As Choupette Lagerfeld celebrates a milestone first birthday, we take a look back at what she’s been up to lately
It’s hard to believe Choupette Lagerfeld has only been gracing us with her “great beauty” for a mere year now. From her almost 16,000 follower count on Twitter to her multiple appearances in between glossy covers, the adorable furball has undoubtedly achieved more in a year than any other feline (and some humans) do in their lives.
She celebrated the milestone with dad Karl Lagerfeld yesterday, who tweeted a pic of the kitten with a cat-style cake (i.e. five shrimp arranged in a cartwheel configuration). So what exactly has the fashion world’s most illustrious kitty squeezed into her first year of life?

They said/ We said: Jennifer Lopez covers the latest issue of V, package in hand
Jennifer Lopez’ cover on V magazine has everyone buzzing, and not because of her contentious Oscar nip-slip (did it or didn’t it?). Rather, it’s the singer from the block’s get-up that has piqued people’s interest or more specifically, her generously padded jockstrap.
The androgynous cover—photographed and styled by tag team Mario Testino and Carine Roitfeld, respectively—has J.Lo looking one part Million Dollar Baby and one part Balenciaga Pre-Fall 2012.
Frankly, we’re not surprised. Though the aesthetic may be lacking the Parisian elegance Roitfeld is known for, she’s never been one to pass up some good controversy (remember this?). Natch, a bulging jockstrap would just be too much for her to turn down.
The cover comes after a recent push from the fashion industry towards gender-bending (think: Lea T, Andrej Pejic, Kate Moss). And with exciting covers like this coming out we hope the push continues for a long time.

They said/We said: Starlets to harlots! Karl Lagerfeld shoots the look book for a former escort’s lingerie collection
From starlets to harlots! Karl Lagerfeld’s latest project with alleged former French escort Zahia Dehar is likely to cause quite a stir. Lagerfeld has taken it upon himself to shoot a look book for the upcoming lingerie line of the scandal-ridden “designer.”
For those unfamiliar with Dehar, designing lingerie is not her only love—she also seems to have a thing for French football players. She was the source of much uproar in Europe back in 2010, when it was discovered that she was involved with three prominent footie players for the nonchalant rate of £2,000 per night. (Oh, and she was also underage at the time.) Sacrebleu!

A woman of substance: Our exclusive Q&A with Carine Roitfeld
Carine Roitfeld, the world’s most inimitably chic fashion editor, is back. She tells Rani Sheen what’s next for her.
When it was announced in December that Carine Roitfeld had stepped down as editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue, the fashion world erupted in speculation about what she’d do next. The answer, in part, lies in the book Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent ($110, Rizzoli New York), a mid-career retrospective of her most arresting shoots, notes from designers, and personal mementos. It’s a satisfying read because there is such a fascination with Roitfeld, the coolest woman in any front row. We asked her what else she’s been up to.

They said/We said: The scoop on Carine Roitfeld’s upcoming 72-page ode to Elizabeth Taylor
Though it’s only been seven months since the all-powerful Carine Roitfeld left her post as the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, we feel like we’ve been suffering from Roitfeld withdrawal for ages. On the upside, it looks like we’re going to get our fix in the near future. News officially broke that Roitfeld will be styling an Elizabeth Taylor–themed spread for V Magazine’s September Heroes Issue.
Between her freelance projects for Chanel, Barneys and W magazine, Roitfeld will be working with Mario Testino on the Taylor project. The feature, which is better described as a “fashion extravaganza,” will be a whopping 72 pages. Looks like she’s planning to make up for lost time.
The spread is sure to be a great precursor to Christie’s public exhibition of the Collection of Elizabeth Taylor in December. We can’t help but wonder if Roitfeld will manage to get her hands on some of Taylor’s prized possessions before they are put on display. What we do know is that, either way, these 72 pages are going to be Giant.

Fashion news: Lohan accused of ripping off designers, the Obamas are unwitting models and Karl shoots for V’s size issue
Some of the items in Lindsay Lohan’s 6126 clothing line look rather familiar to a couple of designers. Black Milk Clothing’s James Lillis and designer Jen Kao both say Lohan copied their designs. The company disputes this, naturally. [WWD]
But wait! It is apparently LiLo who’s had her designs lifted. [Stylecaster]
A NY Times report surfaced yesterday that H&M in New York’s Herald Square had been mutilating and dumping unsold clothing. H&M responded, saying “We are committed 100 percent to make sure this practice is not happening anywhere else, as it is not our standard practice.” It’s worth noting that H&M is listed as a donor to Windfall, a Canadian new clothing bank.
