London: September 18

By Malena Harbers
Caught up in a delayed tube line, a maddeningly late bus and typically congested Oxford Street traffic to start, I found myself on a foreign block in Bloomsbury dashing down cobblestone roads in croc platform heels, frantically searching for “The Dairy,” site of Erdem’s Spring 2009 show.

London: September 17

Day three, and the skies are still looking friendly. That should be some kind of rain record for this city, no? Word on the street says it’s going to last all week. Hurray! That means bare legs, minis and towering stilettos will stay out in full force for the rest of Fashion Week.

London: September 16

The best part of day two was at 8:30 p.m. when a Beatle sang in my ear. Now I know Sir Paul McCartney doesn’t normally fit on a fashion blog but when one of the world’s most legendary musicians is standing right beside you at his daughter’s charity auction that’s something to write about!

London: September 15

By Malena Harbers
In a toast to my adopted homeland, I’m writing my first London Fashion Week blog with a cup of English Breakfast tea in hand. After an exhausting first day running from South to North to Central London, I’m ready to tuck in with or without the traditional crumpet and jam.

Halifax: Fashion Week, Round One

September has arrived and so has the dawn of the fashion weeks. For Haligonians, this typically means logging on and tuning in to top style sources for runway rundowns from this continent’s fast and fashionable cities.
But now, Halifax is adding to the mix with it’s own incarnation of fashion week—times two. It’s the war of the weeks here on the East Coast and two separate organizers have taken on the task of raising our fashion profile.

New York: September 12

By Tammy Eckenswiller
The day started beautifully: I sneaked out early from the People’s Revolution/Hint mag party in Tribeca, completely cocktail free! Woke up early enough to have a quick work out and a coffee and arrived at Ralph Lauren as fresh as a daisy. Not bad for the last day of fashion week (although I have showroom appointments on Sat and Sun).

New York: September 11

Can’t stop stalking Paris Vogue editor (can’t figure out what her name is!?!) in black silk satin YSL jumpsuit and gorgeous but painful looking black satin pumps (Miu Miu), Fabien Baron with his big big brain: The redesign of Interview mag makes my toes curl with ecstasy!

New York: September 10

Nothing cures a hangover like a shot of strong American sportif, with models thumping the runway to “Our Lips are Sealed” by the Go-Go’s and the Beach Boys’ “Good Vibrations.” Thank you, Michael Kors! You rock in that delicious, crisp, sharp, sexy, polished way that is undeniable eye candy. I definitely want one of the glossy visor hats to replace my silly, big black Ellen Christine straw hat. (It looks positively old fashioned next to your futuristic nautical, rich bitch version.) Mr. Kors hit it home with a strong collection of nautical-inspired looks—very Deauville-meets-Nantucket. I scanned the faces of the models I saw at the Prada party the night before to see who was heavy-lidded too, but they all looked fresh as daisies, bitches.

New York: September 9

By Tammy Eckenswiller
Just left the Prada party after a couple of cocktails on a relatively empty stomach and I am feelin’ funky and ready to spill the beans! Not to start back-to-front, but it seems fitting: The Prada party is a regular fete at the SoHo store during New York Fashion Week and the usual hangers-on were there, along with Leighton Meester from Gossip Girl and models Jessica Stam and Cassie to name a few. I was so starving (pouring rain in NY equals triple the time to get from one show to another equals no time to grab any kind of sustenance) that I chased down the boys with canapés like they were Chanel bags at a sample sale.
