How to wear asymmetrical hems: 10 lessons we learned from street style stars
How to wear asymmetrical hems »
Asymmetrical hems, whether high fashion or mall style, have become wardrobe mainstays over the past few seasons. Signalled by Proenza Schouler’s now-iconic Fall 2012 wrap skirt, the oft-copied style (ahem, Zara) is the perfect blend of skirt, skort, short and more. And while some styles have reached saturation level (ahem, mullet skirt), asymmetrical hems have proved here to stay because of their versatility—They work in pretty much every situation and wardrobe! Taking some tips from the fashion mavens du jour (our favourite street style mavericks, of course) we show you how to wear asymmetrical hems for another season. Be ahead of the curve, the curve of the hem that is.

Street Style, Paris: 21 shots from outside the last day of fashion week
See the final street style looks from Paris »
With the Fall 2014 shows wrapping up yesterday in Paris, the international circuit has come to a close. On an especially sunny last day of fashion week, editors and patrons showed that a little bling can go a long way. Miroslava Duma chose an oversized oval belt buckle, large even by Texan standards, to jazz up a burgundy asymmetrical trench. Franca Sozzani’s camel coloured ostrich jacket given some refined glitz thanks to a horse-bit inspired belt. Caroline Issa chose not to compete with the bright hue of her orange suede jacket, letting the high-shine metallic zipper be the only accent. Giovanna Battaglia opted for a demure pistachio green cape and grey turtleneck, giving her sparkly studded heels top a place in the lime light—a hint of punk done in an age appropriate manner. Just wait until you see one show goer’s embroidered and fringed bomber jacket—plenty of understated sparkle is made daytime appropriate thanks to a periwinkle blue dress and demure heels. Proving that metallic and shiny accents aren’t just for the ladies, James Goldstein chose to elevate a head to toe leather ensemble with some gold swan embellishment. You’re never too old to rock out in leather on leather.

Street Style, Paris: 21 shots of Chanel swag, motorcycle garb and laser cuts outside fashion week
See all the street style from Paris here »
You would think that after almost a month of Fashion Weeks with intense schedules, endless fashion shows and plenty of travel time, the fashion elite would be running out of things to wear. But the latest batch of street style shots from outside Paris Fashion Week depict anything but. Some of our favourite street style stars were out in full force, wearing their best and brightest, and enjoying all the fashion frivolities. Clearly the playful vibes from Chanel’s fashion-show-turned-shopping-centre were infectious.
Besties and fellow editors, Giovanna Battaglia and Anna Dello Russo hammed it up for the cameras atop concrete bollards. Just how ADR got up there without rumpling her floor-length Spring 2014 Valentino, we’ll never know. In a coy twist on a virginal long sleeved lace dress, Kate Foley wore a strip of bright red gaffe tape strategically placed as a pseudo censor bar straight from the Preen Fall 2014 show. Several models fresh off of the Chanel runway proudly showed off their free swag courtesy of the label’s shopping aisles. (We’re more than a little jealous of Anya Ziourova’s Chanel doormat…)

Street Style, Paris: 23 shots of statement-making sweaters outside the Fall 2014 shows
See the latest looks from Paris Fashion Week »
Despite North America’s still frigid temperatures, things seem to be somewhat bearable in Paris—that, or the fashion crowd is impermeable to the cold. Could go either way, really.
Yesterday’s styles on the streets showed people shedding bulky coats in favour of quirky sweaters and lighter pieces. Call it the Moschino-effect—ever since its logo-fied collection showed in Milan, graphic prints and novelty sweaters have become the must-have item for Fall 2014. Case in point: Soo Joo playfully sporting the brand’s blockbuster sweater dress and another fashion go-er with the matching chain bag, both with the now recognizable riff on McDonald’s golden arches. Beyond the logo sweater (also seen in a red Carven incarnation) a statement sweater will do just as well. Yasmin Sewell and Miroslava Duma were chatting it up, both in eye-catchingly bright sweaters paired with neutral bottoms. Black sweaters will do just as well—that is, as long as it has a body-spanning trim of fringed tassels. We’d like one in every colour please.

Street Style, Paris: 20 fashion week shots of Kanye, Gisele and more from outside the Fall 2014 shows

Yesterday’s Paris Fashion Week street style round up of subdued glamour was seemingly just a warm up to today’s batch of pics filled with quirky outfits and dramatic outfits featuring lots and lots of black. Black after all is fashion’s favourite colour.
Probably the standout look of the bunch is the fantastically trippy harlequin inspired red and black diamond coat and dress. Paired with a façade top hat, the back cut out allowing for an epically long ponytail, and structural cut-out shoes seemingly defying all logic and gravity. Anna Dello Russo, in typical fashion, also opted for unusual headgear, going for a felt riding cap paired with a black sleeveless shift and sheer pullover underneath. And of course, it wouldn’t be Anna without a little inflection of Asian pop art, with her gummy bear clutch adding a big of colour to the monochromatic look. Black moto jackets were all the rage and spotted on plenty of of-duty models and fashion style stars alike, with Giovanna Battaglia choosing to soften her shearling version with a ruffled gingham ensemble and bright pink fedora.

