Sexy, strong and considerably pricey, Altuzarra […]

Florals for all: Sarah Stevenson’s Target collection revealed!
See the complete Sarah Stevenson for Target collection »
Move over Peter Pilotto, there’s a new Target collabo in town. Almost a year after designer Sarah Stevenson nabbed top honours at Toronto Fashion Incubator’s annual New Labels competition; images of her upcoming collection for Target Canada have been released! Launched last night at a fashion show in Toronto, the 15-piece collection rings true to the designer’s signatures, but re-imagined for the budget conscious at only $25-$60 a pop. The 15-piece collection features laser cut, layered and multi-hued floral prints on dresses, trousers, blouses and a statement blazer.
“I really had the Target guest in mind and I worked really loosely with the Target design team to really understand who that guest is and what they’re looking for,” Stevenson said. “I still wanted it to have my aesthetic and all the elements that are signature to my high-end line but making it wearable for the urban Canadian woman. I thought a lot about transitional pieces, that can be taken from winter into spring.” Given how hot florals continue to be on both spring and fall runways, it’s pretty safe to say these pieces will be wardrobe essentials for seasons to come.

5 minutes with Erin Wasson: Maybelline’s It girl chats about beauty essentials and filming TV shows with Pharrell
For Target’s holiday runway show at World MasterCard Fashion Week, the mega retailer pulled out all the stops—including a supermodel surprise. Perennial style icon Erin Wasson opened and closed the show, making it one of the week’s top tweetable moments. Between modeling gigs, relaunching her jewellery line, Low Luv, and mentoring wannabe fashion designers on the new reality TV show Styled To Rock (fellow judges include Rihanna, Pharrell and stylist Mel Ottenberg), Wasson has long reigned as a Maybelline New York It girl, serving for more than a decade as one of the beauty brand’s top faces. To find out how this multitasking muse does it all, we sat down with Wasson before she hit the Target runway.
How do you feel about being called Alexander Wang’s muse?
“It’s an honour. But I think the word “muse” is very relative. I don’t really know if people actually know what a muse is anymore. Who I am as a person and what I represent is very close to that girl that Alex is designing for—you know, the girl that isn’t afraid to be the least dressed up at a fancy cocktail party. So if I represent that for him, then dope!”

We’ve been dreaming of spring fashion all week but at last night’s highly-anticipated Target show, the mega retailer rolled out the white carpet, turned up the Christmas tunes and let it snow (literally) in the tents. The cheery Holiday 2013 runway presentation had even the most melancholy fashion minimalists grinning. And how could it not, with beaming models who ran the gamut from city girls and dimpled jocks to stylish parents and impossibly cute kids? Target certainly brought the charm and cheer of its holiday catalogue to life for Toronto’s style set.
The show started with a fashionably festive surprise as model, Maybelline New York spokesperson and overall cool girl Erin Wasson, who opened the runway in a pair of slouchy tuxedo track pants, a plaid blazer and black fedora.

Target’s next designer collab has been announced: Peter Pilotto is coming (and it’ll be online, too!)
Hot on the heels of 3.1 Phillip Lim’s collection for Target (battle scars from yesterday, anyone?) Peter Pilotto has just been announced as the next designer collaboration for the superstore. The partnership was made public earlier today at the Peter Pilotto Spring 2014 runway show in London. Given how brilliant that collection was, we cannot wait to see what digital prints and bold colours will be coming to Target in February.
According to an interview with British Vogue, Pilotto’s decision to work with Target was motivated by the retailer’s mass popularity: “By working with Target, we’re able to broaden our reach and bring our design aesthetic to an entirely new audience.” Co-creative director Christophe De Vos continued, “Our collection for Target embodies the elegance and spirit of our own line, but makes it accessible to everyone.”
