FASHION Plates: Your ultimate guide to the haute-ifying Rocky Horror Picture Show
Trick-or-treating aside, one of our favourite Halloween rituals has to be attending a screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show. For those of you virgins (we’re not really calling you virgins) who have never been to a show, we implore you to try it for yourself this year. There are generally midnight showings for many days leading up to and on Halloween night, and it’s a great excuse to dress up, bring some rice to a theatre, and let your freak flag fly.
But, what to wear? The Rocky Horror look can get a little trashy at times, so we present our ultimate guide to haute-ifying it. Yes, some of these price tags are a wee bit of a splurge for one night only, but we predict that you’ll want to wash and repeat for many years to come.

MFW style snaps: We spotted Anna Wintour and plenty of Dolce & Gabbana outside the Dolce & Gabbana show
Photography by Lewis Mirrett Boy, people really like to match the shows they attend. Outside Sunday’s Dolce & Gabbana show, we spotted many, many, many versions of the duo’s wears, specifically the Fall 2011 collection. Have fun spotting the literal stars amongst the proverbial (style) stars in this gallery.

MFW diary: Our cheat sheet of highlights from a Sunday full of Marni, Dolce Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Aquilano.Rimondi, and Versus
Sunday may be a day of rest for some, but here in Milan the pace is fast and furious (no time for even a gelato stop!). In a jam-packed day of shows, here are the highlights:
Marni: We saw naïve and childlike daisy prints, ice cream colours, and a new silhouette for Consuelo Castiglioni that focused on a fitted waist and dramatic A-line shapes; that, plus the craftiness we’ve come to expect each season—the embroidery, raffia, crochet, patent, bright trim on spectator bags and shoes—and more geometric prints than high school math class. Oh, and the most drool-worthy earrings of the week.

They said/We said: We’re sad to see D&G go (even if it means more Dolce & Gabbana)
Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce shot by Vittorio Zunino Celotto/Getty Images Rumours have been circulating for months that Dolce & Gabbana’s D&G line would soon be folding, and the announcement came this morning that now is the time, making today’s Spring 2012 runway show the last.
D&G was created as a sort of younger, fresher, and cheaper alternative to the traditional line, but lately retailers have noticed that while the pieces are popular, the prices were getting too high. Having a roughly similar price point was hurting both brands, so while this decision isn’t a surprise, neither is it a huge disappointment. While some European retailers are confused by the decision, claiming that the D&G line was far more commercial and popular for shoppers, the designers said in a press statement that the decision will bring “even more strength and energy to [their] collections.”

MFW diary: A new neutral at Max Mara and the last D&G show ever
Max Mara shot by Antonio de Moraes Barros Filho/Getty Images “Teal is the new neutral,” declares Holt Renfrew‘s fashion director, Barbara Atkin, outside the Max Mara show, pointing to her gorgeous new Givenchy bag. And she’s right. It’s my second day in Milan and I’ve already seen nothing but blue-sky bags cropping up all over town and scattered throughout the front row. Did everyone get the same memo?
Inside the tent, there was a different sort of blue—a pastel (think Ladurée macaroon) aqua that’s been spotted throughout the spring collections. Max Mara mixed it with delicate shades of sand and ivory in a sporty, minimal collection highlighted by racer-back, colour-block dresses, athletic-inspired knee-length leggings (move over Lululemon) and trim little ¾-sleeve, blouson baseball jackets.

Growing up Gomez: Selena Gomez is leaving the kiddie shows behind and moving on to more adult pursuits
By Dennis Hensley
On her new album, When the Sun Goes Down, Selena Gomez sings about self-acceptance (“Who Says”), infatuation (“Whiplash,” which Britney Spears co-wrote) and taming a misbehaving guy (“That’s More Like It,” co-written by Katy Perry). Yet when asked which track reveals the most about her, Gomez ditches the hearts and flowers and goes right for the jugular. “‘Bang Bang Bang’ is probably the most personal,” she says, referring to a snarky kiss-off anthem directed toward an ex, in which she coos put-downs like, “My new boy used to be a model…he looks way better than you” and “When I’m out having fun, you’re gonna be the one that’s broken.”

TIFF red carpet: Ten Year’s Channing Tatum, Ari Graynor, and Scott Porter tell us who they’d go to a reunion with
Ten Year's Jamie Linden, Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan Tatum, and Brian Geraghty Your mom will probably want to compare the movie Ten Year, about high school friends coming together for one night at their 10 year reunion, with movies like The Big Chill. And your older sister will probably compare it to Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, but while the movie does have some similar themes against the backdrop of who-we-were-then-isn’t-who-we-are-now, what it has that these do not is the most genetically blessed graduating class ever assembled. Case in point, the cast-members who showed up at TIFF to promote the film: Channing Tatum, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Justin Long, Ari Graynor, Kate Mara, Brian Geraghty, Lynn Collins, Oscar Isaac, Kelly Noonan, and Scott Porter. There may have been more, but we ran out of fingers.
We asked the cast, who of their co-stars they would want to go to a reunion with. Read their answers after the jump:

They said/We said: Will the rest of Beyoncé’s pregnancy be as designer-studded as last night?
Photography by Kevin Mazur/Getty Images It’s hard to top a Gaga performance, let alone when she’s dressed in complete drag, but Beyoncé’s double baby rub/reveal at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards just about killed any mention of the Mother Monster and/or Jo Calderone for the rest of the evening, if not the entire day following.
For the first baby rub of the night, Bey dressed in a bright-orange, loose Lanvin one-shoulder dress. Easy, loose, baby rub approps. And then a glittering Dolce & Gabbana tux: glitter baby rub!
Beyoncé’s first two public preggo outfits hopefully signified that Bey isn’t quite ready to give up the couture. So, what designer duds are in her expanding future? Maybe now is the time to expand the House of Deréon and Rocawear with maternity lines.

FASHION plates: Fellini
By Randi Bergman and Jordan Porter
Fellini’s in Toronto (at least in spirit), and we can’t get the 8 ½ director out of our heads. Although he experimented with quite a few styles during his 30-year career, it’s his signature drama, seductiveness and extravagance that are on display at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in the form of film stills, magazine clippings and more. In honour of the molto dolce occasion, we bring you a Fellini-inspired edition of FASHION Plates, to help you channel the indulgent, sexy attitude of his many muses. So, up the glamour and get shopping.
Head to the TIFF Bell Lightbox for Fellini: Spectacular Obsessions and take in the chic excess associated with the director.