Street Style, Milan: Fashion Week winds down with 42 last looks from outside the Fall 2014 shows
See all the weekend looks from Milan »
A weekend of fashion in Milan brought out the sunshine and, of course, the obligatory bare legs. With the mercury rising (in Europe that is), the fashion elite geared up for what will probably be another sweltering summer and flexed their gams in playful and unique skirts and dresses.
The look of the weekend definitely seemed to be quirky skirts in an array of bright colours and unusual cuts, with nary a plain A-line skirt in sight. Just take a peek at all of the high-cut front slits, origami layers, with everything from a Joe Cool mini to an ankle skimming plaid kilt. Even Carine Roitfeld’s long black pencil skirt had a playful little side slit. Miroslava Duma on the other hand, kept things chic and simple in a variety of matching pantsuits, each featuring high-waisted pleated trousers and a loosely slung jackets.

With New York Fashion Week coming to a close, we’re sure attendees are already looking forward to
greenerwarmer pastures. (After London, that is!) But editors and bloggers didn’t let the exhausting week and chilly temps slow them down, as you’ll see in today’s batch of street style photos. Mixing graphic accessories and sneakers, stylish show goers kept things fun and bright with statement pastels and playful accessories.Preetma Singh and Anna Dello Russo kept the week’s fur trend alive, but livened it up with mismatched prints and textures. Giovanna Battaglia and several off–duty models, Soo Joo Park included, channelled Monster’s Inc. with Sully-like tufted fur coats and graphic cartoon character bags. Miroslava Duma and Leandra Medine both went for animal print outerwear while Perez Hilton (sure, why not?) showed his patriotic side in a graphic stars and stripes outfit. We prefer the Hudson’s Bay blanket coat we spotted, but that might just be our Canadian loyalty showing through.

Street Style, New York: 50 photos of colourful fur, Team Canada mittens and statement coats at the Fall 2014 shows
It’s been almost a full week of New York Fashion Week Fall 2014 shows and we were beginning to wonder if the fashion elite had any tricks left up their sleeves when it came to cold weather dressing. There are only so many ways you can stay warm and stylish, right? Nope! Today’s batch of street style photos from photographer Stefania Yarhi take outwear to new heights with mixes of colourful fur, dashes of metallic sheen and noteworthy footwear.
Preetma Singh, Eva Chen and several other fashion go-ers showed off panelled fur vests and jackets, all picking up on the colour-blocking trend while staying warm in the process. Warming our hearts, on the other hand, was the abundance of Hudson’s Bay Team Canada mittens spotted on the streets of New York—Olympic spirit is always in style! Alexa Chung looked positively Bowie-esque in a futuristic iridescent coat—while simultaneously keeping it ladylike with a prim purse. Ece Sükan went for an ’80s throwback vibe, mixing a cinched mod leather jacket with a bold gold skirt peeking out from underneath.

We know you want more street style, and we’re here to heed the call for chic. As Paris Fashion Week continues, Guilhem Malissen captures more A-list looks from the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Miroslava Duma and Giovanna Battaglia.
We are in awe of how this Paris crowd keeps bringing the best in monochromatic looks. It’s hard to miss the dual-patterned black and white coat that Duma is wearing and the over the shoulder Charlotte Olympia clock purse that finished off her look. Two show goers are all smiles in black and white looks with different aesthetics, one menswear inspired and the other très femme with a floral printed fur top.

See the Milan street style photos »
Already noticed on A-listers in the front row, monochromatic outfits were big on the streets on day two of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2014. And not just any shade: We’re talking about bold, standout primary colours—right in line, actually, with the Max Mara Spring 2014 collection. One street style star looked stellar in head to toe red, complete with chic black accessories (including a lifelike kitty clutch!), while another rocked canary yellow pants as she gave our photographer, Sophie Mhabille, her best Kristen Stewart impression. Known for her feminine poised style, Giovanna Battaglia also embraced the monochrome look in a baby blue printed shirt and polka dot tulip skirt.
Speaking of prints (which continues to be the most popular trend), Milan’s streets were filled with a whirlwind of stylish ladies in various printed dresses and skirts—tartan, floral, gingham you name it! With the sun blazing in Milan on the official last days of summer, we’re sensing the street style stars are taking full advantage of the warmer weather and squeezing out the very last wears of their summer outfits.

Street Style, Milan: Anna Dello Russo, Giovanna Battaglia and so many amazing accessories outside the Spring 2014 shows
See the Milan street style photos »
Coats may have been the talk of the town in London, but accessories are the stars of Milan street style. Thanks to Paris-based photographer Sophie Mhabile, we’ve captured all the action from the first day of Milan Fashion Week Spring 2014, spotting Italian fashion bloggers and international icons alike outside the shows.
Bringing her grey twisted-sleeve Céline dress to a whole new level was Anna Dello Russo, who rocked another pair of furry heels as she swept the streets clean in Loewe black sandals, adorned with winged fur at the heels.
