A photo posted by Golden Lady (@goldenladyofficial) on Nov 11, 2014 at 7:51am PST Well, this is…different. Cyrus has been chosen as the face (and legs!) of […]

They said/We said: Michelle Obama and the Queen of Qatar spend $50,000 at Agent Provocateur
Michelle Obama may preach a budget-conscious wardrobe, but that must not apply to her skivvies; the first lady reportedly dropped a nonchalant $50,000 at lingerie shop extraordinaire Agent Provocateur.
We normally wouldn’t comment on anyone’s pre-Valentine’s Day prep (which must be why Mobama and Queen Sheikha Mozah took to Madison Ave—and partly closed it off due to their arrival—for their luxury lingerie shopping spree) but for someone whose husband is up for re-election in a time where budget issues are a vital factor, we say it’s probably not the smartest idea to spend on lingerie what most people spend on a car.
Agent Provocateur is certainly benefiting from the Mrs. O’s business; the Telegraph reports she was the reason the store increased 12 per cent in sales last year, which makes us think: could all this be a publicity stunt to garner attention for the store?
We’d like to think the first lady is smarter than this, and likely had a bit of help from Queen Mozah in racking up the huge bill (that is, if the spree actually happened). Either way we can’t help but wonder what the Prez had to say about all this. Actually, we’re pretty sure he won’t be complaining.

Toronto shop notes: Pink frosted bra
Judging from spring’s lip-smacking lineup of candy-floss hues (peach at 3.1 Phillip Lim, lemon at Preen, mint at Louis Vuitton), now’s the time to indulge in something sweet. Update your lingerie drawer with pretty pastel pieces like this pink frosted bra ($35) from Triumph (triumph.com). Perfect for those who prefer a little sugar with their spice.

They said/We said: Starlets to harlots! Karl Lagerfeld shoots the look book for a former escort’s lingerie collection
From starlets to harlots! Karl Lagerfeld’s latest project with alleged former French escort Zahia Dehar is likely to cause quite a stir. Lagerfeld has taken it upon himself to shoot a look book for the upcoming lingerie line of the scandal-ridden “designer.”
For those unfamiliar with Dehar, designing lingerie is not her only love—she also seems to have a thing for French football players. She was the source of much uproar in Europe back in 2010, when it was discovered that she was involved with three prominent footie players for the nonchalant rate of £2,000 per night. (Oh, and she was also underage at the time.) Sacrebleu!

A woman of substance: Our exclusive Q&A with Carine Roitfeld
Carine Roitfeld, the world’s most inimitably chic fashion editor, is back. She tells Rani Sheen what’s next for her.
When it was announced in December that Carine Roitfeld had stepped down as editor-in-chief of Paris Vogue, the fashion world erupted in speculation about what she’d do next. The answer, in part, lies in the book Carine Roitfeld: Irreverent ($110, Rizzoli New York), a mid-career retrospective of her most arresting shoots, notes from designers, and personal mementos. It’s a satisfying read because there is such a fascination with Roitfeld, the coolest woman in any front row. We asked her what else she’s been up to.

FASHION plates: Fellini
By Randi Bergman and Jordan Porter
Fellini’s in Toronto (at least in spirit), and we can’t get the 8 ½ director out of our heads. Although he experimented with quite a few styles during his 30-year career, it’s his signature drama, seductiveness and extravagance that are on display at the TIFF Bell Lightbox in the form of film stills, magazine clippings and more. In honour of the molto dolce occasion, we bring you a Fellini-inspired edition of FASHION Plates, to help you channel the indulgent, sexy attitude of his many muses. So, up the glamour and get shopping.
Head to the TIFF Bell Lightbox for Fellini: Spectacular Obsessions and take in the chic excess associated with the director.

The Provocateur: After 35 cheeky years in the business, life is still a cabaret for couturier Jean Paul Gaultier
Jean Paul Gaultier isn’t crazy about career retrospectives. “I think they can be like a funeral sometimes,” winces the original bad boy of fashion, who turns 60 next year. We are sitting on the stage of Gaultier’s Rue Saint-Martin headquarters, where his punk-themed Spring 2011 couture collection has just been unveiled. Models strutted down the runway in his sailor-striped organza and leather lace bombers to a voice-over of Catherine Deneuve describing each exquisite outfit, rather than music. Almost everyone—including boy bride Andrej Pejic—was coiffed in some riff on a mohawk, and Gaultier himself came bounding out to take his bow in a spiked wig.
