Blas was as Truman Capote 2.0 as ever (but with a nicer disposition… and better clothes).

Inside Thursday night’s Moon party: Leigh Lezark spinning Rihanna amidst big yellowy globes and yellowy cocktails
Last Thursday night the Mimran-kissed womenswear line Moon celebrated its first birthday as well as its foray into menswear at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in Toronto. Surrounded by big yellowy globes (ahem, moons) and more than a few yellowy cocktails, DJ duo Leigh Lezark and Geordon Nicol of the Misshapes spun Rihanna, Robyn, and the like for the crowd of fashion eds, fashion plates, and fashion models who interrupted the soiree for a makeshift showcase of the latest collection. Lezark took her headphones on and off enough times to make believe she was, indeed, there to spin… But her sheer black wrap shirt, leopard skirt (both from Moon’s fall collection), and black leather fold-over heels suggested she was there to be ogled as well. Consider us ogling.

They said/We said: Leigh Lezark is the next H&M collaborator, or should we say curator
H&M has announced it will join forces with downtown mistress Leigh Lezark for the launch of an upcoming shop-in-shop inside London department store Selfridges. Instead of commissioning the Misshapes DJ/model to design a collection, though, the Swedish retailer has asked her to curate the collections inside their new location. If you’re wondering what exactly “curating” entails in this case, don’t feel lonely, because so are we. From what we can gather, Lezark will be selecting some of her favourite pieces from the collection as well as of course making a personal appearance when the shop opens its doors next Thursday.
The concept behind the shop-in-shop is to offer customers exclusive and limited-edition items with noteworthy curators stopping by regularly. It seems a little bit out of character for H&M, a company usually committed to bringing affordable goods to the masses on a global scale, to rent out space in a high-end department store and stock it with pieces of limited availability.
Still, the opening comes at a significant moment in British fashion. It seems that everyone’s eyes have been on London this year because of style icons such as the two Kates (Moss and Middleton) and Alexander McQueen. An American analytics group has just named the city this year’s number-one fashion capital based on web activity. If you also take into account the increasing number of promising young designers that it keeps on turning out, it’s easy to see why H&M would choose London as the setting for a more exclusive project.

Video: See the full Chanel Spring 2011 runway show
Even if you’ve seen pictures of the clothes, this video of the Chanel Spring 2011 show is worth watching because it captures the size of the spectacle–the movement of the clothes and the models weaving around a manicured garden inside the Grand Palais. There are also post-show interviews with Claudia Schiffer, Leigh Lezark and Inès […]

The release of Mattel’s So in Style collection of black dolls, the first ever with wider noses, fuller lips and in a variety of skin shades, has been met with disappointment. Parents are saying the prevalence of green and blue eyes as well as long, fine hair is not representative of the race. Mattel is listening though, and is working on the fall 2010 collection, adding a doll with more of an Afro hairstyle. [WSJ]

Mango celebrates the second edition of El Botón
Knowing not a word of Spanish, I assumed the gilded words “El Hangar” on the Mango gala invite meant the whole glittering shindig would go down in a Barcelona airport hangar.
Not quite: the location of the Oscar party (that would be the jury chairman and too-charming host of this year’s El Botón-Mango Fashion Awards, Oscar de la Renta, not the little gold man) was in Mango’s BCN headquarters. To fete the second incarnation of the awards, the warehouse was transformed into an amber-lit hive of fast-fashion festivity, all champers and ciggies and swift kisses on both cheeks. The international jet set was in full force, so in that respect it was a sort of hangar, after all (and never mind all the overbronzed hangers-on).

Lovelies in Paris: Petal Leigh
The MisShapes’ Leigh Lezark is more Flowers in the Attic than spring garden, but we can’t fault her–the collections are beautifully bleak.
