The Hills Style Moments We’ll Never Forget (the Good, the Bad and the Really Bad)
We laughed with them, we cried with them, and whether or not you’d like to admit it, we definitely took fashion cues from them. Back in 2004, MTV’s Laguna Beach provided the world with an unprecedented look into on the lives of SoCal’s young and privileged teens (a.k.a. Lauren Conrad and friends). Roughly two years later, The Hills premiered, chronicling Lauren’s life […]

So imagine our joy and surprise upon the announcement that Lauren Conrad will be reprising her role as herself and returning to MTV for a Hills reunion event. (Pause and gasp […]

Street Style, London Fashion Week: 29 shots from this weekend’s shows
After a week of looking at snowy, fur-filled street style shots from New York, what a breath of fresh air it is to see bits of spring popping up outside London Fashion Week. Now, whether or not the lighter clothes are warranted (last time I checked, it was only 6 degrees across the pond) is […]

Au naturel beauty: 10 celebs who remind us why we love the no-makeup look
See which celebs master the natural makeup look » While we all love a good statement lip, we can’t help but always make our way back to the ‘no-makeup’ makeup trend. We know fall is a great time to experiment with darker hair shades, darker lips, darker eyes, darker whatever (souls?), but it’s also a great time […]

Rules were meant to be broken: These celebs are teaching us how to be fashion rebels!
Old-school fashion rules are generally to our benefit. In a world of muffin tops and visible panty lines, they give us some Emily Post–like structure on how to flatter our bodies and look put together in the currently “anything goes” state of sartorial modernism. That being said there are some rules that just aren’t relevant anymore, limiting your wardrobe instead of making the most of it. Here, we learn from Hollywood’s finest that rules really are made to be broken.

Fashion news: A fashionable law school, Tamara Mellon’s Choo move and Brian Bailey does cosmetics
Elle Woods comes alive: the Fordham Law School is creating the Fashion Law Institute for law students interested in fashion, design students and designers, the first law school to treat fashion as it’s own field of study. [WWD]
Tamara Mellon is switching roles at Jimmy Choo from founder and president to founder and chief creative officer. Vogue UK writes that “[I]n this new position Mellon will continue to oversee the label’s brand image, including product design, public relations and advertising campaigns. Sandra Choi will continue in her role as creative director with responsibility for product design.” If Mellon and Choi are both continuing to do what they already did, what exactly is this “new role” for Mellon? Burberry is launching a 30-piece April Showers collection this month to keep customers shopping until the first fall 2010 deliveries hit stores in June, and providing items that are apropos to April: trench coats, rain boots and umbrellas. [Coutorture]
If Fashion’s Night Out had a slogan, it would be bigger is better, because that’s where the organizers’ heads are at. The event will supposedly be the biggest fashion show ever put on in New York, with 200 models walking, with 1,500 seats for oglers. [Fashionista]
Nail polish specialist Essie has been bought by L’Oréal USA, who has plans to expand the brand into cosmetics and eventually bring it to the mass market. [WWD]

Fashion news: Balmain hair extensions, Ungaro up for sale and Lady Gaga to design sunglasses?
We read something today that we still haven’t fully absorbed: You can get Balmain hair extensions. We assume these aren’t Christophe Decarnin-designed, but instead one of the company’s many licenses. (Check out this DIY Balmain jeans from Auntie Fashion, created using a $5 Balmain men’s dress shirt from Sears.) You can buy clip-in purple or red fringe and extensions in “Level 10” blonde. Emanuel Ungaro keeps taking hit after hit. After the LiLo debacle and closing down it’s massive Madison Avenue boutique (which rumour has it will be taken over by Michael Kors), the brand is now apparently on the hunt for a buyer to take over its debt and tainted rep. Any takers? [NYP]

NYFW reads: Fashion Angel, Hamish sings and more
Vena Cava and BCBG showed yesterday during opening day at New York Fashion Week, but the designer that captured everyone’s attention (despite a 9 a.m. timeslot) was Michael Angel and his wild, angular prints. More pics at the link. [StyleBubble]
Vena Cava was apparently no slouch either, setting the collection of smart dresses against the backdrop of a Fiery Furnaces performance. [Fashionista]
