The Sound of Change: Beyoncé and Gucci lead the A-list in a star-studded benefit concert
See the photos from The Sound of Change concert »
Beyoncé, Florence Welch, Jennifer Lopez and others reaffirmed that girls do run the world as they took to the stage at last night’s The Sound of Change concert in London. The show was held to promote Gucci’s Chime for Change charity, of which Beyoncé, Salma Hayek and Gucci creative director Frida Giannini are co-founders.
Beyoncé, who played artistic director for the event, sang and danced through a forty-five minute set to a 50,000-strong crowd at London’s Twickenham Stadium. The star, who was recently crowned an icon on Time’s annual list of 100 Most Influential People and described by Great Gatsby director Baz Luhrmann as the “reigning national voice” of the US, performed some of her most major girl power hits including “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” “Run The World (Girls)” and “Grown Woman”. Oh and did we mention that her entire band was female? The not-so-single diva was radiant in a sexy black bodysuit and edgy ankle boots.

Eco-friendly with elegance: Gucci to launch a line of environmentally sound shoes
Proving that you don’t need to dress in head-to-toe hemp to do good for the environment, Gucci has launched a line of environmentally friendly shoes for both men and women.
Frida Giannini, the Italian brand’s creative designer, made sure the line was environmentally sound from shoe string to sole, but did so without sacrificing the brand’s famous stamp of luxury.

They said/We said: Eco-fashion reaches the red carpet with Chanel, Gucci, Tom Ford, and others creating pieces for the Golden Globes
Green is the new black. At least according to Chanel, Gucci, and the nine other stellar brands that have all pledged to create eco-friendly designs for this season’s red carpets.
It’s all part of Livia Firth’s (otherwise known as Colin Firth’s wife and the luckiest woman in the world) Green Carpet Challenge (GCC), an initiative she started with journalist Lucy Siegle two years ago. Since then, the movement has garnered some serious support from fashion heavyweights like Frida Giannini, Franca Sozzani, and Tom Ford.
Starting with the Golden Globes this Sunday, the designers will create gowns, accessories, and suits conforming to the GCC’s design principles. As to who will wear what, everything is very hush-hush. Firth, however, has announced that she will be wearing a Giorgio Armani creation made entirely from eco-friendly fabrics.
During the past two award seasons, Firth has only worn environmentally friendly gowns on the red carpet—including a repurposed wedding gown and a cocktail dress made from scrap fabric. Perhaps the most famous of them all was a gown made from her husband’s old Tom Ford suits. Yes. Please.
Pictures of Firth’s dresses along with the other eco-friendly creations will be available on vogue.com starting January 15.

They said/We said: Fashion royalty romance gossip, Gucci-style
We got a serious case of the awws when we read that Frida Giannini and Patrizio di Marco, Gucci’s creative director and CEO, respectively, have outed their relationship to the world after more than two years of dating. Workplace romances can be risky, but after a fateful business trip to China, the two knew that it was a risk they were willing to take.
It seems like they went about their “coming out” in all the right ways: they separately met with François-Henri Pinault, the chief executive of PPR (which owns Gucci), to admit the affair—aware that they might lose their jobs—but luckily, Pinault was “very supportive.” They told the rest of the company before the rest of the world, and we’re hoping that everyone’s as supportive as we are.
