We gave you a behind-the-scenes peek at how Alexandra Weston and Waris Ahluwalia curated the Holt Renfrew H Project Uncrate India collection. We shared 50+ artisanal items from the collection. And now it’s time to take a look at the incredible bash that Holt Renfrew threw last night in celebration of it all. The Bloor Street store was transformed into a vibrant Indian market, welcoming hundreds of guests adorned in sari-inspired attire. Rooms were tented with pink and orange fabric for an intimate feel, gilded bird cages stuffed with flowers hung from the ceilings and guests were greeted upon arrival with a shower of rose petals. But the lavish extravaganza didn’t stop there.

Greta Constantine debuts Spring 2014 collection with an intimate dinner turned mega party
See the Greta Constantine Spring 2014 collection »
In the off-season manner that has become their signature, Greta Constantine designers Stephen Wong and Kirk Pickersgill put the social spin on the Spring 2014 collection, which they revealed at Malaparte above TIFF Bell Lightbox last night in Toronto. For an intimate crowd of editors and socialites, the 23 looks first took to a makeshift runway in-between two outstretched dinner tables set with inspirational artworks at each place (“Give your undivided attention to the feeling of your creations, not the creations themselves,” said mine). Then later, in presentation style groupings for after-partygoers.
The collection itself was an exercise in what Greta Constantine does best, but renewed for the season in cool microfiber knits (my favourite: an off-shoulder magenta knee length cocktail number) and silk faille. A dripping copper-covered group of smouldering floor-length gowns had red carpet written all over it. Meanwhile, the duo pushed retakes of their well-known classics such as cobalt and tangerine ruffled power dresses and the one-shouldered cocktail. With a healthy dose of Rogers, Florida, Kimmel and Koo in the crowd, all 23 are sure to be snapped up faster than you can say fierce.

Confessions of a fashion addict: How to shop like an editor, avoid buyer’s remorse and never pay full price again
“It just started today. Everything’s an additional 50 per cent off,” I overhear our fashion editor-at-large, Zeina Esmail, telling a visiting New York publicist about a nearby end-of-season sell-off. “You can score a pair of Manolos for 200 bucks.” I make a note of this (I could use some new pumps) and share a knowing glance with my FASHION editor colleagues. Lunch plans have just been made. Esmail, meanwhile, is on to discussing another fashion find: a $2,000 Proenza Schouler sweater she scored online for $89. By now, the shopping tips are coming fast and furious, and a small crowd has formed around our resident style sage. This is Esmail in her element.
At the FASHION offices, Esmail is known for her cool style, impeccable taste and complete and utter obsession with shopping—an occupational hazard of being a stylist and professional shopper. “It’s definitely part of my job. I shop for work all the time, so I stumble on sales, but I’m a constant hunter,” she says. “I’m always looking for things to buy and watching for when I can score a major deal. It’s kind of a weird mental illness in a way, because I can’t stop.” Case in point: At a recent designer shoe sale (where styles by Nicholas Kirkwood, Alaïa and Balmain were marked down to a frenzy-inducing $99), while the rest of us were splurging on two or three pairs, Esmail went home with 22. “I couldn’t just buy three. I went back and I went back,” she says. “I have an addictive personality, so if I get an idea in my head I don’t know how to let it go. I got home and my husband was like, ‘What did you do?’ I get carried away in the moment. It’s my biggest enemy and my best friend.”

Inside Greta Constantine’s annual summer party: 25 photos of fashion types looking fierce by the pool
See the Greta Constantine summer party photos »
A half naked male model, a midtown mansion and one stellar Spring 2014 collection reveal—what else could you ask for on a late summer’s eve? Last night, Greta Constantine hosted its annual summer party at the beautiful home of Krystal Koo and Michael Cooper. Taking place around the couple’s stunning aqua blue pool, the fashion show-meets-party had lanky models parading in the duo’s latest wares—a sailor inspired wideleg and boatneck combo, a juicy orange bodysuit, a bronze figure-hugging evening gown and the piece de resistance, an itty bitty men’s speedo. (Whether or not that last one can accurately be referred to as a collection piece though is beside the point, right?) As the night progressed, Greta devouts including Anita Clarke, Natalie Lecomte and Stacey McKenzie toasted with Stoli cocktails while Chatelaine’s Tyler Franch and Redken’s Sean Godard posed for selfies by the tiled cabana. All the makings of a perfect summer sendoff, even though we really don’t want to send it off at all.
