Even IRL, Jennifer Lawrence is the girl on fire. Choosing very different yet equally striking looks for three of her TIFF appearances, looked as if to be playing three Cinna-approved parts. First, it was what we’ll call the District 12 look: At the premiere of A Place Beyond the Pines, Lawrence paired a cobalt blue lace Dior halter dress with a simple cat-eye, and pulled back hair (we can’t confirm a side braid). Then it was what we’ll call the Ceaser Flickerman show look: At her own red carpet premiere for The Silver Linings Playbook, Jennifer Lawrence seriously thrilled in a multi-coloured strapless Dior Couture gown, cranberry lips and straight, side-pinned hair. Earlier today, the actress switched it up once more, in a form-fitting white Antonio Berardi day-dress at press conference alongside co-star Bradley Cooper. On her way to the conference, Jennifer Lawrence was shot wearing oversized Ray-Bans, which amped the city slicker look up a notch further. So, which did you like best?

With a mere 44 days left until the annual Toronto International Film Festival begins again, the full list of films (not to mention their star-studded casts) has finally been released to the public. From the highly anticipated time-travelling mobster flick Looper to the visually decadent retelling of Anna Karenina, this year’s TIFF lineup sounds like a film buff’s dream come true. Of course, as fashion-inclined folk, we’re almost as excited about seeing what the stars will be wearing on the red carpet come September 6 as we are the films.

With temperatures soaring, summertime is the perfect time to ditch the dark colours and lighten up with the perfect white dress (the PWD?). Jessica Biel showed us that white can be sweet and sexy with the two white-hot looks she rocked last week—first at the ESPY Awards, where she donned a flouncy Dior frock with killer Nicholas Kirkwood pumps, and again at Comic-Con, where she played up her feminine figure in a sexy peplum curve-hugging number. Caroline Sieber showed us that white can be demure with the gorgeous Chanel sheath the stylist wore during couture week, and we love the way her fedora gives the ensemble the perfect punch of summer style. We’ve all had a few days since Raf Simons’ spectacular Dior couture debut was shown in Paris this past Sunday, and one of the things that keeps coming to mind is how oddly… sellable this collection is. While that may be the complete opposite goal of couture, we had no problem at all envisioning ourselves swinging by the brand’s Avenue Montaigne flagship and picking up a few pieces. Here are a few personal favourites from the FASHION team:

After seeing Dior‘s spectacular Couture show earlier this week, one thing (aside from the collection, that is) stood out: the brightly hued lashes on each model. Created by makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath, hot pink, cobalt blue and lime green eyeliner was applied over silver shadow, with matching mascara to make the neon colours stand out even more. Basically, it was impossible not to turn back to Sally Singer’s eyeball manicure for Nail Corner inspiration. This design may have more of a cartoonish than couture feel, but it’s one way you can get away with neon eyelashes for everyday wear.

To say that Raf Simons had a mountain of pressure weighing down on him for his couture collection for Dior would be an understatement. And yet somehow, Simons managed to pull off the impossible: his stunning 56-piece collection was a reverent nod to Dior’s heritage fused with Simon’s signature modernity. Even more impressive than the collection itself is the outpouring of approval from the tough-to-please fashion crowd, including Simons’ peers.
