Fashion news: John Galliano nixes Gaga songs from after party; Canada to get Target in a few years
Looks like we only have to wait three or four more year for a Target: Executives at the company are “exploring opportunities in Canada” and are looking to open 200 stores North of the border starting with six to 10 stores in late 2014 0r 2015. [National Post]
John Galliano doesn’t seem to be a big Lady Gaga fan. The Dior designer waved off the DJ each time he tried to play a Gaga song at the informal after party for his Spring 2011 show. [The Cut]

Fashion news: Anna Dello Russo walks at Ungaro, Stella McCartney for Target Australia, and Serena Williams to create nail polish
Stella McCartney just launched her second capsule collection for Target Australia. We’d suggest you book a plane ticket, but then you may as well buy the ready-to-wear. [Frockwriter, via Racked]
See what we said about stunt casting? Street style blogger favourite Anna Dello Russo modeled for Giles Deacon’s first show for Emanuel Ungaro. [Twitter]

Simon Doonan’s Halloween costumes for Target inspired by Jersey Shore, pasta
Now that the “I’m a mouse, duh” Halloween tactic has gotten a little old, Target has raked in costume master Simon Doonan, creative director at Barneys New York to design a line of costumes. Doonan, whose birthday falls on Halloween, says he’s a natural fit for the gig, “The holiday is huge and it’s growing. That’s why [Target] yodeled in yours truly.”

Fashion news: NYFW may be picketed by someone other than PETA, DVF does hospital gowns, and American Apparel is $120 mil in the hole
Storm’s a-brewing over who will work New York Fashion Week at it’s debut run at the Lincoln Center – will it be IMG Fashion, who normally works NYFW gigs or Local One, the union in charge of all theatrical endeavours at the Lincoln. NYFW is threatened with picketing, should this heat up any further. And upon hearing this news, the red paint-baring PETA people are presumably cheering, “the more, the merrier.” [Wall Street Journal via The Cut]
We’ve just gotten our first look at Oasis-man Liam Gallagher‘s lookbook for his very necessary line Pretty Green. It’s been noted that he’s really outdone himself: Among the forgettable neutrals there’s a red velvet peacoat (colour! can you imagine!?). Apparently Gallagher can’t, which may be why the self-styled and self-modelled lookbook features Liam starring up at the sky in full existential-contemplation mode, as if to ponder, “what does the red peacoat mean?’ [The Cut]

Fashion news: Alber Elbaz’s sad birthday, Dior’s gold contacts and Target pulls fascist tee
Jil Sander will live-stream tomorrow’s Men’s SS 11 show on the brand’s website. Tune in tomorrow at 3:15 p.m. EST. [Fashionista]
Happy (belated) birthday to poor Lanvin creative director Alber Elbaz, who describes his lavish celebration as such: “I was at the Air France lounge waiting to get on the flight to New York, and the airline attendant presented me with a muffin. I think we both felt embarrassed.” [Racked]

Fashion news: Madonna set to design, Alexander McQueen’s Paris show is supposedly still a go and Anna Dello Russo reveals the true price of beauty
Material girl Madonna is reportedly set to brings her lyrics to life and design a collection to be sold exclusively at Macy’s. The unconfirmed rumour is that the line will include clothing, accessories, lingerie and shoes. [Vogue UK]
In the wake of Alexander McQueen‘s death, the question of “what now” is obviously on everyone’s mind. While long-term plans remain unknown, his upcoming Paris show is supposedly still scheduled to be presented. The collection was apparently completed a week prior to the designer’s death, and sources say that there is no change to the delivery dates of showpieces commissioned specifically for the runway. OMT: Target (may) be coming to Canada (eventually)
U.S. retailer Target is looking to take their designer collaboration tagline to heart and Go International. (Sorry.) The company is planning to expand outside U.S. borders and is looking at Canadian locations as part of the strategy. Nothing’s confirmed yet, and if the new stores do actually happen, it won’t be for at least another […]

Fashion news: SJP joins Halston, more cuts at Lagerfeld, and the Nygård drama continues
News of Yohji Yamamoto quickly and quietly closing his two New York stores last night left people wondering what lay ahead for the designer. It is now being reported that the closure of the NYC stores is just a part of a bigger ripple effect, with stores closing all over the globe. [Racked]
The big true or false question that invaded the fashion world yesterday–will Sarah Jessica Parker be taking on a role at Halston–is true. Halston has not yet disclosed what exactly SJP will be doing, but it will be interesting to watch how the fashion icon will work her style in to the brand. [Vogue UK]

The Jean Paul Gaultier Target collection looks incredible!
As is de rigueur with fast fashion collab leaks these days, a grainy, blurry cell phone image of a magazine spread featuring Jean Paul Gaultier’s Target collection has emerged. Nevermind the poor quality, the image is enough to get our fashion pulses racing. What’s amazing is that the collection is both classic Gaultier, and just […]

Tavi charms Elijah Wood and everyone else in her Rodarte x Target video
Putting aside for a moment our reservations about the current teen blogger hysteria (Tavi at CDG! Sea of Shoes at the Crillon Ball!) we find this video that the aforementioned Tavi created for Rodarte’s Target collab to be pretty endearing. The Style Rookie blogger/Rodarte BFF captured the campaign shoot in North Dakota (where her mom sang Norwegian lullabies) and the widely-leaked preview at New York’s Gagosian Gallery, where Tavi charmed Elijah Wood and offered up commentary on her favourite pieces from the collection–among them a mustard-coloured lace sweater which she “might wear every day, which is kind of gross.” Spoken like a true 13-year-old. Fashion news: Zac Posen keeps collaborating, so does Target, and is Gaga the reincarnation of a Canadian disco star?
Oh my word! Zac Posen has another collaboration. This one is with jewellery designer Pamela Love and features iris- and morning glory-shaped earrings, rings, brooches and necklaces with knife-like stamen. And you don’t have to wait or cross a border for this one: The pieces are available right now on Opening Ceremony‘s website. [Refinery 29]
And speaking of daily collaboration announcements: Target has one in the works with print masters Liberty of London. The line of fashion, accessories, home decor and more launches in March. [WWD]
