Makeup trend alert: It’s all about painting your foreheads gold for Fall 2014
Spring’s molten-gold eye makeup trend is moving in a different direction for Fall 2014—like, literally moving across your face. It started in London at Simone Rocha, with M.A.C makeup artist Sam Bryant applying gold leaf to models’ foreheads. The look was intended to be haphazard, with some models getting “gold sweat beads” and others having more of a “full-on effect.” Should you want to try this look at home, proceed carefully: “Bryant said the leaf is so delicate that no one can breathe on it, and if the girl’s skin is too hot it won’t stay,” reported WWD.
A more DIY-friendly approach to the forehead-anointing trend was spotted this weekend in Milan. Ten models at the Emilio Pucci Fall 2014 show were given a splash of gold above their brows and down the bridge of their noses.

Street Style, London: 54 fun shots from outside Fashion Week’s jampacked weekend of Fall 2014 shows

After the tundra-like conditions of New York Fashion Week, the fair weather in London seemed practically tropical for fashion editors and bloggers alike. Shedding their heavy fur and parkas, the outfits at the Fall 2014 shows were playful and outerwear was shot with bright colour and done in shorter lengths.
Euro street style star Yasmin Sewell was the hit of the weekend, proving when in doubt, add more colour. She was first seen in a colour blocked black and orange duster with silver pumps and a blue turtleneck and then later in a gorgeous yellow silk skirt, burgundy platform sandals and a fuzzy blue pullover. Harley Viera Newton meanwhile toughened up a cutesy pink rose patterned dress, with a matching bomber and black accessories. That recognizable pop-art jacket from Prada’s Spring 2014 collection, sported by many at NYFW, including Giovanna Battaglia, made the the jump across the pond as well as numbers from previous collections, including Spring 2012’s coveted car print clutch.

See all our fashion month coverage »With the end of fashion week in Toronto marking the close of Spring 2014 show season, it’s time we looked back at all the trends that emerged. As much as the runway sets the pace for what’s to come for the top Spring 2014 trends, the streets play a major role as show-going trendsetters give us the relatable breakdown of how to wear what’s hot next season. At Hérmes, Rousseau-inspired water lily florals were printed on luxurious fabrics while at Diane Von Furstenberg, dresses and skirts depicting an African wilderness roared. As for fashionable time travel, prepare to keep reminiscing about the youthful 1990s, which haven’t ceased to get reincarnated season after season. Olivia Palermo versus Blake Lively: Who wore monochromatic leather best in the front row?
When it’s Fashion Month, there’s no time to waste! The last day of London Fashion Week has quickly turned into the first day of the Spring 2014 shows in Milan. As such, we’re sharing stand-out a front row look from each city: IRL socialite Olivia Palermo and our favourite faux Upper East Side girl Blake Lively both channeled a glossy, monochromatic leather look when attending shows in London and Milan.
From London, Olivia Palermo was perfectly poised at the Anya Hindmarch show in a soft, dusty-rose ensemble. She wore a light white sweater, dusty-rose leather pants and a tonal matched blazer. Choosing the casual route, Palermo completed her on-trend pink look with a pair of animal-print flats and a grey Anya Hindmarch handbag that featured a statement-making yellow lining. A neutral pink lip, slight cat-eye and emphasized lashes went well with her ladylike-hued outfit.
Over in Milan, the Gucci show kicked off fashion week and Blake Lively added some A-list power to the front row. The actress was a vision in a marigold Gucci leather dress and matching belt. The leather halter dress was left to shine when paired with Gucci bronze heels and a neutral clutch. As for her makeup, Lively went for a sophisticated red lip while her honey-blonde hair was side parted and left loose, somewhat of a signature style for the Gossip Girl star.
While we envy Lively, who shared a few front row laughs with Anna Wintour, and give props to Palermo for finishing off London Fashion Week in stylish form we still have to ask, who had the best leather look?

Street Style, London: 60 shots of Carine Roitfeld, Poppy Delevingne and more on the last day of the Spring 2014 shows

The sun may have been beaming down on the street style scene during London Fashion Week, but the temperamental weather didn’t fool fashion show attendees. Wrapping themselves up in the chicest of layers, street style stars outside the Spring 2014 shows continued to rock the fall coat trend from plaid to print to bold eye-catching colours. Even Mademoiselle C aka Carine Roitfeld, who was in town to launch the premiere of her documentary, was the epitome of Parisian chic as she strutted down the streets in an anything but ordinary charcoal-grey coat.
Though it looked chilly, many fashion week regulars were not afraid to bare their legs in dresses and skirts of various lengths. Boldest of them all (with a jacket in hand, just in case) was Miroslava Duma who bravely faced the wind in a crop top and a tartan midi skirt.

Yesterday, Burberry Prorsum debuted its Spring 2014 collection to a full house at London Fashion Week. Two Brit It girls wearing the label were among the star studded front row eager to get the first peek of next season’s pieces. Indie-glam actress Sienna Miller and model-DJ Alexa Chung rubbed shoulders with other big name Londoners, including One Direction’s Harry Styles, Bond Girl Naomie Harris and the vibrant singer Paloma Faith, all while viewing the pastel-heavy collection that ended with a finale of raining petals.
