There Was a ’90s Supermodel Reunion at the Michael Kors Show
There was really only way to mark the occasion of Michael Kors’s 40th anniversary: By getting together some of the original supermodels of the 1990s, of course. The beloved American designer recruited Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen, Shalom Harlow and Carolyn Murphy to walk the runway — in eye-catching shimmery gowns — for his Fall/Winter 2021 […]

Michael Kors and his high-powered pals support World Hunger Day with a fundraiser, bilboard takeover and more
See the God’s Love we Deliver event photos »
Last week, designer Michael Kors used his influence to fight the global hunger crisis on official World Hunger Day (October 16). Together with the World Food Programme, the day began with a cleverly orchestrated digital takeover of the billboards at Times Square, which streamed content that raised awareness of his Watch Hunger Stop campaign. The initiative encouraged the world to participate by spreading the word through social media, donating to the cause and purchasing a Kors-designed watch whose sale would fund 100 meals through the World Food Programme.
The designer has also been a huge advocate for God’s Love We Deliver; an organization that prepares tailored meals for people with severe illnesses in the city he calls home. Last year, a $5 million donation he made helped in the renovation of the organization’s facility, which in recognition was re-named to “The Michael Kors Building.” God’s Love We Deliver held its annual Golden Heart Awards to cap off World Food Day with stars from film, fashion, and political circles coming together to celebrate notable community contributions.

Inside the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M launch party in New York: Kanye West, Sarah Jessica Parker and interpretive dancers take over a 9-storey dilapidated building

See the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection photos»Leave it to Maison Martin Margiela to choose a dilapidated 9-storey building hidden within New York’s financial district to house the launch event for its upcoming collaboration with H&M. To say “event” is to put it simply—performance art installation/dance party/pop-up shop would explain last night a little better. Each floor of 5 Beekman Street was reimagined as some sort of exhibit, with dancers choreographed by Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker making art pieces from the aftermath of dancing around on a floor covered in white sand. Elsewhere, installations by Daniel Arsham, Frederique Chauveaux and Noemie Goudal brought the Margiela collaboration pieces to life, by projecting tableaus and hand gestures right on the pieces themselves. Atop the building, a pop-up shop stocked with the Maison Martin Margiela for H&M collection was swarmed by the 1,500 guests trying to snag a purchase in advance of the re-edition collection launching in stores on November 15.

A woman of substance: Our exclusive Q&A with Carine Roitfeld
Carine Roitfeld, the world’s most inimitably chic fashion editor, is back. She tells Rani Sheen what’s next for her.
When it was announced in December that Carine Roitfeld had stepped down as editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue, the fashion world erupted in speculation about what she’d do next. The answer, in part, lies in the book Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent ($110, Rizzoli New York), a mid-career retrospective of her most arresting shoots, notes from designers, and personal mementos. It’s a satisfying read because there is such a fascination with Roitfeld, the coolest woman in any front row. We asked her what else she’s been up to.

Fashion news: Balmain hair extensions, Ungaro up for sale and Lady Gaga to design sunglasses?
We read something today that we still haven’t fully absorbed: You can get Balmain hair extensions. We assume these aren’t Christophe Decarnin-designed, but instead one of the company’s many licenses. (Check out this DIY Balmain jeans from Auntie Fashion, created using a $5 Balmain men’s dress shirt from Sears.) You can buy clip-in purple or red fringe and extensions in “Level 10” blonde. Emanuel Ungaro keeps taking hit after hit. After the LiLo debacle and closing down it’s massive Madison Avenue boutique (which rumour has it will be taken over by Michael Kors), the brand is now apparently on the hunt for a buyer to take over its debt and tainted rep. Any takers? [NYP]
