The house of Alexander McQueen is considering suing Cadbury for using an image of their 2006 hologram of Kate Moss in their ads. The question is, why would Kate Moss make us want to buy chocolate? [Racked]
First, he won Swarovski Accessories Designer of the Year at the CFDA‘s, and now Alexander Wang‘s got himself a new New York apartment. The Tribeca one bedroom was previously owned by former New York Times Style editor Holly Brubach, and cost him a modest $2 million. All in all, a good week for Alex. [New York Observer]

Fashion news: iconic dresses of the last 50 years, American Apparel in peril and Versace makes a cell phone
Versace has just announced the launch of its first cell phone. The gold-plated Versace Unique comes with a 5 megapixel camera and a sapphire crystal screen. The iconic Medusa logo is also engraved on the leather back. Sigh, better start pinching those pretty pennies now. [Engadget via Racked]
A UK online poll revealed its ten most iconic dresses of the last 50 years. On the list? Audrey Hepburn‘s black dress from Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Marilyn‘s white halter and Bjork‘s wrap-around-swan. The number one spot went to Geri Halliwell‘s Union Jack dress, which some might debate is actually a shirt. [Telegraph]

Fashion news: Gen Art shutters, Anna Wintour dances and Jean Paul Gaultier designs a creepy bedspread
Gen Art, an organization that supported and showcased up-and-coming fashion, art and music talent–including Zac Posen and Vena Cava–has closed its doors. A statement on their website points to the sudden end of a corporate partnership, which Gen Art had been counting on for revenue. [Gen Art]

Jean Paul Gaultier is designing a line for the haute, modern furniture company Roche Bobois, whose Missoni-covered modular sofas we have long coveted. Fashion news: Robin Kay speaks out about the Holts FWeek breakfast [updated], Canadians are safe shoppers and Shu Uemura to cease U.S. operations
Allegations made by models of Terry Richardson‘s inappropriate behaviour haven’t seemed to effect his career or his reputation, as the photographer was back to work, shooting model Doutzen Kroes for Vogue in Miami yesterday. [Vogue UK]
FDCC prez Robin Kay spoke out at yesterday’s Holt Renfrew‘s media breakfast, which showcased work from five Canadian designers who don’t show at LG Fashion Week. (Watch for our coverage of the event later today.) Holts brought in Vogue writer Mark Holgate, who will not be attending the main event at the Allstream Centre [UPDATE: Mark Holgate attended the IZMA show on Sunday night with Holt Renfrew’s communications director, Moira Wright.] Kay told the Toronto Star: “Holt Renfrew is a sponsor – with their largesse they should have made a point of bringing that gentleman to the site to see that we are a fashion week and to see designers he may not have heard of. That’s a sponsor’s duty and responsibility.” For Holts’ part, their fashion VP Barbara Atkin said: ““[Bringing these designers to fashion week] is something we’ve talked about and we are in discussions about.” [Toronto Star, via Toronto Life]
With J.Crew scouting locations and Victoria’s Secret‘s plans to open four north-of-the-49th stores, Canada has become the ‘it’ place for retailers looking to open international stores–because we’re nearby and not that exotic, apparently. Says the Wall Street Journal: “Canadians tend to be slower, steadier shoppers than Americans, with a preference for higher-quality goods and more interest in outdoor looks.” Gotta love the stereotypes, eh. Jason Wu is launching a sunglasses collection to be sold exclusively at Modo, a high-end eye wear store in New York. [Refinery29]
Versace‘s reorganization plan for the company has been approved, including giving the pink slip to 25% of its workforce starting in March and ending in June. The company hopes to be back on its feet and and profitable by 2011. [Vogue UK]

Who knew the Snuggie was considered fashion forward enough to have its very own moment in the sun at New York Fashion Week. Apparently, Snuggie is launching a whole slew of colours and styles of the blanket/outfit with the invite saying the “sexiest looks in blanket-wear and adult, kid and even canine models will hit the runway.” This is a joke, right? ’Cause we’re definitely laughing.
