As Choupette Lagerfeld celebrates a milestone first birthday, we take a look back at what she’s been up to lately
It’s hard to believe Choupette Lagerfeld has only been gracing us with her “great beauty” for a mere year now. From her almost 16,000 follower count on Twitter to her multiple appearances in between glossy covers, the adorable furball has undoubtedly achieved more in a year than any other feline (and some humans) do in their lives.
She celebrated the milestone with dad Karl Lagerfeld yesterday, who tweeted a pic of the kitten with a cat-style cake (i.e. five shrimp arranged in a cartwheel configuration). So what exactly has the fashion world’s most illustrious kitty squeezed into her first year of life?

As we reported back in early June, Mercedes-Benz and IMG have introduced Start Up, their internationally lauded joint competition and mentorship program for up-and-coming designers to Canada. Well, here we go!

Mercedes-Benz and IMG announce the launch of Mercedes-Benz Start Up. We break it down
Last night, industry folks were treated to an old fashioned game of suspense. Ushered into a location much further east than most knew existed⎯the sleek Mercedes-Benz dealership that straddles the DVP⎯we gathered to hear an announcement about an upcoming project. Most guessed that it would be fashion week related… a new sponsorship deal? A new location, perhaps? What was announced instead, was something so much more exciting: the launch of Mercedes-Benz Start Up. Produced alongside IMG, LG Fashion Week Beauty by L’Oréal Paris and the FDCC, Start Up is a new initiative to help foster new and upcoming designers on a national scale. Promising to nurture young businesses rather than a simply a competition based on creativity, Start Up is as its title suggests… a magnified launch pad for Canadian talent.
So, how exactly will it work? We break Start Up down:

Fashion news: Oscar de la Renta calls couture “irrelevant,” the Kaiser collects an award and Victoria Beckham to design for Beyoncé
Oscar de la Renta claims that the days of women sporting couture are done, saying, “Couture has become completely irrelevant. Customers are smart. They know that a $10,000 wedding dress will look as beautiful as a $1 million wedding dress. Maybe it will not be finished the same way inside, but who will know?” Touché. [The Cut]
The entire cast and crew of SATC 2 are tight-lipped when it comes to the plot of the film; but after allegedly signing a confidentiality agreement which could cost them up to about $2.5 million if they slip any details, who wouldn’t be?! Kim Cattrall had a close call after being photographed holding the script with a few of the words visible, saying after, “I thought: “You have got to be kidding! This isn’t state secrets, it’s the f****** script for a movie!” It’s crazy. You really have to be careful because I’ve signed my life away to say I won’t tell. It gets to the point where you’re terrified to carry your script around in case someone catches a glimpse of it.” [Vogue UK]
